How busy in early May?

I'm thinking of a last minute trip to WDW with my 6yo in early May. He has a couple days off of Kindergarten and we could easily spend 5 days (maybe eek out another day). But I'm used to the low crowds of late January.

I would enjoy the warmer temps, time at the pool, maybe a trip to a water park, and longer park hours, but how will the crowds compare to late January? The rides are almost walk on in January, except for the most popular rides in the afternoon, but no waits to speak of.

Of course any trip to WDW is a good trip, but I don't like long waits, especially in the heat.

Help! :teeth:

I'm going the first week on May and this is the 3rd time we are going that time of year. I find the crowds to be managable, some rides may be as long as an hour but I've also had walk on rides. The most crowded and still long lines is Fantasyland. We've bypassed it just because of the lines.

Have a magical day,
Anna

Anna, when you say hour waits for Fantasyland do you mean in the afternoons or by mid-mornings?

We would hit Fantasyland on the EE day or first thing in the morning. Even in Jan, Fantasyland can have waits, not that I've had to do it the last couple of trips since I've brought older kids with me. I think my son would want to go on the FL rides, but not again and again--he'd want to move on to the bigger rides. Not even sure how long he'd want to stay at MK.

He's most looking forward to RnR, Soarin', and Everest. Not that he even knows that I'm thinking about this trip.

I'm actually tossing around the idea of going to Disneyland instead of WDW, but that really intimidates me and I don't have enough time to figure this out. What a problem, huh? :teeth: And this all depends on me being about to use the frequent flyer points that my DH figured out that he has.

Go it will be very manageable.

Corwds are rated a 6 out of 10 (with January crowds being about a 4 out of 10), so they are definitely manageable. However, we are going down on May 5th, and I went to change our resort reservation and found most everything we tried was booked...so, decide fast if there is anywhere special you want to eat/stay.

I've heard (although a tad bit smarm-ily :rolleyes2 ), that Monday the 1st is going to be crowded for MK. Are we talking spring break/easter crowded or just-because-it's-a-monday crowded? We were planning on hitting MK when it opens. :woohoo:

What is this May 1st business? I saw reference to that on another thread. :rotfl: And I'm afraid to ask what smarm-ily means! Please don't have me go to urban dictionary...I'm scared to death of that website--for good reason! :rotfl2:

I was pricing out rooms and looks like I can get a value without a problem--wanted to split a stay with a moderate, but am happy saving $, too. Guess I need to call and talk to a CM. Do you know if they are open tomorrow?

Once I figure out if I want to go, where and when, then I'll figure out the frequent flyer points. ACK, I'm in panic mode. :rotfl:

That was my guess, but I wasn't going to suggest it. I didn't even want to say the word. That word has gotten me into too much hot water and not in a #10 sort of way! :rotfl2:

For some stupid reason we always end up there in the afternoon and we never seem to deviate lol I've been told first thing in the am is the best time to go. Maybe you'll be smarter than me :o)

Have a magical day,
Anna
