We decided to let the kids sleep in (although DS was poking me at 7:00 a.m.--wondering what he should do), so we didn't actually mosey out of our room til about 10 a.m. Headed for Coffee Shop at Disneyland Hotel for coffee, hot chocolate and croissants--yum.
Walked to DCA (have I mentioned that I LOVE how close everything is at Disneyland? Honestly, the walk from our hotel room to the DCA gate was shorter than our walk at WDW from our room at the Caribbean Beach resort to the food court! ;) ) and enjoyed the beautiful California sunshine. Why anyone would choose to move away from California is beyond me...
My memory is pretty shot, but I'll try to give a recap of our DCA experience. We hit Soarin'--which had become my favorite ride at WDW. Disneyland's Soarin' was even better, I think, 'cause the piped-in smells consistently worked--not so for WDW.
Got free tortilla samples (again, so impressed that Disney gives out freebies!) and ate at the Pacific Wharf--soup in a bread bowl--yum.
Went to the Pier area--were about to ride Mulholland Madness when it broke down. Will say that we seemed to experience a lot of ride breakdowns--more so than with any trip to WDW. Alice in Wonderland, MM, Space Mountain...to name a few.
DH and kids did some of the other rides--Orange one, Jellyfish ride, etc. They loved them.
Crowds were bearable--never waited more than 10 minutes for anything.
We spent $21 :earseek: for three ponchos before getting on the Grizzly Rapids ride--but was worth keeping dry. Next time remember the WalMart ponchos!
Enjoyed the live performers around the Grizzly ride.
Really loved the National Park area (can't remember actual name--interactive play area with "park rangers".) Kids could have stayed there all afternoon.
Had to leave around six to meet DH's friend for dinner at Catal in DTD. What an excellent restaurant! Loved the marinated olives and ceviche. Nice bottle of shiraz to drink.
About DTD--what a great place to relax and unwind at after a day at the parks! The food, music and shopping FAR surpass Florida's DTD! I love that there are shops that carry such a variety of merchandise and not just Disney tchotchkes!
Kids went to Build a Bear--I let them each buy an outfit for their multitude of overpriced fluffers they have at home. They were happy.
End of day--back to room--no toilet surprises today, but I did find out that the Disneyland hotel gave us a credit of $75 for our inconvenience! (Did I already say that?) I was impressed--it paid for a meal! :flower:

Glad to hear of the credit, I think it was well deserved : )

Love the soup bowl also, yum...

I like DCA's version of Soarin' better as well, but mainly for the theming. I love the aviation history theming as opposed to the almost sterile, lack of theming at the Epcot version.

Sounds great so far. And happy to hear that a CM (or manager.) remembered to compensate you for the toilet incident. It's not fun and kind of a hassle to have to ask.....anyway, glad things are going well. Thanks for sharing :flower:
