How 1 trip turned to 2 and now turning into 3!! Update Pg 40 Days 3, 4 and 5!!

You to Lynn! Congrats on your dining ressies. We don't do the dining plan so I can't offer much help on the restaurants, simply because we pay out of pocket for all our meals. We only eat out once a day and you know I'm cheap, so we've only eaten at Akershus, CRT, and CP. (character meals) The other meals have have been table service.
It looks like you have it all under contol.
I can't believe that you're going to drive all the way to MI and only stay 3 days. Crazy girl! And I can't believe that you're almost done Christmas shopping. I haven't even started!!!

How were those meals??? Am I going to be mad for skipping Akershus if we do??

Yeah that's what we did on the last trip and we were on the road longer than we were there I think! I'm going to try and talk Dan into leaving Fri after work and just being there like the entire week and coming home the afternoon after Christmas. I don't love MI in the snow-it will be nice to see it but I don't want it to be cold or have to drive in it! If I can't talk him into leaving sooner, then we're going to have to fly I think....it's too much stress really with all that driving!

We're not planning on going back to MI until his cousin's wedding in Aug so he might want to stay longer....who knows with him!
Alrighty...I'm off to check plane tickets...nothing else to do this morning! Days go slow when they're like this!

o.k. get those boys to bed and you can read this in the morning. Just google Harvey Miller shark and you will find articles about what happened. It's easier than me tell you about it. Not that it upsets me, just a lot of writing. He is o.k. now. He still has a lot of pain and swelling in his knee, it'll just be that way from now on, and he has some paralysis from the foot drop and bite area itself. He had a tendon transfer to correct the foot drop. (he couldn't pick his left foot up, just hung there.) So now he can pick up his foot, but can't move it side to side. We are just grateful that he is alive and can walk. The shark bit less than an inch of his femoral artery.
I'll talk to you tomorrow. Go get the boys to bed and enjoy some peace and quiet.

YIKES!!! Alright...looks like I've got something to do this morning! (and another thing to worry about!) I'm glad he's alright!!!

ETA: OMG I read the articles. 1-he's a cutie! 2-you can just tell how much you love each other 3-that's amazing that he survived that! I'm so glad he's alright. I cannot imagine how scary that was for you not knowing it was him that was hurt right away. I can't even imagine. And it was just last year??? And you want to go back next year???? Did you call and tell them you're coming? I hope you're able to return and I hope you get to do everything you weren't able to do on your last trip.

Hey all!! I'm giving you all fair warning for the Dec TR...with coming back from Disney on 12/17 and going to MI either 12/19 or 12/23, I will NOT have time to do much before I start, let alone update much at all!! Please do not have high expectations until January probably once we're back and trying to get back into life in general. I won't disappoint you (I hope) and I'll take extra pictures to make up for it so I don't forget anything with the lag time between trip and report!

As long as you keep updating and chatting until you leave in Dec then I'll be o.k.
I really liked Crystal Palace. I like the selection of food and the parade that the kids can march in, and the interaction with the characters. We ate at Akershus for breakfast and it was just too heavy for the heat of June. Mary Poppins was there, and IMHO she is not a princess. Cindy wasn't there and I thought that she should have and not Mary. When we ate at CRT it was before they had the stepsisters and FG, but I'm sure the food is the same. I didn't care for the food at ALL! I didn't think it was worth the money, at that time. Obviously, I still do because we haven't been back. But, my DH wanted to experience eating in the castle. I would like to try CM next time we go. Have you eaten there? How was the food? I'm kinda picky about my meat.

Thanks for the compliment. I think he's pretty cute too The whole experience was quite surreal. We still talk about how we can't believe that it happened to him. He will forever be that guy who got bit by a shark. He was on Good Morning America and The Early Show, did you see those clips? It's crazy! And, no, we didn't get anything for being on those shows. Not even a pencil with their name on it. We stayed on military property so there was nothing there. (my dad's retired Air Force) I joke with my mom that I didn't even get a free two liter! It's not their fault. I have contacted the news reporter that interviewed us several times and told him that we were planning on returning next year. But, the more I talk to my sister, the more I just want to spend more time at Disney. It might be my oldest DD last trip there with us. She'll be a senior next year and probably will be working a lot between H.S. and College. Plus airfare is ridiculous right now. Anyway, I need to talk to Harvey more and find out what he is thinking.
I hope you find cheap flights back to MI. Where in MI do you go? I can't remember.

That's just so darn crazy! I did see the articles from those but couldn't watch them at work-the phone was too busy this morning. It would be very crazy to go back after everything that happened but maybe that's more like some closure too?? I wouldn't know. Personally, I'd probably stay at Disney since we're already there and wouldn't have to travel again. That's just me.

