HOT TOYS for CHRISTMAS 2006

What a great thread!

The only thing I have purchased so far that I was concerned about is Guitar Heroes for PS2. My 12 DD really wants this and I know how video games can be harder to find around Christmas. The only problem is, it is driving DH CRAZY that he cannot play with it and he knows we have it!

I also agree on the Nintendo Wii being a big hit this year - this one is at the top of DS's (12) christmas list.

DD (10) hasn't really asked for anything specific yet - she still loves American Girl so she may get one more doll - I have a feeling this might be her last year :guilty: I'll keep getting them for her if she is still interested though. She does collect Tink Stuff and she mentioned the Tink's Fairies items - they have some dolls and playsets like Polly pockets - not sure if she wants them to play with or just to add to her collection - lol

My DS has mentioned this one also - I might have to go check it out.

So far, the one item the boys want is Laser Battle. As far as I can tell, from Walmart, Target, and Toysrus sites, it's not out yet.
Zoe wants a bratz head (the make up kind).
The boys are pretty much electronics all the way (or money!) and Zoe is still young enough to want just about everything "girlie" she sees!

Nephews are always so hard for me to buy for ... would a 6-7 year old like this kind of thing and fit in the "outfit"?

Thanks

I think so. They would be able to put it on and turn it on by themselves, my 5yo needs some help, so IMO they would like it. And it is big enough to fit, it has a drawstring to close it at the waist, so it has ample room.

My 7yo really wants it, he loves to dress up in superhero and knight costumes, he has a lot of them. I was thinking I would get him that and the thing that looks like superman can bend a steel bar.

Yes the Wii is it for us. We already have Zelda on preorder and as soon as it is available for Wii we are switching it over to that-You will be able to use your controller as a sword!!!! :cheer2: I don't know who is more excited me or ds. We were thinking PS3 but talking with the video game guys- our in the know connection- they say that it is not ready to be released and if it comes out it will have bugs- since we have that problem with the playstation 2 I think we'll wait a little while = plus at that price we can buy a wii and a XBOX 360!

Wow, I'm behind the times. Somehow I'd missed the wii thing! My DS2 (not so much DS1) has been asking for the Sony PxP.

I think what the kids are going to get, though, is gift cards to Disney to help with the cost of the tickets. With finances the way they are now, can't afford big x-mas presents AND tickets to WDW next March.

It's Nintendo's newest console. It should have some really cool features. Here is a link:

Nintendo wii

I say that the wii and ps3 will be big sellers and if your looking to make money on ebay these will bring big $$ ..

My son wants Guitar Hero as well. I am trying to decided to buy now or wait to see if it goes on sale or special the day after turkey day.... or will it sell out or will the price go up?

My dd wants one of those Princess tvs.

I just ordered Guitar Hero from Amazon for my dd's birthday (turning 11). She played it in Best Buy and loved it. Also pre-ordered Sims Pets 2 for her. Other than that, I don't know.

Can you preoprder Nintendo Wii?

The places I have checked are not taking preorders yet because until today there was no official price or release date. Now that there is, it shouldn't be too long until the retailers get the info on their initial shipments and can start taking preorders. Apparently the places I've checked have had LOTS of calls asking to preorder, so it seems that the Wii is very eagerly anticipated!

I've been looking around online today at Guitar Hero and it seems that Guitar Hero 2 will be released in November so it is possible that maybe the reg Guitar Hero may come down in price so far I've seen the first one for $69.99 while the new GH2 will be $79.99 - so I am also trying to decide if I get the original one now or wait for #2 :confused3

My son is 6 and this year will be our first w/any video game console. I was leaning toward a PS2. Is that a good choice for now??? or will it be outdated as soon as I get it??? I never even heard of the Wii until this thread it looks way more technical than a 6 yr old would need. pls help...this is our big santa gift this year and I'm lost!!

Also too, how do your younger kiddos even know what to ask for???? My kids (6 & 4) have never said I want this particular game or toy or doll. (except for he has asked for a video game system like his friend). Don't get me wrong put them in a toy aisle and they find a 100 things they want but really I never hear them ask for anything in particular unless we are right there. I always research and look for hot toys and seem to get it right.

I'm convinced that the toys that relate to Mickey Mouse Clubhouse are going to popular. My 3 year old LOVES that show. Also the toys are unisex so both boys and girls will want them.

I put a call out to all the Aunts, Uncles, and G-Parents to be on the look out for it already.

I haven't seen any. Where did you find these?? Thanks!!

Among the electronics the Star Wars DVds will be a battle to find

Well our PS2 is generally a piece of junk- plays randomly when it feels like it- often has disc read error issues and seldom can get through a whole movie without overheating. But I bet the price will come down once the playstation 3 is released(although it is at a completely different price point so maybe not- but I don't think you will have a hard time getting a PS2 I wouldn't be surprised to see that as a Black Friday thing......hmmm...
Now in deciding between the 2 systems I think it comes down to games. We are excited about the Wii because we are a huge Zelda family. I also think they have far more family titles out there. But Playstation has some great sports and fighting games and we love Crash Bandicoot and Spyro.... So I think it is all about which games your son will be into. The Wii's big thing is the control pad- the wireless aspect and the way we think it will play games like Zelda- If you use the controller like a sword- your character will move it the same way you do..... at least we think that is what it will do.....
That is about all that I know on these things and this is all thanks to a 12 year old son that subscribes to Nintendo Power and Tips and Tricks.....
