Hoop-Dee-Doo - what time to pick & how far in advance to reserve...?

I saw on a site that this show is offered 3 times each evening, 5:00, 7:15, and 9:30. Any recommentations on what time to pick for the best show?

Also, I saw that you can reserve this 2 years in advance and that that when you reserve determines your seat. So I assume if I wanted to go tomorrow, I going to get a less than desirable seat. Can anyone tell me how far in advance they reserved and what type of seat they got?

I've been twice. The first time was in 1992. It was just my wife and me, before we had kids, and we actually got a seating at the late show by calling the day we arrived in Orlando. Someone must have canceled. We were seated right in front of the stage. For me, this would normally be too late for dinner, but we were tired anyway, so it worked out to nap for a while to recover from travel and then head out.

The second time was in 2000, now with four kids. I think we called in April or May for an October trip. Because we had young children with us, we did the earliest show. Our table was quite a bit further back from the stage, still on the lower level, and still very good.

So, I guess my advice is:

1. Go early with children and later without.
2. Keep trying if you can't get the reservation you want because one may open up.

we have always gone to the middle show. we have booked about 6-9 months in advance and have always had a great table.

We went once before (back in 96') and called last minute. It was just DH and I and we were seated up on the 2nd level. The seats were fine for us - we could see fine and we had quite a bit of room on either side of us so we didn't feel cramped.

I just called yesterday to book for May and asked if they thought it was still possible to sit on the lower level since my MIL has bad arthritis and can't do stairs very well. I was told that they plan the seating the night before so I wouldn't have a problem getting lower level seating(but he did put in that I had a MIL with issues). He told me that it's the size of the group that really determines where you sit - larger groups always are on the first level, smaller groups on the 2nd (we're a party of 6). Then, if they have a lot of smaller groups it's who called first who sits on the bottom.

Personally I'd rather be up top and close than on the first floor and far back.

So if what RamseyTrio says is true, that sucks that smaller parties get stuck upstairs. I have no idea how far away 2nd level is, but I *do* know that at any concerts it means CHEAP seats. Do I get a discount to sit up there and overlook the show?

M y wife and I have gone twice without the kids and got downstairs both times. We did book 8 to 10 months out and there are plenty of small tables downstairs. I have never been upstairs. I am sure if you call far enough in advance, you will get downstairs. The upstairs is a balcony and can't accomdate large groups like the downstairs but believe me, there were far more tables for groups of 2 to 4 or 6 people than large tables..smjj

Just booked Hoop de Doo for May 9. We are a group of 7, so I was told we'd need 2 tables of 4.

Now do I have to worry about being seated upstairs and not having a good seat. I didn't know about the upper level.

Although we havent been to the Hoop De Doo for a few years, we remember the only obstruction would be the railing and the tables are right up against it so it shouldnt be a problem. You should be able to see the whole show. The show moves around quite a bit and involved many guests, including those up top! Have a great time and dont stress.

We reserved about 6 months in advance for our October 2001 show. We were a party of 2, and were seated lower level, front row, center, at the 7:30 show. Fantastic show with a lot of interaction from the performers!

When we were there last year we sat next to a table with about 20 people at it. There were quite a few parties with 8 or so people in them. I would call back and see if you could all be together. It will be so much more fun.
BTW. We are a family of three and called 3mo out and were front and center botton floor. With kids a great plan is the 5:00 show followed by a 7:00 hay ride.
