Hi everyone! Thinking about taking our first trip in the month of October. Could all of you experts tell me about how crowded and how hot it is at this time? We ususally go the beginning of December and have been in April (nice temps and fairly managebale crowds) and the first week of May (beastly hot and humid and packed) Just wondering if we would be miserable there in October. Thanks!

Have to laugh if you really think May is that miserable. You should be here in August!
But, as for October, you may catch a warm spell, but it rarely is "hot" here then, and it is my favorite time to visit the parks. The first 2 weeks of October are less crowded since the MNSSHP hasn't started yet.

Ha ha! May was miserable and I'm from AZ! Must be the humidity and the fact that I was 5 months pregnant and it was the year of El Nino! Anyway thanks for the reply! We were thinking Oct 17 if possible so maybe we will just hit the beginnings fo the crowds?

I think it will still be fairly slow then, most people like to go to the Halloween party closer to the 31st.
Yes, being 5 months pregnant made it feel much hotter I imagine!
Hope you have a great time. :p

It was 90+ and very humid most days! I don't think I was dry until we got back home. Very light crowds early in the week, but got MUCH worse as the week wore on.

Hi - I'm definitely not a expert but we were just there this past October 17 - 25.

The weather was 85 -87 with very little humidity(if any) and no rain! It was beautiful!

As for the crowds, they were manageable. People on these boards were predicting large crowds due to the Fairytale Package so I went with that in mind. The security lines always looked endless, but once inside the parks (other than Sat. at MK) the crowds dispersed and using fastpass whenever we could the longest wait we ever had was about 20 minutes. The parks hours are shorter but that worked fine for my kids and it was fun to close a park every night. One night at MK during the last hour(on a night when there was no Spectromagic) was so much fun because it was almost empty and we rode Splash Mountain 5 times in a row with no wait!!

Oh and you have to attend MNSSHP, it is way too much fun!! I think Oct. is the perfect time to go, I don't think I'll ever go at another time if I can help it.

We were there 10/11/03 - 10/18/03 and it was unseasonably warm (mid to high 80's) and humid but certainly more comfortable than our previous trip in August. I did not think the crowds were that much bigger due to MNSSHP and we had a great time going to it. Be aware though that during this time the MK closes early on certain nights for MNSSHP so you want to plan around that. You can get in many rides during MNSSHP though so that makes up for it in my opinion.

I went last October 12-18 2003 and the weather was awesome. It was in the 80's every day and it only rained for a little while one day out of the entire time we were there and even then it didn't matter because we were going on Kali River Rapids at the Animal Kingdom where you get soaked anyway. The weather was perfect, I wore mostly shorts and sleeveless shirts (I found it move comfortable than wearing t shirts). It is a good time to go, crowds weren't too bad except on the weekends it was a little more crowded. We went to MNSSHP on October 14th and even though there were quite a few people in the park, the rides were all walk ons, we didn't wait more than ten minutes for anything.

We went in October too. The 18th-25th. It was our first time and we also were expecting large crowds because of the Fairytale package. The crowds were there but it wasn't packed and we never waited more than 10 minutes for a ride. We did wait 45 minutes to see Ariel in her Grotto though. We did the early entry for MK and AK. I thought it was hot but not extremely hot. I was pushing a stroller around so that could have made it worse. I would definately go in October again.

We have only been to WDW twice - both times in mid October because that is when we get a fall break at school. Both trips were near perfect in every way. Have no other timeframe for comparison though.

Each time the weather changed around the 16th. In 1999, it was our first day and we arrived at the end of hurricane Irene. Rained a little that first night followed by perfect, non-humid days. In 2002, we arrived on the evening of the 12th. It was extremely hot and humid that day. The next three days were noticeably better with a little rain and by the 16th the weather again was perfect.

Columbus Day we were at Animal Kingdom and it was quite crowded. Also realized later that it was EMH, too, I think. Not great planning, but still doable.

MNSSHP was very fun!!

This time we will miss going in October very much because the only time that is working out for us is midweek after Christmas...eeeekk!!
