On our 5th day at BWV this week, we still had not received towels. About 4pm I left the room, spotted a housekeeper and asked her if we could get towels and shampoo. Later that evening, we came back to find the following left on the dinette chair.

There were 21 bottles of shampoo, conditioner and body wash in the bag.

And they never took away the used towels.

They also took the recycling and regular trash out later but dumped both cans in the same large container. So much for recycling!

Does Disney or Reedy Creek or Orange county have a trash/recycling sorting facility? There are places that do that vs having the public sort but I'd guess that Disney and other hotels would still do recycling bins because guests from other places would believe they weren't recycling if they didn't. I have no idea what they actually do down there but just a thought.

Near the end of the vacation, we saw there was a trash room down the hall with large recycle bins. Orange County does recycle:
  • Five staffed Waste and Recycling Centers are available for all Orange County residents to dispose of household garbage, bulky items such as upholstered furniture, and a full range of recyclable materials.
But then again, WDW, have no idea how they coordinate with Orange county.

Sounds to me like they do have the system I am thinking of then.

My first guess is that housekeeping is probably understaffed and providing a generous response to a supply request reducing the need for further requests.
I think they just dumped it, and ignored the old towels. Total time… 15 seconds.

sorting out just a couple bottles and towels would have taken an extra minute.

The world we live in.

I had the exact same experience staying at the Boardwalk back in July. Maybe we had the same housekeeper.

OMG, that shampoo. I saw a Disney social media person posting about using that stuff in their bath at home to feel like they were at the parks, and I had a visceral disgust reaction. What on earth would you do with 21 bottles of it? I swear it smells, uh, herbal to me, in the worst possible way.

You can throw the used towels in the hall. I've done it with trash too. It gets taken then.

I ran across an interesting thing in the POS when looking for something else that states that we've agreed to dispose of trash appropriately and not leave it or other items out in view of others. ala the hallways I think that's why there are the trash rooms to take it to. It probably means housekeeping should be called to take towels but I know that's hit or miss. I know someone started doing all this a long time ago and more and more have then thought it was acceptable but just an fyi that it's not what we are supposed to do.

There's usually a trashcan near the elevators. I've put stuff there. In my October trip, they never emptied my trash. Fine with me, but that's the obvious result.

I've seen stuff like room service and dirty towels in hallways of hotels with much higher levels of service than DVC. The message is pretty clear, and it does get handled.

Christmas presents for DWs family haha. They would never vacation in Disney. Think its a waste of money. They go to a run down cabin in the woods.

What do yo think the hallways would look like if everyone put their towels and trash in the hallway?
