How 2 Big Kids Conquered 'The World' In 6 Days - UPDATED Aug 11 - Conclusion

Yay a new installment! Your pictures are great and the Pal Mickey is so cute, I think I may have to get one for myself when I go down in a few weeks.

Oh no, where's the rest :confused3 Can't believe I've come to the end :sad2: Just found your report this morning and I've spent the whole morning reading both this and your pre-trip report and loved them both.

Please, please post some more soon :)

Thanks for your reply. We went in March. It was the 2nd time DD14 and I were there but 1st for hubby. It was also our first time on property, usually we stay with relatives. It took me 20 years to convince him to go and now he loves it and wants to make it an annual trip as long as we go during spring training for baseball! So now I'm saving my pennies. My way of saving is I didn't buy a pair of shoes I liked yesterday so that $50 went into my Disney account. LOL.

We decided to head back to the resort to rest up for a few hrs before heading to Epcot since it was EMH that night and we wouldn‘t be in any rush.

As we got to the castle and the Partners statue we noticed something we had never seen there before…a lack of crowds!! We had read somewhere to get a close look at Walt’s ring finger on the statue. We tried but the only place where we could see his finger had the sun right behind it. Deciding it wasn’t worth burning our retinas to see whatever it was to see, we decided to take advantage of the reduced crowd size and took some castle pics.

We went into the castle and took a few of the mosaics

We then went out top the garden alongside the castle and took some pics of the Cinderella wishing well. As Bonny was taking the pics, a family was walking by and one of the kids asked the mom what Bonny was doing. We couldn’t help but wonder what else someone pointing a camera at something might be doing. :headache:

Anyways time to leave. As we were on our way out of MK we remembered to stop in at Guest Services and pick up our MNSSHP tickets that we had ordered. :goodvibes

May18-m.jpg

We took the monorail back since we had taken the boat to the MK. Pal Mickey told us he was tired and going to take a nap as we were exiting the gates. He seemed to enjoy the trip back to the car.

We got back to the resort and filled up our mugs before heading up to the room for a rest. As you all know, refillable mugs are quite the hot button topic on the boards. Knowing that, we made a point of paying attention to the refillable mug situation this trip. After what we made our observations over the week and discussed it amongst ourselves the big question is “what’s the big deal?” :confused3 We found in 6 days the mugs more than paid for themselves so there’s really no reason for us not to buy a new one each trip. If someone wants to use an old mug, so what…maybe they can’t afford to buy new ones every trip. People were using old mugs from POP, old mugs from other resorts, and they’d fill these mugs and have them on their food trays as they passed through the checkout . Surprise…nobody said anything to them. Our thought is if Disney themselves don’t care, why should anyone else? Oh well that’s our one and only comment on the refillable mug issue.

After resting in the a/c for a couple hours it was off to Epcot… :thumbsup2

I love these.

Let's see...things you can do with a camera...
1)Take pictures
2)....
:rotfl:
I feel sorry for that kid...he's never seen a camera before.:scared1:

I'm glad to see that PM is still having a good time...he did look tired though, I'm glad he got his nap. ;)

I agree about the mugs...to each their own.

:thumbsup2

Thanks for the new parts! I love your shots of the park. It looks so much more peaceful than when we go...

Interesting about the mugs. The only reason I'm buying new ones is because I want the YOMD ones. Otherwise I'd bring my old POP ones ;)

EPCOT = Every Person Comes Out Tired

We got to Epcot around 5:00. The good thing about going to Epcot late is the abundance of parking close to the entrance. We were in about three rows so we had a really short walk. Our feet were tired but still in good shape. All was looking good.

We get through the turnstiles and start taking some pictures of the pirate ship that was there for the Flower & Garden Festival.

As we’re taking our pictures Pal Mickey giggled once and vibrated like he does when he has something to say. We squeezed his tummy to hear what he had to say and there was nothing. We tried squeezing his hands to make him talk…still nothing. Not even the end of day 1 for him and Pal Mickey was deader than Elvis!

We knew we could always exchange him but to be honest after lugging him around all day we had begun to grow attached to the little guy. We had heard he goes through batteries fairly quickly so were hopeful that was the only problem.

We noticed Spaceship Earth was a walk-on so we decided to go for a ride.

May18e-04.jpg

We usually do that one after we’ve spent a few hours on our feet and need a rest. We especially love the part near the end of the ride where we are descending backwards…it’s the closest we ever get to actually dozing off on a ride. It’s another one we hope they don’t mess with too much during the refurb. Yes it’s outdated but it’s fun as is. Did you know two of the figures in SE were actually in the Hall of Presidents at one time? The sleeping monk is one (it was Woodrow Wilson at the HOP) and I can’t remember at the moment who the other is (it was Howard Taft at HOP).

After we got off SE we headed over to Club Cool for a few samples, including the dreaded Beverly. After all we had read on the disboards about Beverly, we were expecting a cross between liquid feces and battery acid. To be perfectly honest, it wasn’t as bad as it had been built up to be. It wasn’t something we would ever go out and order, but it wasn’t horrible by any means.

Next we headed over to Innoventions where we had read about making our own plastic robots. It seemed like it would be fun so we figured it would be worth a try. We had heard you had to sit through a presentation first and that was fine with us. As it turned out though, it was a little more than that. We were directed to one of about a dozen computer workstations which also had a mat for using your feet to control something. It was then we began to suspect this presentation would be a little more interactive than we had thought.

May18e-11.jpg

We had to design a robot with the computer then one of us (Bonny was smart enough to opt for a supervision role) had to run it through an obstacle course. It was a lot more physically demanding that Lee had thought (remember the thick Canadian blood issue) and about halfway through he started getting stomach cramps (too much Beverly) then by the end he was worried about joining Pal Mickey in the afterlife. We’ve all read those news stories about the people who ride Mission: Space then die of a previously unknown condition. Well Lee was envisioning the headlines now…Fat Canadian Dies on Innoventions. Lee doesn’t want to be on the evening news…a guest spot on My Name is Earl perhaps but not the news. Fortunately he made it to the end and survived the ordeal. Then we got to make our little plastic robots (although Lee would have preferred to build a little oxygen tank).

May18e-12.jpg

Unfortunately something happened while we were in Innoventions. The sun had disappeared and was replaced by very dark clouds. Here we were with our expensive camera equipment and the late Pal Mickey and nothing to protect them from the coming rain. We make our way towards World Showcase and stop at one of the souvenier shops…that’s the good thing about WDW…you can’t go 100 feet without running into a shop with waterproof plastic bags. Bonny buys a YOAMD hoodie and we get a bag to protect our stuff.

We couldn’t help but stop to take a few pics of the topiaries at the entrance to WS.

Ms. H

More pictures please! :guilty: Sorry, my trip report obsession is rearing it's ugly head! Still enjoying your report...

BTW, when you say Lee this and Lee that, are you talking about yourself in third person or did I miss something? Just wondering...

I know it sounds awkward and more than a little Bob Dole-ish but where the pre-trip report was written by each of us taking turns, with this one we're both working on each installment together so "I" doesn't work out too well :confused3

Bob Dole is open to suggestions :lmao:

Ok now I am all caught up! The pictures at EPCOT are wicked good. I am with you on not wanting HM or SE changed too much. They are classics and some of my favorites. Can't wait to read more.
