How big are the hotel resorts at wdw?

Hiya, I am just wondering how big the resorts hotel are at wdw, I have read that rooms can be a long walk from the pools, bus stops, resturants ect.

We don't mind though as long as we have a nice room.

What hotel are you at?

Yes, they are large in girth not too much in stature. Contemporary is the tallest and Old Key West or SSR is the widest.

We stayed at Boardwalk last April and it was a small adventure back to the room, but nothing we couldn't handle.

You can always request a room close to the pools, elevators, stairs, etc.

As Laurajean1014 says, they can vary quite a lot...

If you are specifically asking about AKL (from your signature), then that - from my experience of nosing around - is actually quite a compact hotel. I believe that the hotel is arranged pretty much in a ring shape around the central pool area... so NONE of the rooms are THAT far from the pool. Ok, some will be closer to the restaurants/lobby/entrance... so if that is important to you, you could ask if they could allocate you a room near the lobby (although bear in mind that COULD be noiser and/or ave more foot traffic going past...).

My very limited experience of Disney resorts is that the DVC one's are generally bigger.
OKW and SSR in particular are very well spread out, I guess ultimatley it depends on which resorts you are interested in - I am sure they are all very different.

Then, AKL is definitely a very "manageable" size: not small, by any means, but not the huge amount of walking you may get at other resorts AND you are all under one roof (not seperate buildings).

If you think of the building floor plan as a car tire. The tire is one room on the outside of the tire, a corridor running around the centre of the tire and another room on the inside of the tire. On the outside of the tire is the Savannah for most of it (and the entrance and the car park). On the inside of the tire is the pool courtyard.

So, no matter WHICH savannah room you are in, you are NEVER far from the pool. The only question is where on the ring you are location away from the entrance/restaurants/lobby. BUT, being a ring, it will nevere be THAT far away

I take it that the rooms have views over different Animals? My daughter really wants to see giraffes from the room, would we have to request a certain room for this?
