How do we love Disney? Let me count the ways... (updated & completed 5/11)

Oh goodness. I hate that sinking feeling when you realize something important like that has gone missing. Awful, awful feeling! I am so glad you found it and everything turned out alright. :thumbsup2

I'm forever sticking my CC in my coat pocket...especially when i need to get gas at the station..... and then being in panic mode when it's not where it should be:sad2:

I hope your day turns out magical:cloud9:

Paula

Yep! Me too! Happened to me today. Went to Walgreens and shopped and then went to pay...no card. It was in my coat from the other day when I got gas. Where's the hand slapping the forehead smilie? Ugh

Glad you found it Sare! Can't wait to hear where you went! :yay:

Good to know i'm not alone! The thing is though, i almost never use my credit card, so i've never lost it before. It's always in my wallet! i was SO relieved to find it, like "oh, we're not going to have to sleep in the bus station after all!!"

Looking back i'm not sure why i was panicking about that, either my mother or grandmother could have faxed their credit card info to the hotel and we would have been fine, but at the time that's what i was fixated on.

Oh well, it's all good. Found it safe and sound. Plus i realised that since i had only used it that very first night there wouldn't be any surprise charges on it when i got the bill! :thumbsup2 All the souvenirs were bought with cash, whoot!

It's a nice sunny Sunday morning, and i am stuck at work!! :sad2:

Ten more days til my BF gets here! :dance3::woohoo::banana::cool1:

NOOOO!!!!! This can't be the end???? :(

Almost!

Actually what's really sad is that i write my TR in Notepad and stock up a few updates, so that (a) i can read them over a few times and make any changes or additions and (b) when i'm really swamped with life i can still post. And it's FINISHED! :sad2: It's all written, just has to be posted. THAT sucks.

But YOU are going so SOON! :woohoo:

OMG Sare you must have been flipping out! I hate that sinking feeling when you realize you lost something so important! Terrible!!!

I'm so glad you found it safe and sound!

I wanna say can't wait to read the next update but I know it's ending soon :( so I'm not going to!

Yup i was freakin'. It was a pretty tense couple of hours for sure.

i know what you mean, when i am reading TRs i always want another update, but hate to see them end

Hi Sare! I am finally caught up after much too much time away from the boards! I'm so sad that your TR is coming to an end. You are such a good sister to push Jess in the wheelchair! It's too bad your last Kona experience wasn't the best. I can't wait to hear what park you went to on your last day, the suspense is killing me. Now you have to plan another trip so you can do more of WS!!

Gosh, i hope it's not literally killing you... i'd hate to be responsible for that! :lmao:

Welcome back! :goodvibes we missed you.

i don't know if or when i'll ever get back, but WS will definitely be a priority!!

End to the suspense coming right up...

In the end we decided to go...

back to the MK. i had promised Jess another ride on the Haunted Mansion. i liked the idea of going back to AK to ride EE and maybe do the Safari again (and have some yummy Yak & Yeti CS for lunch!) but i knew if the humidity was already bothering me that AK would be a BAD idea.

So, to MK we went. We had some photopass pictures done on the gate side of the train station which i obviously don't have to show you.

We walked down under the track and into the square JUST in time for this parade to go through. Now i'm not sure what it was, it was about 12:30pm. i don't have the Times Guide for that afternoon, or if i do i can't seem to find it. It looked pretty similar to the Block Party from DHS!

As you can see, i had a pretty good view until some people went and stood directly in front of me. After a while Jess and i got tired of the parade and the hot sun and the annoying people so we ducked into the candy store and bought a couple of cones of jelly beans to bring home. Then we followed the parade down Main Street, turning left (away from the castle) and heading into Liberty Square via the bridge by Crystal Palace. i took this from the bridge:

We walked through Liberty Square and headed directly for the Haunted Mansion, where the line was.... 55 minutes? Are you nuts? Jess decided she didn't need to ride again that badly (sorry, Jen) and we headed down through Fantasyland.

It was really hot, and really humid, and we were both in that "it's our last day" funk. Jess wanted a cold drink, so we grabbed water and juice from a cart, and i realised that this...

was loading for their next show, so i dragged her in there. It was air conditioned in the inside holding line area and we sat on the rug for a few minutes while we waited.

