I don't know if Wii has Pokemon. If you are not against young children having a video game system you should be able to find appropriate game titles for the Wii. I have no idea how difficult the new controller will be to use though.

But its their old style controller (the one from the NES I believe, this was a very simple control which a 5 year old will have no problem with) but you will be able to also use it as someone above me said to mimic actions. So if you want to swing a sword you would swing the controller, this is the part that I am unsure of. It may be too difficult for some younger children. I have no idea, how well it works.

Sounds like a lot of fun if the controller does what they say it does. I can't wait to try it out. We will most likely be getting one and I will allow me 4 year old to use it if she can.

The Wii is from Nintendo, the same makers has the Gamecube, DS Lite and Gameboy.

My 4 year old has the Gamecube. She got it last year. Her cousins in elementary school have the Gamecube as well. They all like it and there are plenty of titles for them to choose from.

Wii is intended to be good for the entire family. Because the controller is motion sensitive, it should be much more intuitive than most video game controllers. It will also play Gamecube games, and there are MANY of those that are appropriate for kids. It will not play the Gameboy games, though - unless some of those will be available for download.

Pokemon will be on the Wii. In addition to playing the Gamecube Pokemon game, it will also play "Pokemon Battle Revolution", but i don't know when they will release that in the US. It is supposed to be out in Japan in December, so sometime after that it should come out here.

Oops I forgot he's 6 now... OMG, you would have thought the sky opened that I wrote 5. He has gameboy advance and loves pokemon. We were debating gamecube b/c his friends have it. But wouldnt it be cool to be the first kid in the neighborhood with Wii? Will it play advance games? anyone know?

Toys based on the Cartoon Network show Ben 10 seem to be popular in my area. My DS (9) desperately wants an Omnitrix, and it is sold out in six different stores!

It will play Gamecube games and Wii games, which are both on disks. It will also have a "Virtual Console" feature that will allow you to purchase games for download. Those will consist of some NES, SNES, and N64 games as well as some created just for the Wii. They have not announced any Gameboy Advance games that will be available for download. It won't be able to play the games that you already own for GBA because it won't have anyplace to put those cartidges. It will also not play the other games on cartridges - like the N64, SNES, and NES games - unless they become available for download and you buy them that way.

The Go Diego Go things seem hot here :confused3 My little guy loves all things Dora & Diego. Cosco had a great Diego rescue car gift pack for $21.00 and I grabbed one last week. Yesterday they were gone already.

Amazon.com is now taking preorders at least that is what their site says.

Thanks, I just ordered it!

I had called Gamestop yesterday and they said probably next few days or next week.

They said they probably would not be taking orders on the PS3 because they have no idea how many they would get. But that I should keep calling back.

My DS 3 wants the diego rescue pack or car or whatever its called. My sister who is 10 wants a deal or no deal electornic game and a bartzz doll with makeup thingy. Any idea where i can get them cheap.

I've pre-ordered a Wii from Amazon.com. I double-checked with CS, and my credit card won't be charged until the system actually ships. She said that orders will be shipped in the same order they were placed.

I'm also going to pre-order with my local EBGames. I don't want to risk going with one pre-order, and ending up with the same problem that people had when the XBox 360 had "production problems".

Can you tell me how did you pre order in Amazon.com? I searched the site but can't find the pre order link. The only thing is to sign up for the alert when it's ready to be ordered. Thanks. :)

It says its no longer available, they must of hit their first limit.. I guess.

Gamestop/ebgames says they won't take preorders until they are guaranteed amounts(after last years xbox360 disasters) So they said keep checking- although he thought it could take up to a month..... ARG! Also said that if you put a preorder on a wii game you will be alerted when they will start taking wii preorders.........

Does anyone know how much is Wii going to cost - MSRP, not ebay-after market pricing!

Thanks!

The only thing my sons have started asking for is the Superman Inflato-suit.

My mom got my 4 y/o a Superman outfit that has the built in muscles and the 'S' lights up. My son was super excited till he tried to fly....literally bent his knees, put his arms out and jumped...only to land back on his feet. He was crushed! And my mother got mad because I recommended it since he likes to hold a towel on his shoulders and run around here in his Superman underwear....oh well.

The Diego Rescue Station was also a b'day gift and was VERY popular with both my 4 year old and 2 y/o sons...days and days of play. I plan to add to the collection for Christmas...I would do the Dora stuff too but DH would freak over all of the pink and princessy stuff that she is sporting now.

THere was a Fur Real Friends(I think) Chimpanzee on a commercial the other day and my 4 y/o said that he wanted one of those...but they also wanted the 'tickle me' Curious George ...who was quickly shunned by both the 4 y/o and the 2 y/o.

Awww, poor kid! My DS went through a period from 2yo to 5 yo where he wore a bandana as a cape EVERY DAY, we have them in every color, I even bought him a Mickey one to wear to WDW.

My 2yo ds loves Dora, I wish they would come out with some less girly stuff for her. I'm going to get him one of the backpacks that comes with a map and some other stuff. I'm also looking at a Beanie version of Dora, it's closer to a stuffed animal than a doll so I think DH will be okay with it. DS doesn't care for Diego.

My kids keep seeing a commercial for a game called "Speed Stack Set", has anyone else seen this? They really want it and I think it's a huge waste of money, all you do is stack cups while a timer runs, from what I understand. And it's $39.99.

Cranium has some really cool toys out this year that I'm looking at getting. They have a Talking picture book, super story recorder, super fort, and mega mask kits. My kids haven't seen any of them so I don't know they're feelings on them yet, but I'm going to get htem the story toys and the super fort. They had them in the etoys catalog.

Thanks!

The console itself will be $249. It will come with one controller and one game - "Wii Sports". Additional controllers will be a total of $60 each - they come in two parts, the main part ($39) and another part that won't be used on all games($19), and they can be purchased separately.

Nintendo games will be about $50, but third party games may be more or less.

I love reading this list for ideas.

My dd5, dd10 and dd12 have the speed stack thing and they and their friends are obsessed with it. Best 39 bucks I have spent on a bunch of plastic cups :goodvibes I have to admit, dh and I have tried it too.

I think amazon is taking preorders for the nintendo Wii. Think its 249? Sorry if someone else has already posted this, havent had time to read the whole thread.
