So my daughter loves Tinkerbell and was THRILLED when I told her that she could meet her. However, the first thing out of her mouth once she calmed down was, 'How will I see her? Will she sit on my shoulder for pictures?'

Errr......Do they bother trying to explain her size?

the entrance to Pixie Hollow is set up to make it seem like you are shrinking as you go in...by the time you get to the fairies, you have "shrunk" to the fairy's size. So a child will be the "size" of a child fairy, i.e. smaller than the grown up fairies like Tink.

Hahaha....that is SO cute! I didn't even think of this!! I guess if my little ones ask, I will say that since she is magical she made herself big so it was easier to see her in the picture. Heck, they already believe that Santa has hidden cameras placed in our heating vents at home....they'll buy it!

Once you are through the rope line in toontown (like the other lines), you go into another hallway where there are paintings on the walls and music and lights in the walls to look like fairies. The trees, mushrooms and such in the hall start to get larger as you walk down, because you are being 'shrunk' to fairy size. They don't explain it very well but you can set the expectation for that and help her out. All the props in the room with the fairies are big too. It's all very cute.

When we went, the CM explained what was going on and actually had a pretty in-depth conversation with my DD about shrinking.

Thats cute:)

maybe peter pan was a giant:rotfl:

I played along and told DD4 we were going to shrink on the way to meet the fairies. She asked if we'd get big again when we left. I said yes, so I thought that was that.

She met the fairies, which was yet another highlight of her trip.

Not long after: "Mom, I don't think we really shrank." She believes we stayed the same size.

Yet she still believes she the fairies are real and she met them. I guess if she isn't confused by a 6 foot mouse, a big fairy isn't an issue either? :confused3

oh that's excellent - i before i read the answers i was going to say it could be like the fairies in sleeping beauty when they magically make themselves people size to take care of Aurora for 16 years before she went back to marry prince phillip.

but i love the idea that we shrink to be tinkerbells size.

Where do you go to meet Tinkerbell? We were in Toontown and were in the Princess line - I didn't see anything about Tinkerbell.... ?

My kids dont' buy the we shrunk line. But they do believe she has two different types of pixie dust - one to make her fly - the other to make her human size (which also explains when she is human size and flies during Wishes, why she has a wire to help her - she can't fly as safely when she's human size, so the wire is there for added protection for her to help her)
but my 9 year old totally believes this is how it works with tink, two types of pixie dust she has.

It's cute that they actually address this and shows a surprising amount of thought put into this meet and greet area. Given that any time you see the animated Mickey depicted with a real human being (like that Walt and Mickey statue), the Mouse is the size of a small child, I never thought this would be an issue.

Dont know when you were there as I think the fairies have only been around since October?? Whenever Tink's movie came out and she actually 'talked' is when they started. The line would've been the 'other' line next to the princesses.. Princesses on the left, tink and friends on the right.

Well, what the heck do you think Pixie Dust is for, if not to make Tink large enough to stand next to you. Everyone knows that.

We wouldn't want her to get run over by runaway strollers or deranged scooter drivers that can't even see her. Yup, that's it...it's the Pixie Dust!pixiedust:;)pixiedust:
