How do those with under 200 points manage their stays?

I have 150 pts. Went to Vero Beach for 4 days in June now going to OKW for 4 days in Nov. Banked the rest of my points and borrowed for next yr in a one bedroom at VB then going back to WDW again Nov 2007 and still will have points to bank again.

I use my AP discount a lot for the weekends nights.

we always go from a Thurs to the following Friday 8 nts.

we do 3 nts (thurs/ fri /sat at CSR or POR) cash discount if available. then 5 nts at BWV or another DVC

we love DVC but very seldom use pts on wkends. It's cheaper the other way and then we can go again real soon.

If you need to pay for some nights to make a family vacation work, you might suggest to your family that the cash nights are their responsibility.

We are having the people traveling with us pay for our plane tickets. Dollar wise, it still gives them a good deal on the room.

We have 200 points and we have managed to rent 2 studios on May for the last 3 yrs. We go a little in the hole each year.
For 2007 we will actually bank points for the first time in years.

We use our points for studios for Sat - Sat in May (which is a higher point season) and it works our perfect for us.

I think we could actually get away with having just 150 now that our family bought their own DVC (thats who the 2nd studio was for these years)

You can do a lot with 150 (ish) points!!!

We became members in June 2006 w/ 150 points and just booked 15 nights in a studio at SSR - 247 points. (We banked 2006 points into 2007.) We plan on switching around during the 7-month window to include 3 nights in a 1-bedroom in VBR and 5 nights in a studio at BWV. However, I still don't plan to use more than 280 points. Then, I can still bank those points into the 2008/2009 use year.

Obviously, this trip will be our big "blow out" trip. We won't always have this many points. There are three of us - me (16) and my parents. We plan to mostly stay in studios. Like another DISer said, if we have to choose between room size vs. length of stay, we will choose the longer stay any day!!!
