That sounds similar to the slaw they use at the Coral Reef, from allears too, "Crispy-fried Shrimp - with Jicama slaw and spiced remoulade" The combination of the jimica slaw and spiced remoulade is very good! That would be good with tomatoes! I bite at that sandwich afterall

It really was good!! I will eat one again. Our daughter Kody is so planning to try it in November.

I would never normally think of ordering that sandwich, cause I have just recently started getting a liking for tomatoes, but the picture made my mouth water. Yum! Might need to give it a try next time. And I love onion rings, so those would be good too. I am bad with the fried food. Guess working at McDonald's didn't help.

Too bad you didn't make it to your reservation. But a night in sounds really good too!

I love going into the stores too. Just too bad I every time I go in one, there are a million things I want.

Wednesday, February 15 dawned with a blue sky with a few clouds. The weather forecast was for a chance of rain but WBG and I decided not to chance it. We took his rain jacket and my beloved Mickey Mouse poncho that I had not even worn yet. Boy am I glad that we did!!


We ate breakfast in the dining room at the Ayres and then went out to the front of the hotel to wait for the ART. Anyone that knows me will tell you that I always wear Birkenstocks but I was wearing closed in shoes. I also had on my jacket it was a bit chillier even though it was later. Can't explain it.


We got to DCA and we were walking in and WBG turned to me and said, "So, do you want to upgrade to APs now or later?" This was a dream for me. I am the big Disney fan in our relationship not him. He is usually stoic and more into his bicycling endeavors. Not one to let any grass grow under my feet I told him NOW!!! So off we went to find out where to upgrade. We ended up back at the ticket booth and that was that!!

Isn't it beautiful? WBG's looks just the same.

Now with the rain there were not nearly the amount of pictures taken. Sorry. In my festive mood I pimped out a poster of my home girl Daisy.

The weather was quickly turning ugly. We decided that the first place we wanted to go was to ride Soarin' it is my favorite ride. Plus WBG needed to find a photopass photographer to get the photo for his Ap and that was right in the same area. It was a win win. Soarin' was a walk on. It was great!! This is one of my favorite rides in the park. We went in search of the photographer and while WBG go his AP photo taken I shopped. Our great nephew Jason loves all things Disney but especially Cars. What can I say he's a boy. They had a bunch of new Cars merchandise outside in an outdoor market type of place. Good thing I hit it then because once the rain got heavy all of those places closed.

This is Jason in his shirt. In case you can't see it, it says "Pull My Fender". Very boyish and he obviously loves it.

After that we started just meandering towards GCH to tell you the truth. I was feeling the urge for an early lunch. It was nearly noon at this point. We went to one of my favorite places to eat lunch. White Water snacks.

On the way WBG took this picture of Grizzly Peak. The skies were starting to look ominous for sure.

WBG who isn't really brave when it comes to eating different things had a cheeseburger and fries. The burger was on a whole wheat roll. He said it was wonderful.

My lunch the steak nachos with everything. It was more than enough for one person. Honestly I think he and I could have shared it.

I forgot to mention that I got another pair of ears on this day. The bridal veil kept getting in the way the first day.

After lunch we went to the store near the closed for refurb Grizzly River Run. I love this store it is so rustic and outdoorsy.

Of course we both had to pose with the bear!!

This is what I call a full boat!!

WBG has a thing for the fur hats. In 2007 he got a Davy Crockett hat. This trip it was the Koda hat. I love the manly, man look he is trying to pose. It literally started to rain at this moment so the hat was short lived and got put in the bag to be carried.

It was time for me to put on my Mickey Mouse poncho. I must tell you I got tons of compliments. And everything the poncho covered stayed dry.

We continued to meander around the park. I like to wander and look at everything. With the rain the camera didn't come out much. Sorry.

WBG did get a picture of this. It is the backside of Grizzly River Run.

Our next destination was the pier. I wanted to ride the Mickeys Sun Wheel. I know a lot of people don't like this ride but I do because you can see forever. Unless of course it is pouring down rain. But we still rode it. Short line on the rain.

