Ignore them
Wear headphone
Read a book/magazine
Pretend to sleep
Tell them to leave you alone
Watch a movie

It's really not difficult.

I seem to attract weirdos and just wondering what can be done if you are aligned to sit next to one on a full flight

Try to get a window seat! That way you can occupy yourself by looking out the window and you will clearly be looking away from the person sitting next to you. I enjoy the scenery and clouds when flying.

This year I have flown solo quite a bit. I smile and say hello to the other person(s) in my row. I somehow feel it's rather rude not to make any acknowledgement of them but that's just the way I feel. If they speak to you and it makes you feel uneasy just keep any responses as absolutely Brief as possible. They'll get the point pretty quickly that you don't wish to engage in conversation. I don't think you have to be rude and tell them to leave you alone...Some people are just very friendly but not necessarily a wierdo. And some are chatty just to try and pass the time. I have met some Very Nice people on my flights and I have had some very quiet flights! ;)
Good Luck but just because someone says 'hello' don't automatically count them as a wierdo. ;)

I do I saw hi to them make small talk, then I either leave the, alone or we chat the entire flight, my fav is flying home because we end up talking Disney because I live a hour away from the mouse, so when I a, headed home most are headed for the parks

:rotfl: I'm the other way! I didn't like the feeling of being trapped between the wall of the airplane and the odd person next to me. So now, I aim for an aisle seat...not as much to look out, but I prefer the feeling that I could get up and out easily if needed.

I like the iPod/music player and book/magazine option.

Just so you know, if you make small talk, they may see that as an opening and chat you up the entire flight (weirdness and all).

Nothing. Maybe they'll think you are the "weirdo" and will ignore you

You have started many threads about airline/flying concerns. I think you should stick to driving, ;)

Wear a surgical mask. I saw a woman wear one on the subway. People avoided her like the plague.

Many people have questions/concerns when flying. They don't fly often so are unfamiliar with the way things may work. I have no issue with someone posting many questions here. If anyone has an issue with multiple postings, by the same person, then perhaps they should refrain from opening that thread.
It's comments like this, even said with a wink and a twinkle, that make people leave this board!!!! No, we don't toss pixiedust all over the place, but we are kind and helpful.

Love this idea!!!! I know that when I've flown, there have been a few people wearing surgical masks.....people were not flocking to them!!!!!:thumbsup2

When I fly SW solo, my tactic is to be in the B boarding group. This puts you in control, as you choose whose row you join out of those already aboard. I always aim for the older woman with a Kindle or book. Even better if its a couple and either the aisle or window is open. I've been fortunate every time with this tactic.

I did delta

After a polite hello, bury your nose in a good book. Having earphones is a plus.

Seriously guys???
Someone isn't a weirdo because they talk to you. If you don't want to chat, just plug in earbuds and stop worrying about it. Even if you're just reading a book, you can put in earbuds and that will pretty much stop any unwelcome talk.