We enjoyed it. Again Jess was freaking out about the things flying at her :confused3

After PhilharMagic we continued through Fantasyland into Tomorrowland, where we decided that our very last ride would be...

Yup, the TTA. So fun. :cloud9:

As we stepped off i pulled my cell phone out of my pocket to check the time, and had a wonderful surprise: 27 new text messages! Whoot! my phone was working properly again! :woohoo: i was super excited but decided to wait and read them all when i was on the bus.

After TTA we headed out of the park and hopped the bus back to PoP. It was SUPER crowded and full. i managed to squeeze Jess into a seat near the front, and i headed back to find room. The room i found turned out to be right at the edge of the stairwell, and after a minute or so of standing up i sat down on the floor of the bus with my feet in the stairwell. i know, not particularly safe, but it was just too crowded and my back was sore!

So i sat in my forbidden spot and read through my text messages and started exchanging texts with gellybean like crazy! It was madness! We were really making up for lost time. We seemed to get back to PoP very quickly. By the time we got there, my thumbs were sore from the texting but i was happy my phone was back to normal!

So, we got back to PoP and were happy to be inside and air conditioned! We made our way through the shop, around and around, collecting the things we'd decided to buy as souvenirs for ourselves and our friends! We paid for our purchases and then went and got some lunch (pizza) and one last frozen Coke. This left us with 6 unused meal credits! As gellybean pointed out that's three dinners at Jiko! However, all told, i'm really glad i got the deluxe meal plan. Despite having so many credits left over, it made it so much easier just to not have to worry about it at all. Besides, it was part of the package and i didn't get a choice lol. We did use all our snack credits though!! (i soooo wish, in retrospect, that i'd used more of them up at Goofy's!!!)

Lugging our souvenirs, we went to luggage services about half an hour before our ME was due. We picked up our enormous amount of stuff (holy cow, crap seems to multiply when you are going to have to lug it around!). i almost immediately managed to run over my toe with one of our suitcases, which Jess found mightily amusing and i did not.

Then, as it must, the inevitable happened: The Magical Express came to whisk us back to reality.

I really enjoyed your trip report. Well done! I loved the shirts you and your sister wore in all the pictures. Did you make them? I'm glad you guys had a good week. Time to plan another trip maybe?

Awww sorry Jess didn't get her last ride on Haunted Mansion, but it still sounds like a nice day. MK sounded crazy busy that day!:scared1:

Isn't it just awful when you have to leave?

Even when you are tired, feet are sore, etc, etc....it still hurts. :sad1:

Glad your phone started working again! :goodvibes

Sara

great TR Sare!! I'm sad to see it end, but I guess I can just look forward to your next one now:thumbsup2

Hope for your sake (and ours:goodvibes) that it's soon!!

i really wish i was planning another trip!!!

The shirts we wore came from the Disney Store actually, i bought them in October and "Mickey" gave them to us for Christmas with a promise to see us soon :goodvibes

It turned out not to matter that i hadn't bought quite enough shirts because we just rewore our favourites again.

Thank you, i'm glad you enjoyed my TR :goodvibes ... There are two installments left to come, don't desert me yet!

i'm sorry we didn't make it back onto the Haunted Mansion, too, but it was just too hot, too crowded, and too long a wait!!

Yep, it sucks to leave, no matter what!

Paula

Thanks Paula  Not quite over yet!! How is your new job going? Well, i hope!!

I haven't started it yet... I was required a 3 week notice for my current one:headache:

I get to start on 4/20:woohoo: can't wait! Thanks for asking!!

Oh, bummer  Well, that's not so far away :goodvibes It's the day after the birthday i'm still undecided on cancelling :lmao:

i know it always seems like longer when you're on your way HOME from vacation, but it seriously took us FOR EVER to get home!

