I was just using my microsoft internet explorer because DH was using our AOL account at work. This is the internet that came with the computer and I can use it with the cable modem.
I know people complain about AOL, but on internet explorer I was getting a popup EVERY 30 SECONDS!!! And when one comes up of course you can't move or type, you have to sit and wait for it. It took me 5 minutes to read 2 or 3 posts!
Give me AOL any day!

I've been using IE for years. I'm not really bothered by that many pop ups. I personally can't stand AOL.

I use Internet Explorer and don't get pop-ups. But I do on AOL.

Another IE user here and I don't get popups or at least not many. It depends on what sight I go to.

I have a AdZapper program at work that you can get for free along with CometCursor..Works great..DOn't know about spyware with it though so I only have it installed at work..:duck:

I don't like AOL, don't like Netscape. I'm comfy with IE. Plus I use a free pop up stopper. I never get a pop up.:)

I rarely get pop ups from IE & I've had it over 6 years.

I get tons of pop ups, often for porn, on AOL. I get the AOL ones right in the middle of things, not just when loading a new page.

I use IE and don't get pop ups unless I go to certain sites.

I have read that CometCursor itself actually contains spyware. You may have something on your computer generating the popups... I would recommend you download AdAware from here... it's free and works great.

If you'd really rather change your browser, Mozilla Firebird is great.

(The AdAware website appears to be down right now... check back later though, it's worth it.)

I hate AOL and Netscape!

I have never had an issue with pop-ups. Just a few everynow and then depending on the site.

Can you post the site for this pop up stopper, please? I had it on my computer, but it crashed this weekend and I lost everything on it. Thanks! :D

I also use IE, I like it, I also use the free Google Toolbar with the popup blocker though

I like IE. It works well for me and I can not research as well on AOL. When I am home on the aol account, it is hard to bombard the conservatives with articles showing the conservatives the errors of their ways.

Not a fan of AOL. I use IE and I don't get popups. That's my Panic-Ware working though.

Well I must be doing something wrong. I have the popup blocker on AOL and don't get any, but when I do IE I get tons of them--most of them with "microsoft internet explorer" in the title bar. I had a popup blocker once and it didn't work on those. I tell you true, I was getting a "netflix" popup every minute and a half today. It was 5x worse than normal which is why I vented.
I have the option of dropping AOL and hooking up to the service that comes with the cable modem, but IE is the one thing holding me back.
I have netscape 4.0 (that's right, 4.0--with Windows 95) at work and it's not much better, although I know netscape is up to about 7.0 now--we can't upgrade ourselves because our work computers have "deep freeze" on them and the tech guys keep saying "Soon..." There are many websites that I can't even access, such as foxnews.com--it says I need to upgrade my browser to get on.
