Hi! I've always stayed at WDW hotels in the past, but just saw a great deal for Hotel Royal Plaza through Mousesavers, where I can get a room for $56 each night before tax. How is this hotel? Would you recommend it? Also, how is the transportation? I am already booked at the Contemporary for 2 nights for a grand total of $554 (with AAA discount), so for me to be able to get 2 nights for $126 with tax seems unreal! Thanks for your help! :goodvibes

We just got back from staying here. We booked on-line at 1pm and left our house at 3pm. We stayed in the deluxe double room. We were on the 17th floor, top floor, and had views of the magic kingdom and epcot. We could see the fireworks from our room. The hotel was beautiful. it was recently remodeled. The rooms were great. Each bed was comfortable...even better than the disney beds. They each had six pillows on them. No calling for extra pillows. The rooms was bigger than most of the disney rooms. You even had a sofa sitting area with a extra twin bed pull out. They didn't charge us for that. Just call down the front desk and they will send someone to make up the bed for you. The bathroom features bath and body works products. It had a huge whirlpool tub and granite countertop sinks with plenty of room for your stuff. There is a hair dryer and magnifying mirror. There is also a coffee maker in your room and if you bring a laptop you had high speed internet. We had breakfast at the giraffe cafe and it feature a buffet with waffles, danishes, cereals, eggs, biscuits/gravy, bacon, sausages, blitzes and more. The best part is that kids eat free! Our bill for three of us was $25.

This is a great off place for disney. You are still in the downtown disney area. There is bussing to the magic kingdom (we did not ride). You do not have the disney tv information and free parking. There is a disney store in the hotel.

This was a great hotel. I would stay here again. The staff is friendly and the rooms are clean and big with comfortable beds. For the time you spend in your room, I think it is outrageous some of the prices that disney charges you for your rooms. I love staying on property, especially port orleans! But this is a very nice hotel and I would definately recommend it if you do not care if you miss a few of the Disney things that you would get on-site.

Thanks for the report. It looks really nice on the internet. So glad to hear it from someone who stayed there! thanks :)

I think this hotel would be your best bet, price wise. I've stayed at the Best Western and the Hilton in DTD and from the looks of it, the Hotel Royal Plaza seems to be the best bet. The Best Western was ok but was showing it's age, imo. The Hilton was nice but the prices can be pretty high compared to the HRP. My family is thinking of taking a quick, cheap trip in mid December and the HRP looks like what we are going to choose.

The ONE advantage I would give the Hilton for a busy time like New Years is that you can take advantage of EMH hours there while you can't at any other DTD hotel.

I enjoyed my recent stay at the HRP.

Anyone have any good suggestions for 2 nights one in the begining of our stay and one in the end??? for April 3rd and 10th????

we just stayed there too! Could not add a night onto our package of free dining so we moved to the Hotel Royal Plaza for $79.00 with a deal through travelzoo. We had a poolside deluxe. Ground level with a patio. I agree, beds were much more comfortable than our Disney bed. We had breakfast on our patio outside. We spent our last night here then headed to DTD for shopping and lunch, then off to the airport. Our first night we spent at the Holiday Inn select near the airport (hotwire $56.00/night), picked up our rental car at 9am, stopped at Super Target and checked in early! Worked out great.

So glad to read a great review about this hotel. I like the new look on their website. The tripadvisors reviews on not too good even after the reopening. I was debating about staying at a DTD hotel instead of onsite for our next trip in June 2007.