We took the ME to the airport and checked in at the Air Canada desk, where we happily surrendered our heavy suitcases (not too heavy though, no surcharge, yay!). Then we went upstairs, where we sat and waited a while before going through security. i bought a couple of Milky Way chocolate bars (my absolute favourite and you can't get them in Canada ) and tucked them in my backpack to bring home. They didn't have any Cherry Coke and i was really regretting not emptying my wallet and buying a few from the vending machine at PoP when i saw them that morning.

i wandered through the Disney store in the airport (still looking fruitlessly for one of those "Mine. Mine. Mine." t-shirts) and then through the Universal Studios store, without buying anything in either.

Eventually we got bored and decided to go through security. No problems there.

Once we'd gotten through and took the little fake monorail to the terminal, we sat down near Burger King and i tried out their wi-fi with limited success. i managed to send and receive exactly one email, but it passed a few minutes. Then i wrote Paula's and Vickey's postcards and tried to find somewhere to mail them. Uhoh. Darnit, why'd i wait so long? Luckily the nice woman at the little shop said she would mail them for me. i had my doubts but i guess she mailed them, since both Paula and Vickey received them! :goodvibes

We got some food from Burger King (pay for food with money? how bizarre!) and picked at it, then picked up all our crap again and moved down to the gate, where we just sat and spaced out for a while, reflecting on the awesomeness of the trip.

FINALLY we got to get on the plane. OVER FOUR HOURS from the time we left PoP Century. Holy cow that was a LONG wait.

The flight was uneventful except Jess experienced some discomfort on the descent. Somehow me telling her that that's how my ears feel EVERY time i fly didn't make her feel better :confused3 Eventually she managed to pop one of her ears and felt a little better, but it wasn't until we were in our hotel room later that she got the other one fixed.

We arrived in Toronto and went through customs, again with no incidents. We went outside and i phoned for the hotel shuttle to come and get us, again speaking to a very pleasant but completely unintelligible person. Finally the shuttle came for us and whisked us back to the hotel, where we checked in and i pretty much got straight into my pajamas and into bed before Jess even got her shoes off. Well, not quite, but close.

She came out of the bathroom saying "I fixed my other ear!" and i said "That's nice, now get your a** in bed and turn off the light." Or something to that effect. Such a nice sister, eh? :confused3

We got up the next morning around 10. It felt like i could have slept another 9 hours, but we got up and dressed. We'd missed breakfast in the hotel so we just caught the shuttle back to the airport (that was depressing) and had JUST missed the GO bus. Darnit. We went inside and had chocolate croissants and yogurt while we waited. And waited.

Finally we got on the GO bus and made it back to the Yorkdale terminal where we had to wait for our Greyhound.

And i mean wait.

Like two more hours.

Would we EVER get home?

Yes, eventually, we did. The Greyhound was reasonably uneventful. i sat with a nice woman who asked some questions about the trip and then we both read our books all the way home. Jess sat with a teenaged boy who asked some questions about the trip and then disappeared into some kind of (mercifully quiet) video game. Jess slept most of the way, i seem to remember.

And, suddenly, the city lights were welcoming us home.

my mum and stepdad came to meet us at the terminal and we very happily stumbled into the house.

And... that's it!

Final thoughts soon...

Wow! What a long trip to get home. How far are you from the airport to have to take a bus home? I'd be tired too.

:sad2: I don't want your report to end! Maybe you should start over again from the beginning to see if you missed anything ;)

Can't wait for your final thought!

Wow! What a long trip to get home. How far are you from the airport to have to take a bus home? I'd be tired too.

According to mapquest it's about 250 miles. We do have an airport here in our city but it was an extra $1,000 to fly from here, and it only cost about $500 for the bus tickets, two hotel nights, and food, so that's what we did.

:sad2: I don't want your report to end! Maybe you should start over again from the beginning to see if you missed anything ;)

:lmao: at starting from the beginning again. i don't want it to end, either - but since my BF is arriving Wednesday and i won't have as much time or opportunity to be on the DIS, i'm glad it will be finished before he gets here!

Don't worry though, i'll still be around reading :goodvibes

Hi Sare!! What a great ending to your TR, I can't wait to read the final thoughts! I'm so sad this is over, I truly loved your TR, it was so entertaining and I know how much this trip meant to you and how you were looking forward to it so I'm glad it went so well for you girls. :goodvibes Have fun with your bf!!
