Hotels near Vancouver cruise terminal

My DW and I will be cruising Alaska for the first time. We are coming in a day early and need a hotel room near the cruise terminal. Ideally we would love to stay at Pan Pacific but it is almost $350.00 for the night. Any suggestions for a similar hotel near the cruise terminal that is not so pricey. We just want a nice clean room to sleep in the night before the cruise. We would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks.

Our group of 15 stayed at the Best western in Vancouver the night before. They had a cruise special that included transportation from the airport, to the ship, and breakfast the morning of departure. It was clean, staff was friendly, and it was very affordable. Have a super trip!

We are staying there the night before our cruise June 16th!

Delta Suites Vancouver. A little further away, maybe two to three blocks from terminal. We got a good rate there in 2011, although we did not end up staying there. It looked really nice. Pretty new, modern style 4-5 star hotel. They even had an adults only floor. Right across the street from the building with the observation tower/Revolving restaurant on the roof. This was the best for the least that I could find after about 6-9 months of research.

We ended up staying at the Fairmont Vancouver. This was a historic 5 star property. Not really within walking distance to the terminal, but was a very short cab ride. We were able to book a suite there with AMX reward points, so it ended up costing us nothing.

We stayed at the Pan Pacific using Hotwire. It was great and at least one half the price you have here. We stayed 2 nights. Loved It

Check out the thread with your cruise meets, I'm sure someone is talking about staying there via Hotwire. They will have the criteria for booking it.

With Hotwire do you have to pay upfront and do you get the nights you want?

The Fairmont Waterfront is right across from the Pan Pacific and the cruise terminal. They were wonderful and transferred our bags to the terminal for us. They also had breakfast included. We stayed, as another poster who stayed at the Fairmont Vancouver, with amex, but watch their website. They had some amazing deals, especially when booked a few months in advance. Have fun!

Last year we used hotwire to book our hotels before our Alaska cruise. You can pretty much figure out what hotel you will get with a little research. We stayed at the Coast Coal Harbour Hotel, about 2-3 blocks from the port. We did take a taxi to the port with our luggage since we had 4 adults and 2 kids. The hotel was very nice. We paid about $130 a night.

TONS of hotel options downtown, and most are very nice quality (3*+).

Due to the fact that the Cruise terminal is at the terminus station of Skytrain (a rapid transit system here in Vancouver), if you want to save $$ you can stay further out at various places along the Expo or Canada lines and get to the terminal quickly and easily. The Millenium line also works, but you have to switch trains once.

For the most part you won't find anything in the Vancouver area under $130/night, and Hotwire/Priceline are great resources for a downtown Vancouver hotel.

Really there aren't many where you can go wrong.

I was asking these same questions just a while back

I originally had Delta Vancouver Suites booked for 2 nights pre-cruise for about $459 total, I think. The location is a few blocks from port but the rooms look really nice and it received good reviews.

But last month someone in our cruise meet was able to get the Pan Pacific on Hotwire so after comparing the amenities list and checking betterbidding.com, quite a few of us were able to get the Pan Pacific.

Mine was for 2 nights pre-cruise for $176 a night (when online the cheapest rooms were showing close to $400 a night)

If you really want the Pan, Hotwire is the way to go! It just takes some research and time, but it is doable.

Wanted to throw this out there for military families: Many hotels offer discounts for U.S. Military as well as Canadian. For example, the Pan Pacific and Marriott Pinnacle have a military rate of $169.00 before our cruise in August.

We decided to stay at the Hampton Inn (free breakfast and shuttle to Canada Place) using Hilton points, but they had a military rate also.

I booked on Hotwire. The Pan Pacific or rather any 5 star hotel in the 'downtown' area was coming upto 270+ tax. I did not feel good about spending that much for 1 night,so i first looked up all the available 4 star hotels in that area on google. Once i felt like i couldn't go too wrong with whichever one hotwire picked for me, i took the plunge and opted for a 4 star hotel in the "vancouver downtown-Coal harbour-stanley park" area. I got the Hyatt Regency Vancouver which is about 0.3 miles from the cruise terminal/Canada place and has very good reviews on trip advisor. Best part i got it for $155/night tax inclusive. I also downloaded their App and got $25 (App25) off my total booking. The cheapest for the date i was looking at for this specific hotel on any website (expedia, hotels.com etc) was $235 that too non-refundable. So i am really happy If you pick a 4 star or a 5 star in that area you can't go too wrong no matter which hotel they pick for you. They all seem to have pretty good ratings.

It is a 2 block walk to the Canada line skytrain station (Bridgeport) which can take you into Vancouver and other areas.

We got the Hyatt Regency off Hotwire for $144 - we're going in June 2014. It appears to be a 6 block walk or a very short cab ride. Definitely take a look at Hotwire and BetterBidding.com --- if it's just 2 of you and not a family, then try Priceline. I didn't do Priceline because I wanted a guarantee on 2 beds for each room.

As long as you're looking inside downtown Vancouver, there are SO MANY good hotels. And IMO nearly anything in downtown is walkable, just maybe not with tons of luggage. Send one person off in a cab with the bags, and have the adventurous ones take a nice walk.

Sutton Place (and it's condo sister, La Grande Residence) is amazing, and you *can* find some great rates depending on when you're going and where you look. We book exclusively through hotels.com and twice have found AMAZING deals there.
