Hi!I'm wondering where I am going to change my 4yo ds's diaper(high functioning autistic). He's 40 inches and 37lbs,and I don't know if he'll fit on the changing tables.I don't usually have to change him outside of home, but of course I will at WDW,I can't run back to Give Kids the World every couple hours or so.Thanks!

The changing tables are very big and your DS should fit fine. The only problem with the changing tables is that they are hard, cold metal. There are no pads available and lots of kids get changed on them without anything under them. **yuck** When my DD was under 3 I would bring a changing pad with me to slip under her, but I'm not sure how well that would work with your son. I know that my autistic 5 year old nephew (also not potty trained yet) wouldn't put up with a changing table. If your son is wearing pull-ups you may also consider changing him in one of the handicapped stalls.

The pp is right.

The changing tables everywhere are pretty big. But the cold hard metal SUCKS!

We always carry a thin blanket or something to use on the changing tables. I just roll it up & throw it in the diaper bag or bottom of the stroller.

The normal changing pads are way to small for my DS. By carrying a long thin blanket he gets complete coverage (head to toe) from the table.

Most times there is a paper towel dispenser next to the changing area so you can at least put a clean barrier between the child and table. If it's not metal it's like counter top material. Just bring a small folded blanket to put under your child's head for comfort. I like the baby care centers. There is one in each park. It may be a hike, but it's so child friendly.

I actually measured them the last time I was at WDW and they are pretty consistenly around 48 inches long (none were longer).
They are approximately kitchen counter height, so you might want to start lifting weights to be ready to lift a 40 punder up there. ;)
I know some people work on doing standing diaper changes to avoid lifting as the kids get heavier.

Go to the baby care centers. There is only one in each park but the changing tables in those are HUGE (probably long enough to shange 2 babies at the same time) and they are leather and Disney provides disposable paper sheets to put under your child. An attendant is also there cleaning the tables very frequently or maybe even after each use, I'm not sure. The ones in the regular rest rooms are smaller and very hard. Have a great trip! :flower:

Just want to add if I remember correctly, the changing tables in AK are not as big as the ones in MK or EPCOT (which are HUGE as AnnetteF posted)

Maybe someone else can verify that they are much smaller in AK baby care center?

happy day!