Next we went to play the games on the pier. This is not something I would normally do but with the rain I really didn't want to ride a lot of the rides. I was wet and felt squishy and just couldn't face California Screamin'. The line for TSMM had so much of it in the rain I just couldn't do it. The games were a lot of fun though!!

These are the prizes we won. I won two lobsters and the Mickey Mouse. WBG won the big hot dog dog, a duck, and a turtle. Not a bad haul for $20.

Feeling drenched and like a drowned rat we marched on. I was ready to go back to the hotel but my love of the park just would not let me. So onward we trudged. We came upon the Little Mermaid ride and I had to ride it. I was so glad that I did!! I fell in utter love with it. Having watched that movie a million times with my niece I know the story backward and forward. We got off of it and turned right around and got on it again. This is a first for me. I don't even do that for my POTC. This ride struck something in me. So when we came to the end the CM working there asked me if I just wanted to stay on. Are you kidding? Heck yes and around we went again. No there are no pictures. Not even on the third trip through was I willing to look away even for a second!! I have a new favorite. Truly I do!!

We walked over towards Hollywood Backlot so that we could visit Animation and ride on Monsters Inc. I love this ride too!! We stopped at the Blue Cellar to see what new and exciting things were coming to the very walled up DCA and to be someplace dry for a while. Plus WBG was still suffering in a ton of pain although he was trying to be stoic and not tell me.

Look who we ran into!! Gotta love a star that will stay out in the rain to meet their fans!!

Window shopping. I thought this was so cute.

We went to Animation and it was wall to wall people. Everyone was hiding here from the rain. Ursala's Grotto was closed too so it was a disappointment for me.

But we did run into this fellow so that made it a little better!!


After that we dripped our way over to see Monsters Inc. This is such a fun ride that has an unfortunate location. One of the most fun things about this ride is at the end when you get to Roz. She was not to disappoint. She told me that I needed to watch out for WBG because he looked like a sneak fellow. She told him that she was keeping her eye on him. Then she told me that if he gave me a hard time to come back and see her. Always a lot of fun.

After that we wandered around again. Window looking and wall looking. DCA is still such a mess. Thankfully when we are going in November it will be a lot less of a mess.

After this I could not handle the rain anymore. It was time to head back to the hotel and dry off. I was so wet and miserable. My shoes were all wet and so were my feet. My pants were wet up to my knees. But a happy thought was that my anywhere the poncho covered I was dry!!

Next up our last day in Disneyland and to start planning the new trips. Yes I said trips!!

Patty, I bought it in February of 2011 in DCA. They had them for a while online in the Disney Store. I know they don't sell them in the parks anymore because several CMs wanted to know where I got it so they could get one.


I am a weirdo. I wear my ears at home. I wear them at the computer to keep my hair out my eyes. And I think I am going to figure out how I can at least hang our bride and groom ones on the wall.

When we got back to the Ayres I asked about newspapers at the front desk, and they told me to take a couple from the lobby and I did. I know taht one of the best way to dry shoes is to stuff them with newspaper. We went up to the room and I took off my sopping wet shoes and my feet were black for the dye!! Oh the thrills!! I showered and the stain still didn't come off, it took several days to finally get it off.

We decided that because we were back early enough we would enjoy the cocktail hour at the hotel. We went downstairs and I had a couple of glasses of white zinfandel. I do not normally drink but it was medicinal. I sat in a wonderfully soft chair in the lobby and enjoyed my wine and visited with a family visiting from Arizona. All in all another good experience. We really enjoyed the time in the lobby.

Another night back early and another night of ordering in. They had great pizza thankfully. WBG loves a pineapple and pepperoni pizza. Not my usual choice but I enjoyed it just the same. The bad weather had worn me out so I was asleep early. Hence I was awake again about midnight. Oh joy, awake with nothing on TV. And I had forgotten my booklight. Argh!! I finally fell back to sleep and was up and raring to go on Thursday morning. The first thing I did was look out the window. What a beautiful sight to behold! A dry parking lot and the sun was up and the clouds were non threatening!
Yay!!
