We were there last night as well, and it was definitely challenging. I'm so sorry that your child was hurt. We were in that area about the same time, and I wish that I had seen you struggling. I would have been happy to help.

For those who are looking for a quick review that doesn't involve an injury, I should probably chime in with our experience. We got to the park around 7pm and got a quick ride on KS before heading to Rivers of Light (which went on despite the storm....was a little apprehensive that we were going to light up like a Christmas tree, but I'm sure that they know what they're doing). When the event began at 9pm our first stop was Dinosaur, and as mentioned by the OP, it was down (the power was back on, but they were waiting for a reboot). After checking MDE, we found that FOP and Navi both had short waits, so we headed over.

My husband suffers from a disability, so the extra walking about because of the closures meant that we had a shorter night than I would have hoped. He lasted until 10:30pm. We purchase the AH tickets to avoid zigzagging about, and that wasn't in the cards last night.

We rode FOP 1X
Navi 1X
It's Tough to Be a Bug 1X
met Mickey and Minnie
Dinosaur 1X

We could have easily ridden each multiple times. The only attraction that had not opened by the time that we left was EE. Popcorn, drinks, and ice cream were plentiful and easy to find. It was a steady but lighter rain by 9pm, and seemed to be on it's way to stopping by 10:30,

but I still want to try to have some fun so I start asking around for where our "free food/drinks" are

Oh, they are all closed except one, on the opposite side of the park, for "worker safety" So, in the entire after hours, there was ONE stand open for anything. I said, I just need a water, can I please get a water somewhere?

"If you want to pay. If you want it for free you have to walk to other side of park."

I would definitely make this a part of any report you make. I'm glad Disney cares about their workers, but they also need to care about their guests. If it was unsafe for workers to be out, it was unsafe for guests to be out.

If you're still at WDW I would try to deal with talking to Guest Services there before you leave - it's easier to do in person. They should have helped you - no doubt on that.

I'm so sorry about your experience. That would just be awful to go through. I really hope you take it to Guest Services.

And I am hoping you are able to have a magical day today with your son!

I’m so sorry that happened to your son and no CM would help you. :sad1:
I’d probably have left the park as well.
As others have suggested, share your story with guest services.

That is horrible. I would have been furious and probably cried angry tears. Please speak to someone today and let us know how it goes. If you can write down times and as many facts as you can remember (do you remember the name of the triceratops spin CM? If not, a description?) To help you when talking to guest services.

We are leaving today - actually on way to airport right now. I sent lengthy email. Thanks for understanding and validating my feelings. I felt so hurt and shocked.

It sounds very dramatic with blood and a screaming hysterical child. Neither guests who witnessed the incident, guests who saw your bleeding and hysterical child nor numerous CMs offered to help you? Astonishing that so many passers by, both fellow guests and CMs at various stations and positions all ignored you. Shame on us all.

So sorry. Hope your child is better. Go to Guest Service or hotel front desk (don’t call as that is call center).

Yes that is definitely unacceptable cast member service. They should have called first aid to assist you or at a minimum help you get there. I carry Band Aids with me, so I would have helped you out, I learned the hard way that obtaining a band aid at Disney isn't a fast affair. I would definitely file a complaint.

My family had a similar experience with the Christmas Party in 2017 and we were provided a full refund. If you are still in the parks/resort area, try to make it over to Guest Services and explain what happened. The CM's response to a child having his leg stuck and injured on a ride is absolutely unacceptable. I got my foot rolled over by a cart in Magic Kingdom and you'd have thought I was dying the number of CM's that responded. The rain Disney can't fix, their employee's behavior though, that can be remedied.

I am so sorry. They should have directed you to First Aid!

We've had a number of special events (MNSSHP) and regular days (at Blizzard Beach) that have been a bit of a disaster due to the rain. I can sympathize that it's disappointing when you pay a lot and things are cancelled.

Regarding not being able to go into the store, they have their procedures that they cannot let guests into certain areas when it's closed, and even if it's very guest-unfriendly, I've been told it's their procedures and they cannot bend it. But, they should have directed you to First Aid or called for help, period.

When Blizzard Beach closed due to lightning in the area, we went to grab our bag and most of the park was abruptly closed. Only if you had put your bag in the lockers or the very front chairs would you be able to access it. We could not get to our clothes and cell phones, and they simply would not let us get it. The said the bag would get picked up and taken to the Lost and Found in the front. We went to the front and waited for the cart to arrive and it wasn't there. They called a manager. The manager finally came to talk to us. Finally, he manager agreed to go look for my bag and retrieve it. It took a long time to get our bags back.

Wow. The cast members should have directed you to First Aid. According to Disney's website:

First Aid
Presented by AdventHealth
At Walt Disney World Resort, your well-being is our top priority.

Theme Parks and Water Parks
If you begin to feel ill or find that you require medical assistance, please visit one of our conveniently located First Aid centers.
Nurses are available during normal park operating hours to offer over-the-counter medications, bandages and other quick remedies so that you can begin enjoying your vacation again.

It says "during normal park operating hours", does that include special events like DAH?

We were there this summer and found that out of all the 4 parks, that the cast members at animal kingdom were the worst. I mention in my review how the photographers were very rude at animal kingdom in my review. We also had an injury. My daughter jammed her thumb on tommorrowland speedway when the wheel spun and her thumb jammed on my knee. We left the ride and went to cosmic rays to see if we could get her some ice. My wife asked for ice for her jammed finger. I manager came up right away and asked what had happened. We explained to her what happened and that we though it was fine just jammed. She brought out a map and showed us exactly where the first aid station was and that we should go and have it looked at just in case and that if any extra medical attention was needed, they would be able to arrange it. I know that they probably put their top cast members at magic kingdom because it is the most iconic park, but I think that we should expect a certain level of service throughout all the parks.

Call guest services. We had a similar experience with a CM being less than helpful when it came to first aid, it boggles my mind.

Julia from Chicago... is that you 🧐

Yeah, I'm sensing a lot of unnecessary sarcasm. Regardless of how she described her child as crying (children can overact even in the smallest instances...it's what they do) someone still should've stopped and offered to help. As soon as the CM operating the ride saw that her son had potentially injured himself, he should've pulled her off to the side and once he was able to do so, flag or radio someone over to help her out. It's not just being kind, it's common sense.

Wow! That is so disappointing. Multiple CMs not helping with an injured child. I would be shocked if they didn’t refund your money and do something else for you. That’s so awful. I know the event is rain or shine but the lightning last night was bad. We are staying at Kidani and had tickets to go last night and tried but it was pretty bad and a few in my party were scared of the lightning so it was a no go. We went to hotel desk and asked what could be done and they gave us day tickets to AK to replace our after hours tickets. Apparently last night Disney springs lost power and was shut down and the power flickered here and their computers were down up front for a bit. I’m glad we didn’t go after hearing your story I would have been so disappointed even without the horrible incident you had to deal with. In my opinion if they’re going to run an event like that and not cancel how could they possibly shut down the normal stands and stores that are open during the event. If they were going to do so they should have just canceled the event. I hope your son is okay and Disney takes care of their mistakes for you.