We're going to Saginaw....we're willing to fly into Flint, MBS or Detroit if we can't find something for the other two that's reasonable. I found $156 both ways ($312 total pp) from Airtran with everything at least $100 over that round trip. I'm debating booking now and hoping they go down. I also need to figure out what days he wants to go and look for a rental car deal.

In looking at the calendar now, if we wind up flying out on Friday night, we may just fly out on our way back from Disney since we'd be checking out on 12/17, we could add a couple of days and just leave from the happiest place on Earth! I'm waiting to see if there's a conference that I have to go to. I'm missing the closest one to us since we'll be at Disney, but the other closest is the 18 and 19 of Dec.

I got home today and and got around to checking our messages...they're usually junk since everyone we know has my cell number and knows they can call me at work if they need to.

Anyways, we had two new messages so I half started to listen to them. The first was a gentleman with a heavy accent. He said his name and that I'd contacted him and I couldn't place it at all. He then mentioned (shouldn't you say this first?????) that he was with WDW!!!!

Honestly, my first thought was oh crap-something's wrong with our trip, we can't go, something! He explained that he'd received my email about our recent trip and WDW executives were aware of my problems and they were going to send a $100 WDW gift card!!!!!

How exciting. He did leave his name and number and I plan on calling him back tomorrow. I'd like to thank him for taking the time to call and actually reading the email that I'd sent in. That doesn't always happen in large companies.

He ended the call by saying that they would see us at AKL in Dec and hopefully we will have a wonderful time. Now I cannot wait until our Dec trip.

I tried to call DH to tell him but he didn't answer so I'm telling my DIS buddies!!!!

Now, the "realist" in me kicks in...did they put a note on my ressie for a bit of extra pixie dust?? Or my biggest fear, did they put a note on there that we're complainers????

Alright...off to make dinner and spend some time with the boys since it's only mommy for awhile. Just wanted to share the good news!

I am having the most lazy day of all! My DH took our youngest DD to Cedar Point for the day. She marched in the parade with her cheerleading group. So, I just sat here and read my email and DIS'd ALL day. I love to scrapbook too! My problem is, is that I like to do my vacation albums first and then everything else doesn't get done. I just finished Mexico 2006. I have Hawaii 2007 w/shark bite info. My DH was bitten by a shark while we were on vacation in Hawaii, so I have an entire folder of articles and bills along with all the regular vacation pictures. Most of them are of nature since he wasn't with me for most of the trip. Then I have Disney Oct 2007 and Mexico 2008. What to do?? Where do you live in OH? The last scrapbook store in our area is closing at the end of this month. I don't know about you, but I do not care for most of the stuff at Hobby Lobby and Michaels. I love Basic Grey paper and products. Sorry to ramble.

The articles about her husband are amazing! It's a miracle that he's alive. And we're lucky to have her here with us!

No I haven't told y'all what happened just yet....sorry! It didn't happen until the end of the trip. I guess at this point you can tell it wasn't a good ending if Disney's paying us to come back huh?? I'll get there soon I promise. I was telling a friend about it tonight and started fuming again. I need to get it together before I call that guy back tomorrow.


ETA: Sorry I forgot to answer your shirt question. Yes the DISign on the front was in one of the DISigners photobucket accounts (I think rumblytumbly) and the personalized DISign on the back was may especially for Corbin He's a bit spoiled! (Dan had one on his shirt too!!!)

We ate at CMs on our first trip for breakfast. I can remember some things-it was such a whirlwind honestly. I'll have to dig through pictures. Maybe I'll write a TR from our Feb trip just so you can see pictures! It was ok but I wouldn't go there just for the food!

Of course I'll keep chatting away until (and hopefully during) our Dec trip to Disney and to MI. DMIL has the internet at her house so I'll be able to check in from there...of course, by then y'all will be so busy with Christmas that we won't be thinking nearly as much as the DIS!

