Hotels in walking distance of Orange County Convention Center?

I'm going to a conference next spring at Orlando's Orange County Convention Center. Are there any hotels within walking distance of the OCCC other than the Rosen Centre and the Peabody? The trip has to come out of my office operating budget, so I'd like to know if I can save some money on the trip.

Thanks!

Anyone? I see there are some others in what appear to be walking distance -- a Clarion, for example. Anyone have any recommendations?

I'm pretty sure most of the convention center hotels will have shuttles.

I'm not sure if there are paths/sidewalks that would make walking from any hotel possible.

The I-Drive OCCC area is highly walkable and pedestrian friendly. If not, there is a trolley, shuttles, buses, and cabs.

Any hotel you pick in the area should be fine, but as always, you get what you pay for. If the convention is large enough, hotel pricing will reflect it.

Spring will be lukewarm, so consider if you will be dressed up and walking in warm weather.

The hotel down the road may be $80 vs $150 in the OCCC complex, but if your promptness, comfort, and safety are factored in, the $70 difference is a small price to pay... and it won't make much of a difference in your budget.

The Westin is on the other side of the complex on Universal Blvd. I love Westins, but you'll need to cross a rather large parking lot somehow to get to the OCCC... and you will pay.

There's a red roof, a hojo, a days and a few other budget hotels on Hawaiian Court across from the OCCC on IDrive, but I can't vouch for their quality. Rosen owned brands are fairly good around this area.

Try not to have too much fun, it is easy to miss your meetings around there.

Well, I'm going to Photoshop World, which for me is pretty darn fun in itself.

After reading another thread on the subject, I checked Travelocity's "Top Secret Hotels." They gave me a rate of $46 per night at a "4-star hotel" in the "Orlando/Orange County Convention Center" area. There's a chance that would even be the Rosen Centre, but even if it isn't, it should still be within walking distance (or a very short drive). By contrast, the official special rate for attendees of Photoshop World is $145 per night. I can do better than that. Since I live in Florida, I'll be driving down to Orlando; a short drive to the convention center (the worst case scenario if we get a hotel in the area) won't be a problem.

And the cost of this conference will amount to between 10 to 15 percent of my office budget as it is, so saving money where I can is definitely worth the effort. I may be able to afford some new equipment or software if I'm frugal enough. This is going to be my first year running the office myself, and it is my goal to run the place on less money than my former co-worker and supervisor.

There's a new Hilton by adjacent to the newest section of the convention center. Stayed there for an event last year. It's a beautiful hotel. Our room rate was $99, but part of a deal with the event. Don't know details about regular rates.

Hi, we just stayed (August) at the Quality Inn Plaza at 9000 International Drive. While you can walk to the convention center, the I-Trolley can get you there in under 5 minutes and there is a stop right in front of the hotel. We got the rooms for $49/night. It's no 4 star hotel but was reasonably comfortable and within walking distance of a few restaurants, bars and even a Walgreens (if you need it)

I would second the Quality Inn @ 9000, it only a very short walk to the convention centre, the rooms are decent, clean & cheap (personally I prefer the ground floor rooms) also try asking for the recently refurbished rooms (they may have done they all by now though).

I have stayed here at least 5 times because of the price and location. Food wise, Bahama Breeze is just across the road, so is Pointe Orlando. There is also a Houlihans a Ponderosa next door. I think its the best location on i-drive especially for tose who drive, because you can walk to load of places in the night to have a meal and drinks without spending loads on accomodation.

To the OP - were you ever able to find a hotel? I, too, am hoping to go to Photoshop World and have read not so nice things about the Rosen, will stay there if I have to, but would love to stay at the Peabody :cool2: Why couldn't they hold it at Disney World? LOL!! Haven't been to the conference in a few years and am very excited about going :cool1:
