Hotels near Vancouver cruise terminal

Thank you!

Oh if we stay there I'm going to love eating around there. I'm an Asian cuisine junkie and really miss those types of foods on the cruises. I go through withdrawals, lol.

The can ride to port about $30-40 from the airport area, right?

Again, thank you so much!!!

Yeah. No worries. There is a great Korean BBQ place on the back side of the mall there too. Service is a bit slow, but the price is decent and the food is great. (Korean, Vietnamese, Chinese, Japanese, all no problem in Richmond)

And about the cab, around the $40 mark, yes.

One word of warning - for the most part it is proper asian cuisine, so sometimes there are odd ingredients that you may not be used to seeing (tripe, pork belly, octopus, etc). If you love authentic, you'll have a blast.

JAMWDW:

There is a great restaurant in Mount Vernon (about 1.5hrs North of Tacoma) called the Callico Cupboard. They have their own bakery in store. I highly recommend it. http://www.calicocupboardcafe.com/mount-vernon/

Rough timeline (of major towns along the way: Tacoma->Seattle (30min)->Mount Vernon (1h)->Bellingham(30m)->Vancouver (1h)

Note: The highway through Seattle is a 60 zone, then it goes up to 70 until Mount Vernon (60 zone) back up to 70, down to 60 through Bellingham and back up to 70.

(I drive to Seattle a lot. Did the California run a number of years ago)

Yep that estimate is perfect! Ours was $35 with tip and we took a taxi from the Airport to Pan Pacific and the same on the day we disembarked which was obviously Canada Place to the airport. There were three of us and 4 suitcases and like you, we just wanted to go with convenience and it was hassle free and easy. I wouldn't hesitate to take a taxi the next time either.

Awesome informative thread! On the subject of hotels, does anyone have any thoughts/reviews/feedback on the Vancouver Marriott Pinnacle Downtown Hotel?

I haven't stayed there or directly had dealings, but it is on a street with 3 other hotels, in the core of downtown, so they keep it on its toes. Very nice interior. If you can get a good rate I'd go for it.

Easy walking to the downtown core, cruise terminal, transit, and lots of restaurants. During summer it also is a great starting point to walk to and around stanley park (If you are willing to do a 3-4 mile walk around the park)

We got the Hyatt Regency off Hotwire for $144 - we're going in June 2014. It appears to be a 6 block walk or a very short cab ride. Definitely take a look at Hotwire and BetterBidding.com --- if it's just 2 of you and not a family, then try Priceline. I didn't do Priceline because I wanted a guarantee on 2 beds for each room.

Love the Hyatt! We stayed there for a week during the 2010 Winter Olympics. The hotel is lovely and it's in a fantastic location - walking distance to restaurants, great shopping, etc...

SG101 - That's an awesome price!!! Enjoy your stay! :thumbsup2

How to get Pan Pacific on Hotwire. Yes you pay at the time you book and you do get the nights you want.

I just took a chance using Hotwire, hoping to get the Pan Pacific for a pre-cruise night in July 2014 paying less than the $274CAD on their site. Currently, there is only one 5 star hotel listed on Hotwire in the downtown/coal harbour area for $185, and it's the Four Seasons Vancouver. I'll take it, though I'm a little sad I won't see the Wonder come into port.

So do you have to keep that? Let's say you do it and don't get the hotel you want. Can't you just cancel?

When I was studying it like crazy, those were the two 5-star Hotels that would show up (Pan and Four Seasons). The difference that I found was that they would show "Indoor Pool" when it was the Four Seasons. Otherwise the amenity set if very similar.

Nope, you cannot cancel. That is part of the risk in return for a great price. You have to take what you get.

We stayed at the Pan Pacific last July before our cruise. Embarkation morning, I awakened my 11 yr old daughter and told her to come to the window. The look on her face and her squeals of joy as the Wonder pulled in RIGHT BELOW our window truly were the highlight of the trip for me. If you can get a room there, DO IT!

BTW, this was a girls trip and we felt very safe walking all over. There were a few panhandlers in the Gastown area at night (we ate at a gastro pub....I think it was called Steamworks. It was wonderful).

We opted to take the Skytrain from the airport to Canada Place for the sheer experience as we have nothing like it in the so cal desert. Even with lots of luggage, it was relatively easy. The locals were friendly and helpful. It really was lots of fun and was a great way to start the trip ,

Jealous, and wish I was going on another Wonder cruise to Alaska!

How long did it take you to get from the airport after getting your baggage to the Pan Pacific? Do you get off right in front of the Pan Pacific?

Thank you for that information. It is exactly what I need to know while I keep tabs on this for our trip this summer.

Great questions! I haven't explored that aspect of our trip, so I will watch for the answers.

Thank you! Sounds nice, it's actually business related, but nice to know it's a great location!

Hi Stinkerbe11. You'll enjoy it there. Nice hotel. Since it is right next to the stadium, it attracts a good clientel. You are right on the edge of a neighbourhood known as Yaletown. It is very trendy and filled with Restaurants and clubs. Additionally, there is a skytrain station about 2 blocks away (Expo line) beside the statiums, and another (Canada line) about 3 blocks away in Yaletown.

MND: The Sheraton Wall Center is an iconic hotel. It is the highest point in downtown (it was built on a hill). It is very nice both inside and out. Only downside is it is a little farther from rapid transportation. Nice area too. There is good bus service though.

If any of you are on the Aug 25th Alaska cruise I'll see you on board as well.

We're on the Aug. 25th Alaska cruise. Thanks so much for the maps and info. We're staying at the Pan Pacific and can't wait. They had a special around New Year's Day for 204CAD so I booked directly through the hotel. I didn't want to chance not getting it through HW since that is where we really want to stay.

Do you remember how much the Skytrain was? It's only the three of us (2 adults and one 11 year old) so that might be doable. I'm thinking if it's easy and cheaper than a taxi, that might be the way to go.

Thanks so much for all this info.

ETA - from what I can tell, it will cost of 7.75CAD/adults and 6.75CAD/child to go from Vancouver Airport to Canada Place, which includes the 5.00CAD fee. It should be cheaper to go from Canada Place to the airport, because the 5.00CAD fee does not apply. Am I right or confused?

Thanks!

I'm very interested in this also. I was thinking of using the Skytrain but I will have my mother with us. It is no problem for her to walk a few blocks (she is in great shape), I am just worried about her doing it with luggage. But I will have both my kids too so we should be able to help out with hers too.

I love the story about your DD waking up to see the Wonder pull in. Around what time does it arrive? I'm sure we would love to be up and see it also :thumbsup2

We have a reservation and I'm thinking I'll keep it now. This will be cool.

The wife and I have stayed at the "Manor Guest House" a few times. It's a B&B about 10-15 minute cab ride from the terminal. We loved it.

:yay: Just booked the three days before our cruise (HAL) in July on Hotwire. Got the Pan Pacific for $175 CND (plus taxes, of course). I'm very pleased! Still have to price the day that we disembark, but I'll do that after I've paid this one off! Thanks so much jetskigirl! :hyper:

Debbie, I'm keeping an eye out for the Pan Pacific for our August 25th cruise.

I'm seeing this 5 star on hotwire at the moment... does this match what you saw when you booked the Pan-Pacific?

Vancouver Downtown, Coal Harbor, Stanley Park area. Pet friendly, fitness center, pool(s), restaurant(s), business center, self service laundry, internet access, spa services.

Trip advisor 4.5/5, Hotwire reviews 85% positive with 318 total reviews.

(It's showing $166US per night for the 23rd and 24th).
