How About Cindy McCain!

Ummm if they have been "Married for 30 years" which Cindy did say in her speech last night

They would have been Married in 1978 people.......NOT 1980

:confused3 The earings were certainly impressive if your into that kind of thing.

I love the way the article says: "Shoes, designer unknown - $600" If they don't know who designed the damn shoes, how do they know how much they cost?? Secondly, how do they know Cindy's earings are 3 Carat and cost $280,000. (the bulk of the cost). That article is silly.

I'm no Republican, but Cindy looked beautiful and age appropriate however, Laura Bush looked like she dressed for the occassion. She looked great and more appropriate. We're in times of war people!

I don't think that's odd. I know many people who round off the number. Unless she really doesn't remember!

In any case, she's a lovely lady.

She can easily afford the clothes - she's rich, with her own money, so I don't care at all how much her ensemble cost.

She had devoted many years and a lot of her money to worldwide charities such as Operation Smile. Their daughter Bridget was adopted during one of her overseas trips.

Yes but I don't see many supporters of Mccain backing up that mistake, he got divorced in 1980 in Feb and then just a few months later he married Cindy? Don't you know how long you have been married? That means they were dating since 1978 while he was still married which means she was the "other woman". Just stating what she said last night on TV.

Not saying she isn't a lovely lady but to me she just seems very fake and she is very, very wealthy so I cannot relate to her in any way. Does she know what it is like to struggle as a young woman? I am not a fan of her fashion choices but she does always look put together. :)

For so many who wait on Obama's every word that is a BIG mistake and some would question that about his character. I am just saying

She certainly is beautiful. Can anyone confirm if John McCain divorced his first wife because she was disfigured in a car accident? I read that this morning.

Never mind I answered my own question: From Wikipedia:
"His wife Carol had suffered her own crippling ordeal during his captivity, due to an automobile accident in December 1969.[55] Her husband became a celebrity of sorts, as a returned POW.[55]

In April 1979,[56] McCain met Cindy Lou Hensley, a teacher from Phoenix, Arizona, whose father had founded a large beer distributorship.[61] They began dating, and he urged his wife Carol to grant him a divorce, which she did in February 1980, with the uncontested divorce taking effect in April 1980.[20][56] The settlement included two houses, and financial support for her ongoing medical treatments due to her 1969 car accident; they would remain on good terms.[61] McCain and Hensley were married on May 17, 1980, with Senators William Cohen and Gary Hart attending as groomsmen.[61][19] McCain’s children did not attend, and several years would pass before they reconciled.[56]"

Nice. My father returned from his second voluntary tour as a door gunner in Vietnam a different man, too. The marriage between my parents didn't survive either and Dad went on to have a good and happy marriage with another woman. War changes people. Is this a secret? I am certain Senator McCain is a completely different man than he was when he left for Vietnam.

I, too, was impressed by Mrs. McCain's biography.

As I listened to her last night I thought about how much she has done for others and about what I could do for others here in my community. It just struck me that I should follow her lead and find ways to help others. It is funny as I could not tell you what she had on, and I think she was pretty nervous to talk to so many people, but my personal message from her is that we can all make a difference if we choose to. She seemed very kind, compassionate and sincere.

I personally didn't care for Cindy McCain's delivery style when she was giving her speech. Something about it seemed off. I know many disagree with me, but I also can't STAND the way she dresses.

However, she seems nice enough. Very attractive woman. I kept trying to think of who her face reminded me of and then I saw a pic on google images and it clicked. It's a very unflattering comparison, so I'll refrain from posting it here.

I don't think Cindy's strong point is giving speeches, it seems to be more of a hands-on, get-the-job-done, go where you need to go and do what you have to do kind of strength that she has. Of the two, I'd rather have the second in our first lady.

I thought she said almost 30 years - so I went and checked - she did

Your clothes don't make you an elitist, your attitude does :sad2:

Absolutely -- Additionally, there is an excellent article in the September issue of American Spectator defining what the term "elitist" means in the political arena. Neither Cindy McCain nor John McCain are "elitist." My copy is at home and I can't find the article for free online.

Actually, I thought that both of the McCain ladies were incredible. His 96 year old mother was in great shape, and her mind was sharper than that of a certain, not-to-be-named Democratic Presidential nominee. She didn't uhm, or err once the whole time. :thumbsup2

I believe it Michelle Obama who scoffed at the stimulus checks by remarking that what were you going to do with that - go buy earrings?

Cindy McCain has money and does not flaunt it - she is a woman who has done AMAZING things with her money. If at the end of the day she then wants to go spend her money on an awesome outfit for the night her husband accepts his party's nomination for President - I have NO ISSUE with that!

I guess it bothers everyone that Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt spent $140,000 on their nursery.

Cindy McCain isn't any only child as she claims. She has two half-siblings (dad's first marriage before he married his 'beauty queen'). One of them was so hurt by Cindy's rhetoric she spoke out. BTW, she's voting for Obama.

If Cindy McCain isn't 'elite' then who the heck is.
