How Bad Will MK Be the Thursday BEFORE Labor Day?

I have friends who are going to WDW just before Labor Day. They are planning to take their two year old to MK on Thursday. They have PS for Crystal Palace at 8:15, so they will be in the park early. Any experience just before Labor Day?

Thanks!

(We are going at the same time and may join them at MK, if it won't be too bad.)

See you there! Well maybe not. We are not staying on site so we won't be able to attend EE at MK on Thursday. We have PS for CRT on Friday so we will be there then. I hope the crowds are low but I'm not sure what to expect. We just got back last weekend 7/24 & 25 and thought the lines were reasonable (no more than 15 min using FP's and arriving early).

Oh drat! I put this post in totally the wrong thread! I'm sorry!

antmaril,

How exciting, my DH and I took my DD right before Labor Day 2 years ago. She was 2 1/2 yo and it was her FIRST trip to the world!!!

We left NYC after work on a Thurs. night plane, we spent Fri, Sat, Sun, at the MK and MGM only.

Didn't want to overwelhm her on her first trip. 2 days at MK and one at MGM.

WE HAD A BLAST!!!! My DH and I will never forget it!!!

To answer your question, it was HOT!!! But that did not matter to any of us, we were just so HAPPY to be there!!

It was NOT as crowded as I expected, many people are getting ready or are either already back to school.

All I can advise is get a charachter breakfast, go to the park by 9:30 or 10:00, enjoy Fanatasyland first (before it gets too crowded), and try to do some of toontown (most of it is air conditioned) the character meet and greets are inside and so are the lines, it's a GREAT PLACE for a 2 yr old. because they get to see MANY characters (that's all they really care about) and it's a great way to beat the heat.

I would then GO back to the hotel for a NAP and then come back for the parades and fireworks and dinner at the CP is Fabulous. If you have time go back to toontown, or save it for another day if you have that option. Don't miss Cindarella's surprise Celebration.

The best advice is go to a park in the morning, enjoy it, go back to the room for a nap and or swim or both if you can (middle of day when it is really hot), then go back to the park and finish.

All I can say is since that trip we have truly become DISNEY FREAKS and we have been back 3 times in the past 2 yrs!!!

Our next trip will be in Oct with our now 4 1/2 yo DD and our 8 month old DD as well.

WE LOVED IT at that time and would highly recommend it.

Just take it slow.....

As long as they are at the MK on Thursday, and not on a Saturday, they should be fine. As has been said, it will be HOT! But, crowds that week are very do-able, especially on weekdays. It might not be as empty as the Thursday after Labor day, but it will still be good.

I second that.. We went to the MK on Friday and Sunday. On Saturday we spent the day at MGM, the crowds were manageable there as well.

Weve gone that week for the past 2 years and crowds have been minimal. We have also done EE in MK that Thursday last year(2 years ago there was no EE), and it was great...all rides in Fantasyland were walk ons.

I agree that Thursday before Labor Day should not be too crowded at MK. Almost all of the southern schools are already back in session. And with labor day being late this year many schools in our area (Mid-Atlantic) are starting back the week before Labor Day which is when you are planning to be at WDW. So I would think it be on the lower side of summer crowds.

Have fun! ::MinnieMo