Yeah Lynn, you jumped the gun and didn't give us the 411 first. I was like, what? What email?? Did I miss something? O.K., so we'll have to wait for that story. It sounds like a good one. Last time we were there with the kids, my suitcase was misplaced from ME. We got there at like 10 a.m. and I didn't get my luggage until 8 p.m. It was taken to the wrong room. It wouldn't have been such a big deal normally, but I NEEDED it They gave me a $50 credit on my room and told me to get what I needed in the gift shop. They were so nice!
O.K., so update on me. I changed my ticker. We are no longer going to Hawaii. Just too much money in a short period of time, plus it will probably be my oldest DD last trip there. So, I'm going to stay at Disney longer. (oh darn) I'm now staying there June 16-25. We might stay a day or two longer depending on wether I want to spend the extra $$ and stay at the BC.
I think it makes sense for you to just fly from Orlando to MI, if you can swing it. It sure would be less stressful. You never know what the weather is going to be like up here. How are you doing with your man gone? Are you surviving? How are the chic flick marathons going with two little ones? (yeah right)
Not sure if you saw the article of DH from last summer when he's in his hospital gown looking like a hot mess? They had just gotten him up for the first time and ralphed. So they gave him medicine to help the nausea and that knocked him out. We laugh every time we see that picture.

He is o.k. and doing very well. We love to travel. I would like to drive places so my kids can see the country. My DH says that they can see it from the air. He just doesn't want to be in the car with them for that long. My older two fight with the youngest a lot. They used to fight with each other, but now they can just aggrivate her. I have never heard of Pat Catan's. I am SO jealous you are going cropping with your daughter. I wish I lived closer to my sister because then we could go together, but she's in Nebraska.
June plans are going great. I am no longer going to Hawaii so I am able to stay at Disney longer. So we will be staying at POR from 16-25. Maybe longer. Who knows

reason I ran across this trip report. It has just made my day.
We where at Disney from 9/13-9/20 so I was looking at some
of your pictures looking for our family. I just love your pictures
and me being a mom of 4 with 3 being boys. Oh the boys are
so cute and what a fun age.

I do have a question as this is all so
new to me how do you hijack pictures? I will love to use some
of your pictures for my scrapbook. Oh, that's another thing
I have never done a scrapbook I wish I lived in what is it SC
or Ohio as I need help!!!!!!

Once again I have enjoy all your stories and the shark attack. OMG

I do have one thing to share our Disney trip ended on a sad
note from home. Our last night at the World we where going to
celebrate our anniversary at the Yachetmen's but on the way there
we receive a phone call that our 21 year old son was in a terrible
accident that claimed the life of he's best friend. Our son was
the driver but not at fault. So take lots of pictures of your children
and enjoy every minute you are together.

Yeah I don't know about flights...I've been checking all kinds of different flights today (and today's actually been pretty busy!) trying to find a good deal. Ugh!

Doing well...Corbin realized this morning that his daddy wasn't home and won't be for awhile. He had a tough morning but hopefully doing better. I left the nanny some money so he could "earn" a special treat today so maybe she took him to get a slush from Sonic. Those are his absolute FAVORITE thing. Even Carter scream "sushes" when we drive past in the car! Most kids yell for McDonald's mine scream for slushes...it takes all kinds!

Corbin did tell Dan last night that we were having fun without him! Don't know what Dan had to say about that but I laughed!

No chic flicks yet....Corbin was up at 4:30 yesterday and 2:30 today! I *made* him go back to sleep this morning...there's no way I'd still be awake! Friday night though I'm going to dinner with 14 girls for a friend's birthday. Should be fun to say the least! I picked up "Dirty Minds" for us to play at her house afterwards. Should be fun!

That's so funny about your husband! Poor guy! What a good sport to talk to all of the media like that!

Good Dec News!!!

I got an email from our friends (while actually the wife, the husband's in MD with Dan-poor guy being stuck with my DH!) and they're thinking about staying 12/14-16 at Disney!!! So now we're back on for Dec with them if we can find something cheap! (she's the one that we had the surprise party for and are going to dinner on Friday for her birthday-again!).

Now I really have to get my act together and get plans in place if other people are going to meet us there!


Also, on a side note, today is my mom's birthday. The boys sent her an edible arrangement today since we're so far away. I'll probably have them make her a birthday card tonight and get that out in the mail since I'm such a slacker! I'm not close to my family at al so this is rare for me to go to all this fuss for any of them. Maybe some day I'll share the entire story with y'all, but for now I'll leave it at involving a nasty divorce, foster care, being evicted from our house, being raped as a teenager and having the most wicked of step mothers. Other than that, totally normal life!

I'm actually a much better person for everything that's happened in my life. Yeah I'm a bit screwed up but isn't everyone these days?? I think I've done pretty well for myself and I was the bigger person to send her something for her birthday! So there!

Alright...I've got flight prices to look up, Disney plans to make and work to do....let's see....what to do first?

OH! If you have a Cookies by Design by you (they've got a website if you don't! cookiesbydesign dot com) they just started doing Disney cookie bouquets!!! They are so darn cute and there are two locations in Orlando so it could be a fun addition to your trip!
