Mid-week 2-night stay next June. (I'll book at AKL, home resort, then try to move it at 7 months.) I'll be solo, rejuvenating after a business conference in Orlando. No parks, just relaxation, pool time, good food and good drinks. I want to stay at a DVC resort I haven't before. So that limits me to Poly, Grand Floridian, Riviera, Beach Club, and Boulder Ridge.

What would you choose, and why?

While I haven't stayed at Grand Floridian, I would choose that. Lots of good restaurants and lounges and a spa, if you decide to partake. The large pool seemed a lot more relaxed than the both the main pool and the DVC area pool at the Polynesian.

Based on your trip goals, I'd go with the Poly. It has the most relaxing atmosphere of the resorts you listed, and access via monorail to additional options for food and drink at GF and CR. The evening outdoor seating at Wailulu or Trader Sam's is also very relaxing with the tiki torches and the MK lights across the lagoon. Runner up choice for chill atmosphere would be Boulder Ridge and Geyser Point.
