Housekeeping when staying 5 nights

Very helpful. When we last stayed at BCV (2006) for two-weeks we had Mousekeeping every day, but now I know why - and am prepared for a repeat trip in 2020 (but as a DVC member)....less Mousekeeping. Thank you!

It must be me. Your on vacation or are you DVC?

Am I the only one that feels, a clean room and beds made with fresh towels is to much to ask?

How messy is the room getting that you would require daily cleaning and daily fresh towels? If you're in a DVC room you get a washer and dryer or have use of the resort's guest laundry room for no charge. You can freshen your own towels. I know we are not personally in the room all that much. We get ready in the morning, maybe have a mid-day break and then are back in the evening for bed. Not much mess to be made, even if we decide to cook and we are not daily bed makers, so I don't care about that. I guess if you refuse to re-use towels a second time you would need it. On vacation I don't want to be bothered by hotel staff. I'll tidy up after myself just like I do at home and it will only take a few minutes because it's a much smaller space than my entire house. What I won't do is pay for the extra towels. That seems silly to me, especially if I have a washer/dryer in my room.

Edited to say that yes, you are on vacation but as a DVC member you "own" that room. You pay to own a tiny piece of Disney property and it becomes a second home. They tell DVC members "Welcome Home" when you arrive. It's charming. But it also means that you take ownership of your space. You clean up after yourself, you make your own bed, you wash your own dishes. You get once a week trash pickup just like at home because you ARE "home." It's more like renting a condo than a hotel room.

Actually, you get daily trash pickup as a way to snoop on all the guests to make sure they aren't trafficking children for sex or setting up a meth lab.

This was a consequence of the mass shooting in Vegas. No one ever went into that room and he amassed an arsenal in that room. It took Disney about 2 months to come up with this as a safety measure. If it means I will be safe, come right in.

Oh right. I forgot about the security checks. Not a fan of those but most of the time we aren't in the room when they come. It's definitely intrusive and alarmist but so far it hasn't affected our stays negatively.

"You're"

The room is cleaned before you check in. I don't meticulously dust my house every day at home.
I don't change my towels every day at home either. Not to mention changing towels daily is wasteful and selfish because of the water and power required to clean the towels each day. It is simply not necessary to have new towels each day.

The quality of my vacations aren't determined by how often someone comes to clean a room we are barely in. Even when we go vacation at hotels with full housekeeping, we usually leave the do not disturb sign up the entire time too.

It's security theater. None of us are any safer as a result of these checks than we were before them. The checks aren't thorough enough to uncover anything untoward happening in a room, especially now that everyone knows they happen and appropriate care can be taken to mask such activities.

Wow. Let's hope Disney never follows your lead. Consider what your paying for that room I don't think it's asking to much to make the beds and clean the tub. As far as towels use once and wash.

The Less time housekeeping is in my room the better. Even on cash stays (non dvc) I turn away mousekeeping. Towels are no issue, at home we reuse them a few times. Aslong as while hanging them up they dry over the night/day I don't see an issue.

I prefer not having daily cleaning we like the peace of housekeeping not being in the room every day. For clean towels we just throw them in the wash and beds are easy to make

Disagree. I feel a little safer. Daily visits are probably enough to discourage most shooters from choosing Disney resorts as their base. Nothing will deter all determined shooters, but IMO, most will look for easier targets.

I don't mind daily or every other day trash pick up, but even in other hotels they usually have a sign asking you to hang towels you want to re-use to save water!? You know, that whole save the environment thing?? We probably don't need 50,000 fresh trash bags either.
Do you seriously wash your sheets and towels at your own house every day? I'm honestly curious.

Just ignore disney11fan. He doesn't even own DVC and doesn't even like DVC.

Ha! Yeah I know. I don't own either actually! But I'm thinking about it and I've rented points a lot plus my BFF owns. I'm under no illusion of what DVC means! 😜

I'd be perfectly happy with DVC minimal services - but as a cash guest, is there any way to decline daily Mousekeeping like there is at some of the hotels ?

You can call Housekeeping and decline it all you like. But you won't get any gift card for doing that.

But they will still come every day to pick up the trash in order to make sure you aren't doing anything nefarious in your villa.
