How bad are crowds at MK in the evening on a morning EMH ?

I'm going around in circles trying to figure out when to visit MK in the evening. The only choices I have right now are on a Saturday with evening EMH and on a Thursday with morning EMH. We will only be going in the evening , which would be less crowded ? Thanks :)

Saturdays were one of the busiest days in the MK before they moved the evening EMH to that day. I would take Thursday hands down.

Ok thanks, do the crowds clear out any towards evening with morning EMH ? I figure if people have been there since early morning they may get worn out and leave early ? I forgot to add that if we did go to Evening EMH on Saturday we would have to leave the park about 12:30 am because we have to catch our flight the next day.

Thursday. Yes, they do clear out. I have found that usually the people who come in for EMH in the morning typically don't stay til close. There has hardly been a time that I haven't noticed crowds thinning out at night, but it will be more so on the Thursday one when people don't have a reason to stay. :flower1:

1. Yes.
2. Yup.
3. I don't think you'll find too many with experience recommending Saturday if the idea
is to avoid crowds.

"Crazy crowded."

We went on an late EMH Saturday over Labor Day weekend last summer and it wasn't too bad, but it was also 900,000 degrees out (the locals said it was "unseasonably hot") so I think that kept the crowds down.

If you're talking a summer visit, I really don't think there's going to be that big of a visit between a Thursday and a Saturday. It's going to be crazy busy no matter the day. If it's not peak summer time (essentially mid June to mid August) then Thursday will be noticeably less busy than Saturday.

It will be the 3rd week in August that we will be there. I know the crowd calendars show a small drop in crowds for that week because some kids will be starting back to school. On easywdw crowds are showing a 6 on the days we plan to go to MK.

You know, if you really want to avoid crowds in MK...

Go to Epcot. ;)

(And, I am only a little bit kidding.)

MK is busy every day.

Yes Epcot would be a choice if only they were open later.

We were in MK during Hurricane Faye. Hands down, the BEST day I've ever spent in MK!!!! It was too cold for the Florida locals, with temps in the mid 70's and a bit of drizzle, plenty of wind. Being from NY, I was plenty comfy in my shorts and T shirt lol. Additionally, I think most of the out of town vacationers heard the word Hurricane, and locked themselves in their rooms. The park was as quiet as I have ever seen it. We did Space Ranger Spin about 6 or 7 times in a row, literally a walk on. Same for Haunted Mansion, Pooh I think 2 or 3 times. I don't recall really waiting for anything that day.

That would be awesome ! I do not want a hurricane while we are there though lol.

Here's an example of what we were able to accomplish from 8 pm to midnight early last summer. MK had EMH that morning, and it was bumper to bumper traffic leaving the park when we arrived at 8.

Big Thunder 3x
Splash Mtn 2x
Space Mtn 2x
Mine Train (10 min wait right a closing time)
Pirates
Jungle Cruise
Haunted Mansion
Pooh
Peter Pan
Speedway
Barnstormer 2x

We also watched the parade and fireworks and had a couple of Dole Whips.

The thing is even though MK has a morning EMH, many (most?) onsite guests won't actually make it to morning EMH. They'll still stroll into the park at 10:30 or 11:00, but will go to MK because it has EMH because guests tend to think that the park with the EMH is the one they're "supposed" to go to that day, even if they don't take part in EMH. So I really wouldn't expect the crowds to drop off that much by evening, unfortunately.

TomH, that sounds incredible! Rain doesn't bother me a bit. So many people leave its great!

When my girls were little, actually about 5 days after 9-11, my husband has a business meeting in Orlando that he had to keep. So, since all the airlines weren't operating that week, he had to drive so we tagged along. We spent three days there and of course there was NO one there. Honestly, it being September, it would have been slow anyway. But we literally had the park to ourselves. I remember being in Epcot and just walking into whatever restaurant we wanted and sitting down immediately. Great trip, but under terrible circumstances.

The thing I would say about MK is that if you aren't a parade person, that may be when you want to plan to ride stuff. At the night time parade, it really thins out. Last year, the only time we went to Disney was on Saturday before Easter. Yes, stupid, I know. But we did it. It was busy, and they closed about 1 am, but around 10 or 11 the crowds thinned to very small. The people watching the parade didn't come back in, they watched Wishes then left. My daughter rode Splash and BTMRR twice in the space of an hour.

We're going at the end of August and doing MK on a Thursday evening and Saturday night for PM EMH. I expect Saturday to be busier but we plan on sleeping in that day and shutting MK down so I'm hoping for lower crowds as it gets later.
