how crowded is memorial day weekend going to be? guesstimates

so we've reserved a hotel and everything now
but now i need/would like to have a guesstimate of what the crowds are going to look like

i mean not only is it a major holiday (in the fact that schools/works are off) but its opening weekend of POTC3
so im expecting major crowds

thats what i should be expecting rightt?

and my mom is wondering if anyone thinks there will be celebrities there because its opening weekend of POTC3

We have been there two out of the last three Memorial Day weekends and yes there were crowds, but they weren't unmanagble IMHO. And that was even before I found the DIS. There were definitely more people there than during the week, so make sure to get your fastpasses as soon as you can, but we had a great time and are in fact going at that time again this year. We leave in 8 days

Have a great time and if you go knowing that there will be more people there because it is a holiday weekend, you can plan ahead and have a fun!!

I would tell her not to get her hopes up. The premiere of the movie is May 19 at Disneyland and it opens in regular movie theatres nationwide on May 23 (I think). So I would not think there would be any added incentive for celebrities to visit DL over Memorial Day weekend. Of course she can always meet Captain Jack next to the POTC ride so that might count - even if it isn't Johnny Depp.
