I spoke to my cousin yesterday and he said the water is chilly ! How chilly, exactly??? Anybody know!

We'll be there in a couple of weeks and he went during July last year.

TIA :flower3: :flower3:

You were asking about the water at Discovery Cove. I just took my daughter this past week. The dolphin pool and the coral reef were chilly. As to the exact tempature I am not sure. They do provide wet suits. Those will help keep you warmer. But when you first walk in the water it is a bit of a shock. I didn't spend alot of time in the water at either of those two places because I was the one taking pictures. But the girls seemed to adjust quickly. Enjoy your trip!!!

I don't remember the exact temperatures, either, but we were told the temperatures during our orientation after check-in. The pool and river are heated, but the areas with animals are not.

I found that I adjusted more quickly to the cold water when I just jumped right in instead of easing in slowly.

My DS who was 14 at the time found the water way too chilly. We wore the swim vests. We were there in August and boy was it hot out. You can adjust to it but it is cold.

We were there in June, it was very cool in the water, but not so bad that we wanted out. It didn't take long at all to acclimate to it. We just wore the vests, not the wet suits. I think that it will feel good with the hot Florida Sun!

When we went to DC it was very chilly, our teeth were chattering by the end of the dolphin swim, but it was in March and it had just been thundering and lightning.

We went in April - DDs wore wetsuits, DH & I just the vests and we were fine :thumbsup2 I was expecting it to be a lot colder than it was - and I don't do cold !!!
It is a lot warmer than the Shark Lagoon at Typhoon Lagoon (which was below 60 degrees). I think we were told it was 72-74 degrees by the trainer at Backstage at Believe,

We were there on 7/3 for the Twilight Swim. We all wore rash shirts under our vests, and while when we first got in with the dolphins it was cold, we were adjusted to it in a matter of minutes. Our dolphin time was 5:30 and the day was heavy with cloud cover.

We just went to DC this past Sunday. The resort pool was warm, the fish and dolphin lagoons were cool. But both were far warmer than our ocean water here in Maine that my kids swim in all summer, so for us it was all good :goodvibes

Here, I'll give you an exercise to get used to the cold water.

Get in the shower, you can make it warm to start. Now slowly turn the dial to cold and stay under it. That's what it feels like, but the water temp is actually closer to 70 degrees.

Now if you really want to give it a go, put the water on cold, and take a shower in that from the start. When people in South Florida lost power because of the hurricanes, that's what we had to do. After taking cold shower after cold shower, the water stings. If you talk to people who went thru the hurricanes, a hot shower is one of the things missed the most.

The good news, is that after you swim in the cold water, you can relax in the lazy river which is heated. The showers are also heated with warm water.

Wear 2 t-shirts, and you'll have the wet suit on over that.

Water temp in dolphin encounter, ray lagoon and coral reef are approx. 75 degrees F. You get used to it though.

Then you'll find the water pleasantly appealing. The water in the Corral reef and Dolphin water are nice. The water in the pool is warm like bath water!
