We are staying 5 nights at BCV Sun-Thurs. I know we will get T&T on Wednesday. Can i schedule just Tuesday for housekeeping ahead of time and NOT have to call and remind them to service the room that day? Also, I wash my hair everyday while in FL (I bring my own Shampoo for my colored grays) and i may need just a couple of extra towels. Is it possible to just ask for those and not get charged, because if I am going to pay for towels then i may as well get the full housekeeping. I should bring coffee and filters right?
I may pack a small keurig - not sure yet. Does anyone bring their own coffee machine?

For coffee, bring the flat bottom basket style filters and whatever ground coffee you like. You will get one regular and one decaf filter pouch of Joffrey's coffee in the villa.

And like BillPA said, just call Housekeeping and purchase a towel pack if you need extra towels. But they will take that on your T&T day if you get them when you arrive. Unless you put them in a drawer or the closet instead of leaving them out.

I'm really confused. Doesn't disney clean resort rooms everyday. I was just their in June for 7 days at a value resort and they cleaned the room everyday. I didn't pay extra for towels and we took at least two showers a day. Is something going to change about rooms being cleaned.

DVC resorts are timeshares. If you book directly with Disney Reservation Center, you are treated like you have a hotel stay with daily full cleaning. BUT, if you stay as a DVC member or renter, you get limited housekeeping, only every four days. It keeps the annual fees down since members pay for everything at the resorts. You are on the DVC Boards right now. Not the hotel board.

Oh. See my confusion. I always believed DVC members got a lot more stuff. Better rooms, upgraded dinning, concierge access and unlimited fast passes and big discounts on tickets

I nominate you to be the new head of DVC!
If you think about it... Why not. You paid a lot up front. Why can't they clean the rooms everyday and give clean towels like everyone else.

as far as benefits ... Yes. Unlimited fast passes and a free q s dinning plan.

They can clean the rooms everyday and give clean towels.....however I think you misunderstand who would pay for those amenities. DVC owners “own” the DVC properties through lengthy Right to use agreements. That means that WE not Disney pay to maintain them through our maintenance fees. Housekeeping is a good portion of those fees. If we go to daily cleaning MF will rise substantially to pay for that amenity. I don’t think a large portion of the membership would support that as most people become DVC members to pay less for their accommodations than they would booking cash rooms through Disney.
As for the dining plan/FP I can’t see Disney ever offering that to direct buyers as they make a lot of money off selling Dining plans and unlimited FP with their VIP tours....in the end I think you just misunderstand what a DVC purchase is.
You are a buying a timeshare to hopefully offset costs for Disney accommodations nothing more....the whole “club” may have confused you...they throw in some perks to direct buyers but nothing like what you describe as it isn’t needed to sell. What you want Disney to give away is way more valuable than current perks....also how on earth would the unlimited FP work? Do you realIze how many DVC members are out there? It’s an insane number....if something like that happened it would be more like Slow Pass not Fast Pass lol

FWIW, one of the things I LIKE about DVC is the limited housekeeping. We prefer NOT to have housekeepers in our room every day. We are just fine with making a bed every day and keeping the bathroom neat. IMO, there are a large majority of members who feel the same.

Well, I learned something. I know this isn't for me. It's like camping. When I go on vacation i want a clean room and towels everyday. I don't want to cook and I want to go downstairs and have fresh coffee and food served by a friendly person.

If you want daily housekeeping, then feel free to pay for it. It remains an option.

Personally, if it were just towels that I needed, you could either wash them yourself, or just borrow a few more from the pool area.

Everyone values things differently and it’s good to know if this isn’t for you before you’d make a significant investment.
As others have said if you like the DVC accommodations you can pay for daily cleanings but that will obviously offset the savings of DVC.

Please don't "borrow" clean towels from the pool to use in the villas. They cost more to launder because of the oils and lotions and pool chemicals. So you are increasing the cost members pay. Just purchase a $6 towel pack - four bath towels, two hand towels, four face cloths and one tub mat.

Yes you can call housekeeping in advance and request the change of day for your trash and towel day. We have done so many times and I would say about 98% of the time they remember to do it on the right day without an extra call that morning.

If you want any extra towels you pay for them and they are removed on Trash and Towel day (or on a full cleaning day) so that you would need to buy another package for the rest of your stay. If you have a 1BR just hide the the extra towels in the washer or dryer. Please don't ask housekeeping for extra towels. The housekeeper doesn't want to turn down any possible tips and will give them to you free, but then our dues increase because we have extra towel laundry for those guests that try to get around the rules. Here are the prices for housekeeping services, but the prices can change at any time:

Additional Housekeeping Service Daily Rates:
  • Deluxe Studio: $30 per day requested
  • 1-Bedroom Villa: $45 per day requested
  • 2-Bedroom Villa: $60 per day requested
  • 3-Bedroom Grand Villa: $75 per day requested
Additional Trash & Towel Service Rates:
  • Deluxe Studio: $10 per day requested
  • 1-Bedroom Villa: $15 per day requested
  • 2-Bedroom Villa: $20 per day requested
  • 3-Bedroom Grand Villa: $30 per day requested
Pay As You Play

With Pay As You Play service, you'll be provided with the following amenities at no extra charge at the start of your stay and during each Housekeeping service. After that, you may purchase more amenities for the following fees (fees are subject to change):
  • Toiletries Package: $5 - includes 1 facial soap, 1 bath soap, 1 shampoo, 1 conditioner, 1 shower gel
  • Coffee Package: $3 - includes 1 package of coffee, 8 sugars, 8 creamers, 8 artificial sweeteners

The up front money pays for the construction of the resort. Our yearly member fees pay for operations. If there was daily housekeeping, MFs would be a lot higher. It's not a major effort for me to bring garbage to the disposal area each day and hang my own towels. I don't care if my bed is made because I don't make it at home -- I think it's a total waste of time.

It must be me. Your on vacation or are you DVC?

Am I the only one that feels, a clean room and beds made with fresh towels is to much to ask?

Any DVC member can get daily full cleaning and fresh towels. They just need to pay the price for those extra services. They are available for a cost depending on the size of the villa. DVC members pay for everything that is required to run a timeshare. Everything. The maintenance of the resort, any construction, pest service, daily housekeeping, linens, supplies. They pay for the wages of everyone working at the resort. In order to keep the costs the members pay down, they only offer the minimum to every guests automatically and then offer extra services for a price to any one who wants that service. The daily operating cost to run a timeshare is usually less than the daily cost for hotels. Hotels can just charge you anything they want. Timeshare must justify their expenditures to a board.

I take it you have never booked a timeshare or talked to a timeshare salesperson. Timeshares are not hotels.
