My DD4 is on a heart monitor that will automatically trigger when it goes below and above the set limits or when she presses a button. The monitor will only hold 3 auto triggers plus 1 self trigger recording. I have to call the cardio medical company to get them sent to them over the phone and it can only be done on a house/land line phone. Her monitor goes off 20+ times per day. We go to the parks ALL DAY until late EMHs are over.

My questions:

1. who do I let know about this? The cardio company suggested our hotels conceriege/management so I am able to know where there is a phone we can use?
2. Is it going to be possible to use a land line phone throughout the park. Ide hate to have to go to Guest Services. (But of course, I will if that is the only option)

Would a pay phone work as a landline? If your cardio company has an 800 number that you could call you wouldn't even have to pay to send in the recordings every time you needed to transmit the information. If a pay phone won't work my guess is you would be limited to First Aid and Guest Relations since (correct me if I am wrong) the phones at the attractions and shops are all for within Disney property.

I didnt think about payphones, yes that should work too as it is an 800 number. I was wondering if the restaurants would have a phone we could use also? I dont know if they only call within property or not. Ill probably talk to someone at the hotel and then guest services at MK the first day and see how it goes. I just like to be prepared and know what to expect. Thanks!

Most telephones on the internal system are valid only with the park or WDW. Some can dial local numbers off property, but very few will allow any 1+ dialing. This is especially true for phones which might be accessed by Guests. Normally the only phones with access to long distance are managers or people who need them for a specific job.

Thanks for the info, but it is not long distance, it is an 800 number, does anyone thing calling a toll free 800 number will be possible anywhere besides guest services?

Only time for a short answer.
Places I have worked (hospitals) usually treat an 800 number as a long distance number. The phones that are not authorized to dial long distance don't allow any calls that start with the number 1.

OK, still up.
I wrote a long answer last night, but my browser crashed and I lost it.

If I understand correctly, it sounds like your daughter's heart monitor has a loop recorder that only holds a possibility of 4 readings - 3 auto trigger plus one self trigger - and if another trigger comes in before you send those, it records over/erases the older reading to make room for a new one.

Also, if I understand, with 20+ triggers a day, you are needing to make between 5 and 7 calls per day to upload information. (5 would be if each time it triggers automatically 3 times, she triggers it once. 7 would be if she never triggers and it only does the 3 auto triggers).

I don't understand if the reason for calling is just to send the information to the monitor company or if something is done right away based on the triggers that you are uploading info about.

If it's just information, I would call the monitor company and find out if you can get a different monitor with a longer loop time so you don't have to call in so often.
I know some monitors have accessories that allow them to send information to a cell phone - don't know if the one he is using does, but that old be much better than running all over trying to find a phone you can use.

Also, check with the monitor company to find out if their system will even allow calls from pay phones. Some phone systems don't because of the high likelihood of crank/spam calls from pay phones.
Another thing to think about with pay phones is the noise level around them. Most of the pay phones I can think of seeing at WDW were around the restrooms, which tend to be busy and pretty noisy (along with the area theme music, etc.). So, if you need quiet to transmit the readings, your best bet will probably be First Aid.

Thank you Sue for the info and suggestions. You are correct about her monitor being a looping monitor. Once she reaches 3 automatic triggers, it will not record anymore auto triggers and she has 1 self trigger she could record. Once it is full, it stops recording.

We have to call to transmit the info to them and also if something is urgent, they will call her cardiologist who would call us back and have her to to the local hospital.

She rarely self triggers since she is 4 and she is use to her heart feeling funny. Once in awhile she will tell us if it is pounding or going too slow. But that is rare for her to tell us, or she wont tell us soon enough to be able to self trigger.

I did think of the background noise, that is why I was hoping restaurants would be able to call out. I will check on all of this as soon as I arrive at WDW. Usually I do have to call in the data 5-7 times per day, some days more and some a little less.

Thank you again for everyones help. I will report back on this so if anyone else needs the info, it is here.
