Horrible, horrible review of Raglan Road....UPDATE #62

I know that this is several months after the OPs experience, but I wanted to chime in. I have been a loyal and frequent customer at Raglan Road since they opened, and often take colleagues there as well as recommend it frequently. Disney management often dines there as well.

Every meal I have eaten there has been outstanding - a great veggie option, and the menu has had frequent updates.

Service however has ranged from abysmal to outstanding, with no rhyme or reason as to how and why the servers vary so much. My last visit was in October, and like the OP I had a poor experience with a male manager (Wonder if it was the same one?)

I will still continue to frequent Raglan Road, and refer it positively to people, but the service really does need to become more consistent.

At this point however I do still consider Raglan Road to be far above most of the Disney run restaurants on site, based on menu and food quality.

Raglan Road should have their license to serve on WDW taken away. I complained to a WDW CM who showed up (magically...it was an interesting coincidence) after a horrible experience there last December. We will NEVER return nor recommend it to anyone.

We ate there on the DDP last September & had a horrible server. We observed that it wasn't just our table, but the others around us who had the same server also received terrible service. The time factor played into our negative service, too. I flagged down a manager & gave him an earful on behalf of our table & the guests next to us. We will not eat there again.

I love Raglan Road. The Shepherd's Pie is unreal. The best part is that one of the band members actually let my 4 yo play the violin with her before her performance. It was one of the highlights of the week. I would recommend it to anyone.

i know this is not really part of the "subject". But where on WDW property is RR??

What an awful experience! Im no fan of Raglan Road either and was also humiliated by a server. When we were there in August 06 the air con wasnt working properly and we were all sweating buckets. The singer couldnt sing and kept singing just four songs all evening. By the end of the evening I had enough of 'What shall we do with the drunken sailor?', Scarborough Fair and two other Simon and Garfunkel songs. I asked our server if there would be any Irish songs played, to which he answered, 'We dont do Irish songs here, we prefer American music!' and then slammed our drinks down so hard he spilt them. I was so taken aback as I was only asking politely and the answer was pretty dumb too as it is an Irish pub!! He was a very grumpy man and he didnt get any better all evening.
The food was quite good but the portions were minute. Added to that we were in the area off to the side - it was like sitting in a dungeon. By 9pm, we left, still hungry, upset by our rude server and with our ears ringing. The kids were almost in tears. It would take a lot to make me go back to RR and after reading this post I dont feel inclined to.

After hearing so many horror stories, I will be cancelling my reservations for our upcoming trip. I don't want to chance it. I am so sorry you received such horrible treatment. That would have ruined my whole evening.

I'm so sad to hear of these horrible experiences. We must have been very, very lucky with our own good ones :(

Wow!
Guess I missed this thread for a while now!!

I just made an adr there last night. It will be my one night alone with dh. I will be making a new adr this morning!! I'm sure it is good at times, but I am not willing to chance it. I'll go with Jiko or Blue Zoo. Cancelling RR!!!

I have never done the dining plan, and I may be imagineering it, but it seems the servers all breathe a sigh of relief when we answer "No, we're not on the ddp". Is it just me? It is the main reason I do not do the ddp. Am I crazy?

I've had a variety of dining plans in the past (Silver Plan, Premium Plan, etc.) and have never seen that reaction. I honestly think it is something made up on online forums.

and I thought I was treated shoddy at Tony's restaurant!!

Glad you wrote the report, and I'm glad AKL took care of you - what I hope is Disney is concerned enough when all this automatic 18% tip junk is hitting the servers and patrons!!

We had the same wait and attitude from our server at Tony's, and food wasnt as described, but we could never get a hold of the darn server to complain, and the manager was no where to be found, since we were on the Free Dining, I just gave up.

But we'll never go back!!
