Horrible, horrible review of Raglan Road....UPDATE #62

Wow....and I thought we had a bad experience at RR -- our dinner also took 3 hours and was pretty much inedible, but no one was rude to us.

I need to cancel our reservation for next January. As dh said, he wouldn't eat there again if they were giving the food away. 3 hours was too long with a 9yr old, I can't imagine how difficult it would be with a 9 month old! We also went early, hoping to finish relax before taking the boat back to our resort. By the time we sat for 3 hours, we just wanted to crawl into our beds.

crikey, we must have been very lucky then, we had a really attentive server, prempted every need, and the food arrived timely and was delicious. It was no.1 this year for all round satisfaction for us.

I am amazed at the reviews coming in. We had such a pleasant dinner there in Septemebr (not DDP). I sure hope that they see this and that something is done. :confused3

My DH had hoped to dine here again in January, but unless the reviews turn around, we will probably choose somewhere else.

Thanks for sharing your positive and negative experiences. Let's hope the positive become the next trend.

I have sent an email (few days back) and will definitely post the reply I get from WDW.

It really is disheartening.....I dreamed about going back to this restaurant, I would search the DIS just to find pictures of the food. The first time was THAT good. I just can't ever imagine going back now......:sad2:

That is absolutely appalling. They are lucky you even waited to eat anything. most restaurants would offer you some kind of discount for keeping you waiting that long - or even a free meal.

But to be so rude to you because you rightfully asked for the drinks tip to be removed is appalling.

Well, I was planning to eat at Raglan Road again on our next trip, but I'm going to be choosing somewhere else if that's how they treat their customers.

That is horrible, there is no reason for that kind of service and the managers tone. I don't blame you a bit for not leaving a extra tip, even as a server there is no reason fo a guest to sit 30 minutes without a drink..:sad2: Glad I decided not to go there this year, we always get the shaft when we try somewhere new.

We ate there shortly after it opened and were really looking forward to it however we found it to be awful and would not return. Service was slow and the fish we ordered was wet and soggy pretty much inedible. WDW has much better dining options on offer.

My husband and I had lunch at RR this May on our last day of vacation. We were in no hurry at all and it was a good thing because it seems that slow, poor service is the standard for this restaurant. We arrived around noon and found a empty restaurant (maybe 3 tables taken), when we asked to be seated we were told there was a wait:sad2: we said ok and sat in the bar area and had a beer. (the bartender was very nice and even offered us a menu and the chance to eat in the bar, should have taken her up on it!) After about 10 min. we were seated. It was a loooooong time before we saw a waitress....and an even looooooooooger time before we got food. At the time we did not mind because after spending a week with 10 family members we were happy to be alone:rotfl: however, if it had been anyother type of a touring day we would have been very upset. Our food was good, but I agree that the service was the worst. I guess we all need to communicate these type of things to Disney so it will change.

Where can you wite or call about this I have ressies for Feb and want to express my concerns ahead of time ??

I remember that I was a bit nervous about keeping my own reservation for Raglan Road on October 11, but I did, and I had a pleasant experience there. I was warned in advance that service can be a crapshoot. I lucked out and got a server that was warm and personable, but I didn't remember to catch his name.

He told me when I ordered Paddy's Pork that it was the best item on the menu, and I thought my order was cooked well and I cleaned my plate. (The photo evidence is in my trip report. I'm thinking of starting a food-only report here soon.) He also said that I made a good dessert choice, as the bread pudding was the most requested item off the menu, as well. I didn't regret it at all.

Since I knew I could have had your server and experience, I also found out that my friends who have eaten at the bar told me the service there is often superior than at the tables. If I return to Raglan Road again, I won't take any more chances of this crapshoot...I'll sit at the bar.

It annoys me to no end that this restaurant doesn't feel it needs to conform to the Disney standards of service because it's only an operating participant. I hope Disney will "secret shop" this restaurant very soon.

That stinks! I would email and not stop until you get an appropriate response, what ever you deem that.

DH and I ate at RR this past September. We had an ADR but chose to sit at the bar. We ordered drinks, the Sangria for me and a Guinness for him. The bartender was friendly and could not have cared less that we were sharing 1 TS between the both of us.

That has got to be the worst review of a retaurant I have ever read! I don't think with all these negative reviews that I will be going there anytime soon.

I am a big fan of Raglan Road, but on our trip last week the one thing I did notice aobut Raglan Road and most of the other table service restaurants was that the waiters/waitress were friendly enough, but did not really do much beyond the bare minimum to get us through our meal. If you wanted a drink you really had to be quick to try to flag him/her down as they were rushing by you etc. I don't know if this is because they have become a bit "lazy" knowing they are going to get a fairly good tip since it is automatically added or if this is because of the high volume that the restaurants experience (maybe they don't have as much time to spend on each individual table). Whatever the reason is, I miss the good ol' days of excellent service!!

I have read many more positive reviews of this restaurant. While in nio way wishing to diminish what others have said here/
. I still will give it a shotand see for myself. I remember other restaurants that got bad reviews on the boards such as Sci Fi we loved it even though the food is not the greatest the atmosphere and a super waiter made it a do again!! H& V got bad reviews too and we all loved the food the atmosphere and the staff. I totally agree that CM and Manager were wrong, but hopefully with you following up on this they are either history or have been re trained!!

I am sorry to hear you had such a bad experience.

I was really looking forward to an early dinner at Raglan Road. Since we are paying for 2TS oop anyways, I think we'll get a feel for what kind of server we get before we order food. We can order appys only if we get a slow server, then hit ghiardellis (sp?) for dessert :goodvibes .

My understanding is that since they're not considered a "Disney" restaurant that the servers don't get 18%, they actually get a fixed rate, something to the tune of $4 (not sure if it's per person or table or what) when the customer is on DDP. This isn't an excuse for crappy service, however. We have heard both good and bad reviews, have ADR for December 15th and we'll see...... I can promise that if our experience is bad that we don't be returing.

If that is right the new DDP should fix that problem as the guest will be paying the tip!
