This poll will deal with your DVC accommodations and what you expect from housekeeping.

I have to admit that when staying at a resort that does daily housekeeping, there are days I just wish they would go away and leave us alone. We will often just tip the maid and ask for replacement towels or just wash cloths if we happen to be in the room. Sometimes I think it would be nice if the hotels had a door knob hanger that says when you want housekeeping.

So I think the DVC way of housekeeping fits us perfectly. Just wish we could get extra wash cloths without buying the extra towels. We've gotten so we add some to the suitcase. Hey maybe I should get some monogrammed ones with Mickey on them for our next trip.

LOL! Not a bad idea for the owner's locker! I don't usually run out of washcloths though.

As long as housekeeping does a good/decent cleaning when they are in there, I like the schedule just fine now. A day before or after for trash/towel or full cleaning can always be arranged if possible depending on length of stay.

I am pretty much on top of it anyway and clean as I go.

Though everyone has their own particular comfort zone when it comes to tidiness, it doesn't hurt to remember that cleaning at home is usually done by unpaid "volunteers" or underaged "conscripts". Cleaning at DVC is done by professionals who are paid (by us) to do a job. The exchange of money automatically creates a certain level of expectation.

They leave me a sponge, paper towels, dish detergent and dishwasher detergent. That's all I need to keep the kitchen clean myself. And there is a vacuum in the closet, so if I need to vacuum up something on the floor, I can do it myself.

What would be nice would be fitted bottom sheets instead of flat sheets (I know, flat sheets are easier to launder). Then I wouldn't need them to change the sheets out every so often. I'd be fine with fitted bottom sheets and a mattress pad that fit the mattress. Spend some money on those and it resolves a lot of other problems.

I do the same as you with cleaning at our DVC villas.

As for the fitted sheets, I do understand why hotels don't use them. The elastic would never stand up to the hot water and harsh detergents they are required to use on hotel bedding.

Yeares ago, friends & I took a tour of the laundry. They use the flat sheets because they dry them when they iron them. They can't run fitted sheets through the ironing machine.

Saying that, I would love fitted sheets too.

I wouldn't mind the flat sheets so much if the housekeepers would just all learn how to mitre the corners so they didn't come untucked so easily. I get frustrated when the housekeepers just tuck everything...bottom, top and blankets all in together. There is no way you can turn down the bed without pulling everything (including the bottom sheet) out.

As long as everything is cleaned before I check-in, I'm fine with that. I don't need anything done while I'm there.

I agree, as long as when I walk in the villas for the first time it is cleaned throughout, I don't need anything from housekeeping.

We don't even ask for trash and towel. We wash the towels as needed and carry out the trash daily.

I just want it clean on the day I check in.

Agreed! That probably should have been one of the poll options. As others have stated, we're more than happy to clean up after ourselves during our stay.

I like clean towels but I wash them myself. I do not need mousekeeping to deliver towels each day.

I would like to see the room clean upon my family's arrival. After that, we maintain the room and probably leave it cleaner than when we arrived.

Ditto!

I expect the villa to be cleaned between guests. I have no real need for anything while I am there. But I don't stay more then one week at any one villa. If I stayed for a month then weekly cleaning would be appreciated.

I apologize if this seems nit-picky, I would love to have seen an option that indicates I would clean the kitchen/vacuum daily/weekly. Personally, I don't care if mousekeeping cleans the kitchen nor vacuum on my stay, since I tend to do that daily/as needed myself.

Great polls, I'm looking forward to seeing the final summary, Diane!

I agree with many others here. I would rather them not come in as long as it is clean when i arrive since DH and I perfer our privacy and not having to worry about when they might knock.

I also in regular hotels tipped the maid and put the do not disturb sign up for the stay and if anything when we she him/her ask for toilet paper or something like that when need.

I defiantly don't need clean towels everyday....i don't even do that at home.

I borderline severe OCD:lmao:laughing at myself but really serious...so as long as it's clean I will keep it clean...

When staying in other hotels now with the family I usually hang the Do Not Disturb sign on the door so housekeeping won't come in. I'd prefer others aren't having to move around our stuff so they can clean, when it's not really needed.
In the Villas, I do wish they'd give us more supplies so we can keep the villas clean. More laundry detergent, dish soap. The biggest disconnect was dishwasher soap, we only received one little sample size for a weeks stay.

Yes, I tend to keep cleaning inbetween too, and I prefer to do my OWN brand of cleaning as well.

I know I didn't have enough choices, but we are limited here to 12, so it was a bit difficult deciding what to pick for choices.
