Trying to decide if we should give it a try. Sounds like fun and could make a nice evening after a day at the water park.

About how long is the entire show?

Is it far to walk if staying at Wilderness Lodge? or is there other transportation from here?

Please compare seating tiers for me? Is 3rd that bad? Used to love Diamond Horseshoe review when I was younger, figure this is similar idea. Never minded sitting up above stage there, but I imagine this place is much bigger.

Other option is an evening at the Boardwalk, very different. No sit down restaurant unless hit ESPN, are there places to sit to eat if you grab a hot dog, pizza etc?
How would I get from WL to Boardwalk?

:thumbsup2
We have been 6 or 7 times, when the kids were small to next May when we are having a WDW Family reunion and all the kids (29, 26, 19 and the grandkids) wanted to go again!:cool1:

The show is all corn and the food great family cooking! If your lucky to be picked for the ending skit* you (and your family) in for a treat.

If you get the 715 show you get out around 900 and you can get a drink and sit on the beach and watch the water light show go by.

WL is about 10-15 minute walk or you can take the bus.

Have a great trip!

My family loved it and look forward to returning. We had 3rd tier seats and they were great I would n't sit anywhere else.:flower3:

I'm staying at WL in a couple months and booked Hoop Dee do for the first time. I've asked a lot of your same questions and have found that you can walk, take a bus, OR take a boat to FW (I'm going to do the boat). It gets the best ratings out of all the Disney shows that I've seen and the food reviews are between ok/fine and great so no one has said the food is bad ;) I've read lots of different things about the seating. Cat 1 can be TOO close to the stage for some folks. Cat 2 seems to be the most desired but even Cat 3 is just fine and still able to see and participate in everything.

Through the years, I have sat in each category of seating. Last August I had Category 1 - right at center stage for the first time... loved every minute of it!

Even Category 3 - when you are upstairs there isn't a bad seat. During one of the songs, one of the performers comes upstairs so you do get an 'up close' moment.

Of all the dinner shows, this one is my favorite. You know going in it is going to be corny, it is going to be hokey...and that is part of the charm. I remember when Disney revamped the Luau a few years ago and made it so Disney it lost most of its charm....

My vote is to do the Doo.

Do it! You won't be sorry, it's a BLAST, and the food is great. (Did I mention you get all you can drink beer)! :thumbsup2

We have sat 3rd and 2nd tier. I actually liked being up on the balcony, as you got a great view of the whole place. We have also been on the floor, and loved it too. You really can't go wrong.

For us, it is now our "first day" tradition. We usually get to the hotel around noon, hang out, swim, then "Do the Do" on our first night, LOL. It's a GREAT time!

We are also very pro HDDR. It's the only dinner show worth going to in our opinion.

I have sat in all 3 cats. I personally like Cat. 3 the best. I like the balcony view and not having to worry about people around us moving their seats around and either blocking our view or sitting on top of us (both of which have happened), which can happen in Cat. 1 or 2 seating. Cat. 2 is alright if you are lucky enough to get the center balcony, if not you are towards the back on the floor. The actors do make their way up to the balcony so you don't feel left out of the participation. In the end there isn't really anything wrong with any of the cats, but if you are looking to save a few $, there is nothing wrong with cat. 3 seating. Also, if the show doesn't sell out they will fill up the floor so a cat. 3 can move up to a cat. 2.

The easiest way to get to the Boardwalk from WL would probably be to take a boat to MK then jump on the bus that heads to BWI. There are a couple of sit down restaurants there. Besides ESPN there is Kouzzina and Big River Grill, as well as Flying Fish (one of our favs.) which is a signature meal, but seems more family friendly than other signatures. You can also get to Yachtsman Steakhouse at the YC and Cape May at BC using the same bus that would get you to BWI, both of which you can easily get to the Boardwalk from. The Boardwalk is a great place to walk around when the performers are out and about. This resort area is also easy to get to if you leave out of the IGW at the WS in EPCOT.

I just want to echo the other posts, HDD is a great show. The food is good, the entertainment is great, and there isn't a bad seat in the house. Our first trip was Cat 3 seating. It was still a great view and the performers do a good job of involving everyone. Last summer, we booked Cat 1 seating. Well, we had the front table seated up against the stage. They involved my wife and I in 4 or 5 jokes throughout the show and it was an absolute blast. I don't think were too close at all.

We have been twice and this year the kids (15, 12 & 8) are begging to go back. Love It!

I love the HDDR and have been many times. The show is delightful, well done and high energy, but corny. The food is good down home cooking and all you care to eat. It includes beverages including beer, wine and sangria.
I have been with my primary family when my kids were young, and was with my son and grandchildren when he introduced his young children to something he loved as a child. It was great. I have also been with all adults and we had a blast.
Enjoy.

It's a must do for my family. I'm taking my husband for the first time in July. He loves bad jokes.

My family loved it. My then 9 year old son was laughing so hard he had tears. My kids were 9 and 6 . Food was average

Definite Doo!

I have never heard anyone complain about any of the seating. We do tier 1 just because we do not get to go to often.

From what I have read, no one has ever complained about any of the seating.

Without a doubt the best dinner *experience* at Disney. There is no way to not have a good time. Take the boat from WL, much shorter trip than bus to FW.
At BW restaurants besides ESPN are, Big River Grill, Flying Fish, Kouzzina, and everything at BC & YC & Swan/Dolphin, also backdoor into Epcot R&C is right there.

Ok Hoop de doo is a must see at least once. The food isn't great and it is a little hokey but it is really fun for the whole family! I don't do it a lot and mostly in larger groups (not just dh and I). I probably wouldn't go out of my way for wcc, but that's just me.

In my opinion the HDDR is the only dinner experience worth the price or 2X table services. It is an absolute blast and there are no bad seats at all. My family had probably the "worst" seats in the house, which were on the floor all the way in the back by the doors. They were fantastic. I think I prefer them. Not as crowded. The chairs/tables were up high so you can see over everyone. The performers include everyone and on multiple occasions they were right back by us.

Also, it can't be over-stated... free beer! If I could only do one TS on a trip I would choose this one.

I have only sat on the main floor. I has been a number of years since I have done this. Is it a different price depending on what tier now. Also I have a major height phopia and can also get claustraphobic. I am afraid if I choose 3rd tier I won't be able to enjoy the show because of this. Help please!

Yes, it is a different price now. They are about $5 difference, per person, for each tier. Also, for any show but the late show you can only sit in Tier 2 or 3 with the dining plan.

Sounds like you definitely want tier 2 for price versus claustraphobia.

You should be able to take the MK water taxi that stops off at WL just before going over to drop off the campground. A CM at WL should be able to confirm that.

We stayed at WL on our first trip but didn't HOOP DE DOO but we saw lots of folks heading over to the campground. We'll be going for the first time at the end of Feb. Can't wait!

Hoop -de- DOOO! We had great fun here, and I have never seen my kids lol so hard. It is VERY corny and silly, but that is why they love it! That is why I love it! Food isn't amazing, but not terrible either, and the experience itself is just plain fun! How often do kids get to go to a dinner show?
