Hotel walls are boring, aka "the one where we got sick"

Thanks for the info! I think it may be something to look at... we plan probably 2 trips a year. So it would be nice to have some things stay in FL. Sounds like we would just need to pay the extra delivery fee and go with the main plan.

Sounds like a good idea. Yes, it's the way we're doing it, too. And it's amazing how many hotels they drop off and pick up at. If we'd known we would be taking a bump on the way home I soooo would have taken it on the cruise with us and had them pick it up after. Wow would it have been useful!

OMG! I so here ya!!! I am looking forward to the October trip because I know I won't be freezing.

Summer trips man, summer trips. Puddle of sweat, not block of ice!

I am quite jealous that the holiday decorations were still up on 1/6. We arrived just two days later...:sad2:

Well, it's not like we really got to enjoy them. I mean, those pictures are pretty much THE moments we noticed them.

At least MK has a nice first aid center. I think all of the parks do. I have had to use them a couple times.

Yep, all the parks do. The centers are great. At Disneyland, too. Their ice packs are magic. I mean, look at how much they helped Eamon that night! If he would have consented to eat ANYTHING at MK's food venues we could have found Nancy again; then again, it's probably for the best as I figure at that point I must have unknowingly been my most contagious. For the best I had to quarantine myself from them and especially cutie-pie Mr Nathan. (Nancy don't tell him I called him that, I'm sure he's far too old to want to be a cutie-pie, but even in his discomfort he was adorable)

rundisney is killing me.

Labor Day, Disneyland Half. Already signed up. This gets me the coasttocoast medal.

For other reasons, heading to Florida in late-ish October.
We all go home and then I fly back out for a solo or girl's trip for the Wine&Dine Nov 9. (planned, not signed up yet)

Now there's a new DLR race. Avengers themed. Eamon is kicking himself that he said "no" to signing him up for the 5K at Disneyland. Unless I'm reading the rules wrong, doing this and the Wine&Dine would get me a SECOND coasttocoast medal.

Problem? It's the weekend after Wine&Dine.

:crazy2:

They are trying to kill me. I know they are.

(and if I got in on the inaugural year....I'd be a "legacy" for something for the first time in my life!)

I'm SOOO with you on the RunDisney thing. Honestly, I'm seriously starting to plan my life around it. My daughter and granddaughter are trying to plan our first trip trip next year around it without impacting our park time. The problem is her DH's birthday is Feb. 25 and my grandson's is the 26th, and we don't want to miss them. Nor do we want to go over President's Day.

But this is after we go this April, John and I go in May, Molly and I go again in August with my sister and niece and John and I go again in December with our other son and DIL, who just graduated from nursing school-- oh, and we're all going to her graduation in May in Virginia too -- and Molly and I will spend a few days in Ocean City in June and possibly August-- and I'm going to my mom's in Michigan at the end of March for her 85th birthday, and my sister and I are going to take her to Chicago for a few days.

See, this is why John says I can't do more RunDisney trips this year

I loved Pop, BTW. It was perfect for me. So glad I didn't give in and shell out another $500 for a hotel room in a mod or even more for a deluxe. I had such a great time, I can't believe I actually did it!

Really enjoying your report, as always.

Aha. Registration page for DVC enter to the W&D: "Limit 1 medal per runner per calendar year."

So it seems the princess thing this year is the exception.

I'm so glad you liked Pop. If I can't secure a studio at BW for the W&D (using some of 2015 points to do so), if Pop is one of the host resorts, I'll likely stay there. It's just so cute.

I'm all done for the W&D now. Cool.

Did I tell you guys that I have this Half coming up on the 15th, and while they let everyone finish, they time it to a 13 minute mile and the police send everyone to the sidewalks if you go slower than that. I'm scared! That was on a page that wasn't complete when I signed up for it; the other page just talks about how everyone can finish blah blah. 13 minute mile. And I haven't properly run since Jan 11. Help.

Tonight I'm striving to continue writing. I'm feeling more and more positive, or at least learning-lesson-ish, about all of the events, so that's good.

I know!!! RD is trying to kill me too. AND it is making me choose them over another race I really wanted to do. However... legacy... legacy would be super cool :cool1:

Yeah :sad2: I was gonna tell you that one per calendar year.

Good luck on the half!!! That is exciting!! I am sure you will do just fine. Who knows, maybe the break from running will have given you enough time to heal and your body will be like "go go go"

Can you be legacy for a 5K? Eamon would soooo love to do this 5K.

And by the way, they are silly. If they can do some special pink medal for doing specific races, and if THAT can go along with the other C2C, they can allow other C2C medals. Silly. No good reason.

I am not sure. I have not read about that ever. In fact, it isn't something widely talked about in general because I think there are few "legacy" runners. I can't remember the number for the phm last year. I want to say it was a small number... Ok... looking it up it was 324. I think that number gets smaller the longer the race has been going on. Miss one and you are no longer a legacy. I think it is hard to make a race EVERY year.

