What do yo think the hallways would look like if everyone put their towels and trash in the hallway?

I'm surprised you've never seen it? They clean it up. It's not uncommon at DVC and much nicer hotels. It seems like a pretty obvious consequence of no housekeeping mid-stay.

There's usually a trashcan near the elevators. I've put stuff there. In my October trip, they never emptied my trash. Fine with me, but that's the obvious result.

I've seen stuff like room service and dirty towels in hallways of hotels with much higher levels of service than DVC. The message is pretty clear, and it does get handled.

That message is only that people are doing it but not that it is the way it should be done. I've actually never seen it at any high end hotels or even low end motels. Disney takes the cake for guests doing it from my experience. I was sharing that we are not supposed to do it - it's even covered in the POS. Each DVC has actual trash rooms that you are supposed to dispose of the trash.

You can throw the used towels in the hall. I've done it with trash too. It gets taken then.

I agree. DVC has always been sold as a vacation home experience. Dumping your own trash into the designated bins is expected. Leaving it in the hallway is gross and rude to your neighbors.
