We're planning a trip for January and trying to figure out our dining plan. We think we want to do Hoop Dee Doo, but I'm curious about the travel time. We'll be staying at AKL... how long do you think it would take to get there? Is it worth it?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, it's worth the trip! If you leave the bus stop at AKL 1 hour before show time, you should be fine. Add 15 minutes if you're paranoid! Take the Magic Kingdom bus, then walk to the boat launch to the left of the MK entrance and boat over to Ft. Wilderness. Pioneer Hall is right up from the dock, on the left. If you get there early, you can line up to get an old time photo taken, or just look around the place. Forget trying to bus over- you'll need to switch busses inside Ft. Wilderness and it's pretty confusing.

HDDR is a very entertaining dinner show for everyone. It's fairly slapstick humor, but very good-natured. The meal was ok by Disney standards and there is plenty of it, so you won't go hungry. If you go to HDDR, take the bus to MK and boat over. That is the easiest way to get there. And the boat ride is very relaxing.

I'd go for the 1st show/dinner; you may finish in time to make it back to MK for Wishes.

HDD is a great show and I would highly recommend it - our family has seen it twice.

You know, if you are strapped for time you could always take a taxi! We had to do it our last trip to get to the Kona Cafe (Polynesian) from the Boardwalk - we just couldn't figure out an easy way to get there without taking a long time. It was about $12, which was worth it to us at the time.

But, even with the taxi, don't you have to allow for time to get to Pioneer Hall on the bus or do the taxis drop you off there? I didn't think any vehicles (except busses) went to Pioneer hall :confused3 .

That is correct. The taxi will drop you off at the front of FW and you would need to get to the back to Pioneer Hall.

I guess I am parinoid because I would allow more than an hour to get there. I guess I figure that most everything would go wrong.

20 minutes waiting for MK bus (because I just missed the previous one.
15 minutes - ride to MK
3 minutes - Walk over to the boat
15 minutes wait for boat (becasue we just missed the earlier one.
20 minutes - boat ride (It stops at WL first)
5 minutes - walk up to Pioneer Hall
78 minutes total

After HDDR, if the MK is closed, there will be busses right at the bus stop near Pioneer Hall to take you back to your resort.