I agree, it seems silly... but I didn't know that you could get 2 C2C for doing essentially 4 halfs this year if two of them were the Tink and phm. Honestly, I think if you can do 4... or 6 you should get a c2c for every two.

Thanks for responding, Ann. Oof I was grumpy figuring that out and hearing it from you. Glad to know, of course. : ) I wanted an absolute "you must do this" reason to do it. :)

I don't really understand the travel agents, etc that sell bibs even after the races are "sold out". Do you think I could contact any of them to get bibs for just the 5K at the Disneyland Half? I don't want them to laugh at me. :upsidedow

Late late nights this week, late nights at the Y, getting back into working out, dealing with E's friend that I actively dislike and have disliked for as long as they've known each other, and realizing how much info on E's dance stuff I missed while sick and gone...I'm wiped out!

And I think I have to run back up to Seattle tomorrow because I got a refill of E's probiotics (which he has a ton of) instead of mine (I'm out) the other day by mistake. I really really do want to boost my silly immune system, so that's going to be necessary. Wishing I had a car that got better gas mileage...

So you in for avengers then? Stinks that you can't get a second c2c... but the race should be fun at least.

I don't either. I am always reading about how this one or that one still has bibs.. Do they purchase a bunch? I think that is unfair. What if I don't want to go through a TA and now the TA's have taken up a chunk of the allowed bibs... Still, I do think it is worth a shot for the 5k bib.

I hear ya on the car that gets better gas mileage! I drive a beast!

I'm not sure about Avengers. I think even my sweet and kind and "do what makes you happy" DH is even wondering about my sanity. I mean, that's a lot of flights in just a few months.

I still have this report on my mind, just can't settle my mind enough. Scattered. But I did want to edit myself...we did make ONE of our reservations. I remembered yesterday. We did have breakfast at Kouzzina. :)

Just a few pix. Animal Kingdom. Weird short day after swimming. The day did nothing but get colder and colder. High 79 (which lasted for maybe an hour), low 44, remember. Shiver.

DSCF1681_zps2aa784ef.jpg

The bunny was wild, and was in the Flamingo enclosure. Which had far more ibises in it than flamingos.

And then when you looked further back...

DSCF1684_zps615130b4.jpg

Kangaroos and a wild turkey vulture. He's the black shadow shape closer to the camera than the kangaroos, sitting on that long horizontal piece of wood.

The bunny was between them and the flamingo/ibis water. We just couldn't figure out how the bunny felt so safe, but the CM told us that turkey vultures ONLY eat already-dead things.

Ibises.

DSCF1685_zpsbdaa1ecf.jpg

Later on, a whole flock of ibises went overhead as we crossed the bridge, and settled in the trees.

They look especially weird as the sun sets even lower. Just blobs of white in the gloom.

The crocodile (not alligator) they have at AK. We actually saw him move this time. You have to pretend you're not watching him, kind of look out of the corner of your eye, and sometimes he'll do something.

DSCF1668_zps3abdf956.jpg

I have a couple more pictures to show the gloomy day. Once we got warm after E's swim and my sitting there trying to find people who could help me, it was drive there, park 100 miles away, and take the tram which was empty and it was cold cold cold.

685E5292-93F8-495A-8A83-04F293BEE737_zpsvzdyuoi6.jpg

We tried to do some Wilderness Explorer things but each one was taking so long because we were moving slow, even my brain. We did the one in the Dig area, we rode Primeval Whirl, we took the pictures above and did another one or two WE booklet things. We went to our FP for the Safari.

We were on the Safari with some brilliant people who felt it was important to stand up while taking pictures. The driver would stop somewhere cool, say "there's no one behind us so we can stop for a minute, but you have to stay seated." She'd wait, then start saying "you have to sit down, you can't stand up, I'm going to have to drive again, OK I'm starting to drive." Over and over. At one point, maybe over the alligators or something similarly impressive, as she started to drive again she must have said "you're ruining it for everyone" ten times in a row. Those of us NOT standing up were pretty disappointed, and the CM was bummed for us. It was crazy.

Here in this pictures, there are two cheetahs. One is standing. That's amazing enough; I was starting to think they were plush toys, because they didn't move.

DSCF1717_zps9ffa0a57.jpg

The other cheetah is running. Yep, running cheetah. Not visible. My camera missed him. But almost no one was paying attention to the plush cheetah toys becoming animatronic, due to the situation just feet away from the vehicle. On both sides.

DSCF1728_zps92cda371.jpg

(they wouldn't move. they were so huge. they could have squashed us. The CM seemed nervous. it was scary. and cold. because they wouldn't move, we couldn't move. eek.)

I don't remember lasting much longer. Neither of us could imagine being on EE when it was that chilly and breezy. We weren't hungry which was a bummer because I still haven't tried out that vegetarian kiosk. I figured that I'd have Tusker House for dinner the day before the Half so no biggie.

These pictures were taken on the way in but I don't think it matters. This is what the day looked and felt like.

