How can this happen?? cruise cancelled!!

I find it impossible to believe that DCL would have taken final payment (or even an initial deposit for that matter) for a cruise that didn't exist. I find it very possible to believe that they had a somewhat questionable TA who took their money or, they were REALLY confused about the dates.

Given that the couple was from England, their TA was most likely in England as well (not directly associated with DCL). Assuming the reservations were made months in advance (a reasonable assumption), there could have been some confusion between the 7/9 7-day cruise and the 9-7 4-day cruise.

According to the man, they had been at WDW but stayed on I drive the week before the cruise. They needed rooms to stay for the week they would have been on the cruise.

Believe me, this is not an Internet Story. These people really did have it happen to them.

I would highly doubt that they booked directly through DCL. It sounds like they used some kind of TA and things got way mixed up or the TA simply didn't book them and took their money.

All I know is that if prior to mid september, one went to the DCL website to book online reservations, the dates during drydock were not available.

Thank you Simone.

But seriously Lloyd:

No, my brother, you have to go buy your own.

I could go on like this all night!!! Guess we know who like 80's movies!

Ah yes, did any decade donate as much to pop culture as the 80's? I think not....

It was impossible to book that cruise in Disney's system. The date simply was not available for booking.

Somewhere there was a screwup, but I highly doubt that this one is Disney's fault.

Ok, I assume this story eminated from the same family who also claim to have seen ELVIS working in WALMART's last week!

We have been on DCL twice: also have a daughter who has worked for DCL for almost 4 years, AND we are English.

Any muddle with regard to this "family" - is of their doing! We in England are well aware that we write dates differently to USA. Disney do NOT ring us for Passport Nos., and I would NEVER leave home and travel 5000 miles WITHOUT confirmation that I had a cruise planned! Disney do NOT book cruises for Dry Dock weeks', and the only time the ship has not sailed was, as mentioned, when they had the virus on board. (As did ALL other major cruise-lines).

This whole story sounds like a child's game of "Chinese Whispers"! Hehe

Happy cruising
