How do we love Disney? Let me count the ways... (updated & completed 5/11)

Hey Sare! Sorry I have been MIA this week - crazy busy with both Michael and Emily's birthdays this week, parties for the weekend, soccer, ballet, committee meeting, ugh....:guilty:

Great updates!!! :goodvibes I absolutely love those Eeyore shirts! So cute!

I'm sorry you missed your 1900 PF breakfast, but rest was probably more important at that point. Good call on the wheelchair, even though it was hard to push. I'm sure it made it easier on Jess' feet!

That Soarin' ride sounds fantastic! I'll have to remember to try for that section next time!

Seriously...are you almost done with this? :worship: Drat! I have got to go finish mine up....:rolleyes1 Write S L O W E R please!!!!

I just love hearing about Soarin'. I plan to ride it as much as possible on my next trip, it's so much fun! :lovestruc

I can imagine pushing her up that hill was not fun at all, I've often thought that that hill would get the best of me even when I am not pushing anything. :rotfl2:

Well, i'm not going to spoil the surprise of how many times we ended up riding it (we DO have another day and a half to go!) but i could easily live on Soarin'. It's just heavenly. :lovestruc

That hill.... looking back the other day while i was writing this segment, i was kind of laughing remembering it... but at the time i was definitely NOT laughing. It was hot, hard, heavy work and not how i'd choose to get through my vacation!

Hey Sara! Happy birthday to Emily and Michael! That's cool their birthdays are so close together - Katie must feel special that she gets hers to herself!

The front row on the far right hand side, it was AMAZING. It was easily the best ride we'd had so far - and we'd loved all the other ones as well. i'm not sure what it was, or why the swoops seemed more pronounced, but they definitely did and it was really awesome!!

i'm sorry we missed the 1900 Park Fare breakfast too, but there was just no way :upsidedow

HI Sare!!!

Paula!!! You're back! i'm glad laughing at me made your day...because seeing you post has made my day! Now we just need to hear from Vickey and i will be one happy bunny!

Yes.... i know, it's funny. It's a pretty good image i must say, and far funnier in retrospect than it seemed at the time. It was really pretty horrible actually. i guess the chair really had its benefits - Jess was rested and cheerful (more than cheerful, she spent most of the morning laughing hysterically), and she didn't get tired as we went around. She also waited in the long Soarin' line with no complaint. However... it was murder on my back, which had already been sore the night before, and i was definitely overheating more than i would have been (but it was a really hot day anyway).

It was nice to be able to just park her somewhere and then step away to take her picture, like in front of that fire engine :lmao:

Okay, i admit, it was nice to just park her and walk away anyway :rolleyes1

Anyway, if you think the image of me straining half to death to get her UP the hill is funny, try to imagine us on the way down as i fought the temptation to just let her go rather than try to keep up with her!

OMG Sare! Your such a good sister pushing Jess in the wheelchair! I can't even imagine! You guys are too funny riding Soarin!! I wonder if you rode it more then 5 times...

i'll never tell :rolleyes1

Well, til the next updates anyway.

Your trip is getting so close, i'm so excited for you!!

my reluctance to push Jess in her wheelchair any further than necessary combined with our increasing hunger led us to Sunshine Seasons in the Land. We both picked up a Turkey with Muenster cheese on Focaccia and a piece of strawberry shortcake and went and found a table.

oh. my. goddess. It was DELICIOUS!!! Just as good as the Yak & Yeti had been the day before. We loved the spicy sandwiches and the heavenly strawberry shortcake. It was FANTASTIC. We really enjoyed it, both of us. Yumm-oh.

So then we were really floating - awesome ride on Soarin', fantastic lunch.

Jess was ready to call it a day.

What? We were doing the World Showcase today! i had FPs for TT and M:S to use. i wasn't ready to go back to the hotel! i had to work off that lunch before our sure-to-be-yummy last dinner at Kona!

And so the great debate began.

What would we do? :confused3

i'll spare you all the long discussion that followed, but eventually we agreed that Jess would take her KTTW and head back to PoP, and i would stay, use my FPs, tour the World Showcase, and then meet her at the hotel in time to get ready for Kona. She promised not to tell anyone she'd be alone in the room, and to get her hair washed and get dressed before i arrived. i promised to buy my stepdad a souvenir from France.

i was REALLY nervous about letting her go back alone, but she's 18 years old for heaven's sake. Gotta let go sometime. i walked her out to the entrance, and we decided to have one last ride on...

No, not Soarin'.

After our ride to the future, we returned the wheelchair. i walked Jess part of the way back towards the buses, and then she convinced me she could manage and i should go get started. So, with a quick stop at the bathroom outside the gate, i made my way back in. i did have a PPCM take a solo picture in front of Spaceship Earth but as i did not buy the Photopass CD, you don't get to see it. Sorry. i believe i was wearing the green Tinkerbell t-shirt again.

i headed directly to

DSC00690.jpg

and spent forever in the FP queue. At least 20 minutes, i would say. It seemed like a long time. i sent a couple of text messages (for those wondering, no, i still wasn't receiving any). Finally i got on, and rode with a nice family of 4 - the five of us had the car to ourselves. It was fun, i still loved the outside part the best. This time i had my Photopass card with me to swipe at the end but again, didn't buy the cd :(

So anyway i then headed over to

DSC00691.jpg

where i decided that i was going to ride Green standby, as it was only 10 minutes, and then use my FP to ride Orange if i thought i could handle it. i checked with the first CM about whether my FP would still be ok to use in half an hour and explained why, and he reached into his pocket and pulled out a brand new FP for me to use so i could zip through both times! :goodvibes What a nice man! :goodvibes

So i went in, rode Green and liked it, so hopped right back into the FP line with an Orange card and enjoyed it even more! If i ever go back i'm going straight to Orange! It was great!