Cold tram, back to the cold car. Went to Sweet Tomatoes where we had to convince ourselves to eat. Dark when we left. Stupid winter.

Back to:

Had to pack things up, get things ready. Watched more Stacey. Stacey always has fun and always has the perfect weather. Sigh. Wish we lived in Stacey's world. Went to shivery, icky-feeling, sleep.

****************
Have nearly convinced myself that I do NOT need to do the Avengers thing. If I can't get YAM (Yet Another Medal) for doing two bicoastal sets of Halfs in one year, then why bother? ;) And the *legacy* thing just means I have to keep on going. This is my trying-things-out time. I'm sure there will be future new races.

But I'm only *nearly* convinced.

When I get into something, it's almost like I lose my mind. (My DH would leave out the almost.) You sound a lot like me. If I didn't have three other trips planned for this year, I would be doing the ToT 10 miler. Just because it sounds like fun.

Planning on doing the GSC next year and Jessica wants desperately to run also. So she and Molly are probably coming down at the same time. Molly is very sad that she'll be the only one without a race T shirt, but not sad enough to actually run and get one.

My friend signed up for the W&D! I'll have a traveling and running companion! I'm so excited! Can't stop using exclamation points!

I'm not sure about Avengers. I think even my sweet and kind and "do what makes you happy" DH is even wondering about my sanity. I mean, that's a lot of flights in just a few months.

Well, I am definitely in. Booked a room... but I do hear ya. That is a lot of flights in just a few months. I worried about it a bit to be honest with you. I know... maybe that is just weird of me. But I will be on a plan in August, September, October, November, January and February if all goes according to plan. That is a bit crazy... granted.. not each of those represents a round trip. (like I fly down to CA in August but back in September)

I still have this report on my mind, just can't settle my mind enough. Scattered. But I did want to edit myself...we did make ONE of our reservations. I remembered yesterday. We did have breakfast at Kouzzina. :)

Is the breakfast at Kouzzina further into your trip? So you will report on it? I am curious what you thought...

Just a few pix. Animal Kingdom. Weird short day after swimming. The day did nothing but get colder and colder. High 79 (which lasted for maybe an hour), low 44, remember. Shiver.

I like your AK pics!!! That temp difference made it hard that week. I am with you... shiver.

They look especially weird as the sun sets even lower. Just blobs of white in the gloom.

I have seen that! It took us forever to figure out what it was we were seeing in the trees. It was odd.

We tried to do some Wilderness Explorer things but each one was taking so long because we were moving slow, even my brain.

My girls did that. My oldest dd who is in school to become a teacher found it a lot of fun to "teach" her younger sister. Good sister time for sure.

I am so sorry to hear that! I know that people tend to think they are on vacation so they are special... but man it sucks when they forget to realize we are ALL on vacation and trying to enjoy ourselves.

That sounds scary... but also sooo very cool!!!!

:rotfl: I am sorry to giggle.... but yes. Stacey's world would have been nice and I know you were not feeling well... so that is cause for a lot of the icky feeling... but the weather just didn't help!!! I felt so cold and wet so much of the trip. :sad2:

:rotfl:

Actually, the reasons you mention are probably the reasons we decided for. See... dh won't have already got his C2C... so this is his chance. AND Legacy is something then that he could get in on. If it were just me... neither of these two things would matter as much (because I will get my c2c at the dlh... and I am attempting legacy status for the ToT) Dh though... this gives him the opportunity. If you are like me though.. maybe you are more convinced to not go than undecided.

My friend signed up for the W&D! I'll have a traveling and running companion! I'm so excited! Can't stop using exclamation points!

:cool1::cool1::cool1: so cool!

Kouzzina is the 7th, so yes I will talk about what I remember of it. :)

Just putting these down here b/c for some reason I can't comprehend it on the rundisney page:

All Star Movies Resort

All Star Music Resort

All Star Sports Resort

Beach Club Resort

BoardWalk Inn and Villas

Caribbean Beach Resort

Polynesian Resort

Pop Century Resort

Port Orleans Riverside,

Port Orleans French Quarter

Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa

Wilderness Lodge

Yacht Club Resort

OK so now I see that OKW is not on the list. And AKL but that's no biggie for me. No AOA but you can of course walk to Pop. Ooh WL. Ooh BW (like no one else is drooling over that and the ability to walk from the after-party).

I wrote to Acclaim Travel and they have no more 5K bibs for Disneyland Half. If they did, I would have bought 'em and I would have dropped Avengers from my thoughts. But they are out...

The kid would just love it SO much....

Wait...for what race? OKW is no longer on the list??

Edited... never mind... I figure it out. For Wine and Dine.

So sorry to scare you! I keep typing things out for you (like "let's meet up!"), then remember you're doing TOT...we're confusing each other!

I do this with everything-- it's how I stumble through life lol.

Hey, that's cool. With me it's usually avoidance due to fear of failing. That's no fun in the end. And here I've had two incredibly challenging rundisney races, but hey, I did 'em. I trained, I tried, I did. Slowly, but the importance of that is fading.
