How About Cindy McCain!

Cindy McCain is beautiful and more importantly she gives of herself. I admire her work. Her style reminds me of Nancy Reagan.

Cindy McCain appeared during the first night of the convention, it was a scaled-back affair, focused on sending relief and support to the Gulf Coast. Laura Bush was in a sensible white knit suit, Cindy came off looking like a wealthy woman meeting the ladies for lunch.

I love the dress, but she looked out of place, and it did not give her much street – or Middle America – cred.

She's dealt with significant ups and downs. Despite a life of privilege, Cindy McCain has dealt with significant challenges. She went through treatment for an addiction to pain killers in the 1990s. She suffered a stroke in 2004. And her substantial wealth has sometimes clashed with her husband's political career (including publicity over personal investments with Charles Keating, refusing to release tax returns, and campaign use of a private jet).

When Cindy McCain commented on what Michelle Obama said about not being proud, I thought it was fanning the fames of controversy. That is why I like Laura Bush, she is a classy lady, and for 8 years has managed to stay above the fray.

I'm confused. I thought that liberals had empathy for those with drug addiction. I see that Patrick Kennedy didn't resign his office and was lauded with praise when he entered rehab.

It is well known, so its not like it is breaking news. I do see a difference however; liberals are lauded for their "courage and bravery" when they enter rehab, and conservatives are "moral degenerates".

Most people do come by illegal drugs.....illegally. Drug addiction contributes to illegal behavior. I will bet however, that she has more than made amends financially to that charity and a dozen others.

Actually the charity, which she founded, was shut down. she has started another charity, in its place....

He did and he considers it a personal failure. Having said that, he has been married to Cindy for 30 years. If his first wife has moved on, I guess we can too.

Do you know what happend to the first wife? Then again I just have to say maybe he left her b/c he was a changed person also after his years in captivity. I mean no one ever brings that up. HOw many men come back from war and cannot fit into their previous life style?

She was in a horrible car crash and was disfigured while he was in captivity. She had been a model before and ended up five inches shorter and stooped. She waited for him. She raised their kids. But when he got back he admits to being upset at how different she was physically. People close to them, including Ronald and Nancy Reagan, were appalled at how quickly he "moved on". She has never said anything beyond "He was 40 and wanted to be 25". She is a very dignified person. He began dating Cindy well before he filed for divorce and married her five weeks after his divorce was finalized. In Cindy McCain's defense, she was young. He is 18 years older than her and knew better.