Coming off Mission:Space it was almost four o'clock. i headed towards Mexico.

Coming up next, would i make it all the way around the World Showcase? Would i make it back to PoP and be able to get changed for dinner? Would we make it to Kona or would this be the day we had to cancel TWO ADRs? Stay tuned!

The next update is going to be HUGE and require at least three posts because of all the photos, so be warned! :goodvibes

I'm sad that it's almost over!!!! :(

me too! But i figure the only way i'm going to actually get around to scrapbooking this trip is by getting the TR done - that way i'll be desperate to work on it to extend the magic a lil more! :goodvibes

Awww, but it can't be almost over! :sad2:

I can't wait to hear about your solo time in Epcot. :thumbsup2

Hehehehe it's really more looking than hearing... :rolleyes1 i'm looking at the update again and i really didn't say much!

Can't wait to see all those World Showcase pictures!!!! I hope you made it back to Kona! :scratchin :worried:

Sara

i hope we did too! :upsidedow

i'm going to post the huge update sooooon i promise!

it's my weekend off and i was thoroughly enjoying it, until i woke up earlier this morning and it's SNOWING :scared1: we've had a nice mild week, all our snow was slowly disappearing, and now it's snowing again? i wanna go back to Florida!!!!!!!!!!! :sad1:

(so i went back to bed for another three hours. if the weather's not going to make an effort..... it didn't work, though. it's still snowing. :sad2:)

Wow...I guess I've been away for a few days, huh? So glad I'm caught up with your TR; loving the visuals of your daily escapades!

I can't tell ya how badly I need that first Eeyore tshirt. That is SO stinkin cute. :upsidedow Just for the record, I've known since we left DW that one of my must-dos on the next trip is Soarin'. Howevah, since reading your TR entries, it's not just a 'yeah we need to try that' but 'let's go NOW!' kinda thing.

I hate that you missed your bfast, but sometimes we just need that extra bit of downtime. I bet some little girl DID get a great treat that morning, :goodvibes and it wouldn't have been the same experience you had planned had you both gotten there cranky and late. :confused3

Hey! Welcome back! :woohoo:

Soarin' even goes beyond the must-do list... it's like.. the must-do-at-least-twice-and-right-away thing. Doesn't even need a list!

You're totally right that we wouldn't have enjoyed it as much, as tired as we were. And hopefully some little girl was very happy :goodvibes

i'm not going to say much here, since we all know the order of the countries as you come around from Mexico. i do think i got a couple of nice pictures so i will post them here (and in the next post, too, i'd imagine - there's lots!)

A couple of points: there are some character photos, but they all had lines so i just did my best to stand and wait until they had no children with them and then take a picture.

i really like taking pictures of architecture from "odd" angles, so there are lots of those. i just love how the lines look sometimes!

The only countries where i got to do more than just glance in, were Morocco, France, and England. Around France i ran into a PPCM who took me around and took a couple of pictures, but since the sun was directly behind me none of them turned out that great. i still wish i'd asked her to take one on my camera, though, since it would be nice to have one. i then met another PPCM who took a few shots on the bridge, still with France behind me, but none of them were especially nice.

So, on to the photos!

And so concludes the tour!

Things i love about Disney #8: The World Showcase. All those countries there to explore and experience...how cool is that?!

Coming up next, would i make it back to the hotel in time to get ready for dinner? Would we make it to Kona? Stay tuned...

Wow! Great pictures, Sare! The buildings are so beautiful, aren't they? I'm looking forward to actually enjoying more of them on our trip without kids in May! :goodvibes

That's a shame about the PP pics! I'm sure they were nice!

Thanks! You're going to have a great time there as adults without the kids (though i'm sure you'll miss them). If i ever get to go again, it will most probably be without Jess and i'm sure i'll miss her, but this day at Epcot made me realise it would be really nice to be there alone, too.

The thing about the Photopass pictures is that yes, they were nice. Some of them were really nice in fact and one of them i loved so much that i bought the digital download of it. But there were only about 60 pictures in total, which would be more than $2 per photo to buy the CD! Even after i went and made about 200 borders and things, it still just wasn't worth it. Especially since i'm about to spend $80 printing the digital scrapbook i made (one copy for me and one for Jess as her highschool grad present). (And yes, i promise to share that one picture, :rolleyes1 at the end. And i'll also let y'all see the scrapbook too!)

Absolutely adore the WS...you took some amazing pictures and I'm so glad you and Jess were able to work out a deal YAY!! Can't wait to hear more!
