I thougt the dress was ugly, I was not blinded by it. I also think that elitist means different things to the Republicans and Democrats.

Cindy may do charity work but that does not mean she can't also be an elitist.

I don't think Obama is an elitist but even if he were he would still get my vote.

I meant that you were blinded because of the dress, you assumed she's an elitist because she's wealthy and wears designer clothes. I don't assume everyone with money and expensive clothes is an elitist. I would only assume that, if they also had an "I'm better than you" attitude to go along with it. I don't think Cindy McCain comes across that way, and it has nothing to do with me being a republican, since I'm not one

Drug use and stealing from charities to feed your drug addiction are two very different things!

As for Cindy McCain, she comes across as a sweet natured, kind of pretty, typical privileged lady...Nothing wrong with that as that is who she is. I don't respect the fact that she had an affair with a man whose wife was in a wheelchair...but as that has nothing to do with politics, who am I to judge? Anyway, it really doesn't matter which first lady is prettier or the better speaker. My vote will be for one of their husbands, not them...

Carol (his ex) has supported him his whole career and recently made this statement about him:"He’s a good guy. We are still good friends. He is the best man for president."

An opponent once called her asking for dirt on John to which she responded: A gentleman would never have called.

If McCain's past transgressions have been forgiven by the woman most hurt by them- I don't see how they are at issue to anyone else. I imagine many Americans faced with the extreme challenges in their lives would have had the same fate.

Last night on the stage stood John's children - two of them were Carol's from her first marriage and adopted by John when they got married.

Last night Cindy introduced their family - the 7 children that stood on that stage with her were Carol's two sons that John had adopted, John and Carol's daughter, John and Cindy's 2 sons and 2 daughters (one they adopted) I highly doubt they all would have stood on that stage with herif they hated her.

There is no drama here - they might be dysfunctional but they all get along great!

I have no intention whatsoever of voting for John McCain, and I didn't see last night's speech. But Newsweek ran a lengthy article on her a month or two ago, and I was impressed by her. She really has devoted her life to helping children's charities. She also basically was a single parent, staying in Arizona, while McCain was in Washington. She looks so Barbie-doll like on the outside, it's easy to dismiss her as a rich society type woman, but there's much more to her than meets the eye.

I'm confused. I thought that liberals had empathy for those with drug addiction. I see that Patrick Kennedy didn't resign his office and was lauded with praise when he entered rehab.

Who is everyone? I think it was one person. Again, I like her. She has done a lot of good things considering how privileged she is. She screwed up, but addiction is an ugly thing. If John McCain were my husband I might have looked for an escape, too.
