We are going to be traveling with our two children (8 & 5), as well as my in-laws, who are huge western fans. We're considering doing Hoop de Doo one night. Is it worth it? Also, how many ribs do you get? Neither my husband nor FIL can eat American chicken, it makes them sick, so they'll be limited to the ribs.

Yes! It is a must do for us every trip. The ribs (and chicken) are all you care to eat. They come out in buckets, and when you finish one bucket you can get another. Plus, the show is really funny. Like I said, a must do for us.

Never did HDDR in 40+ years at WDW - and decided to try it last month.

Big mistake to not have ever tried it earlier. It was a lot of fun, the food was good, and included beer, wine, and sangria.

Check out the Dining threads for more info.

It's a very corny show. Kids seem to love it. We took our grandaughters ages 7 & 10 last summer and they have requested to go again. The food and drinks are unlimited. IF you need anything just tell your server. You may want to tell the server you need more as soon as they bring the first portion, sometimes they get busy and it may be a while before they come back around to check on you.

HDDoo is tons of fun. You will love it! Definitely doo it!
Salad great, chicken good, cornbread excellent, beans ok…BEER (Yingling) all you care to drink…Ribs? fatty and poor quality.
Get a table on the floor…. We were the last table in the back. No problem. excellent service. Totally worth it!

yes, yes, YES!!! This is our absolute favorite!!! DH went as a kid (he was 13, his sister was 6) and according to my MIL, it was the ONLY thing they both enjoyed!

over 15 years later, we went with our own DD, who was 6. She LOVED it and it was the first thing she asked to do again when we told her about our 2nd trip. We leave for our 3rd trip in a couple of weeks and HDDR was the first thing we booked after our hotel.

I can't remember much about the food - DD loves fried chicken, and their strawberry shortcake. They brought out as much as we would eat! Drinks too - they kept those beers flowing!

We all thought the show was a lot of fun - we loved it!! SO think it's worth it!! :)

We really enjoyed it on our last trip and would do it again. As a PP pointed out it is really corny, but that's the charm of it!

Just curious, what is the difference between American chicken and chicken from other places?

The only problem I've had with the Hoop Dee Doo is keeping up with the beer pitchers. We tried to empty the pitcher to end the night and just when it got down to a little the CM brought us two more glasses of beer!

Oh and of course with all you can eat they fill you up then bring out all you can eat dessert!:worship:

The show is great and they get the people involved in the show so your not just sitting watching.

No idea. It seems to be a common problem though. It's likely a difference in the feed, antibiotics etc... There's very different regulations between Canadian/American meats.

It sucks too, because we live in a border town, 5 minutes from the US, and your chicken costs about 1/4 of what we pay here.

Is it strawberry shortcake? Is it good? And is that all you can eat? If so, my husband and FIL may clean the house out, lol.

It is worth it and fun for the family. Category 1 are the best seats. You are assigned a table. The table sizes vary.

Awesome! Thanks so much!

Where is the best place to try and sit?
Floor…anywhere…there are 3 prices…up front floor most $$…but I found being in back floor was fine….wouldn't recommend balcony but it does cost less.

If anyone is lucky enough to book a night that results in less than full, they will often move people from the other 2 tiers down to the floor.

We booked the upper balcony (level 2?) and ended up with a table on the floor, center stage, because they didn't hit capacity that night.

I can't say enough, YES!... especially if they like western themed stuff.

We did it for the first time Sept 2013 and wish we would have done it sooner. It was the highlight of the trip.

The ribs are good (not on par with the best BBQ joints, but good), so is the chicken (for those of you that can eat it). It's all you can eat. You also get cornbread, green beans, and I think mashed potatoes.

The strawberry shortcake at the end is great too.

It's a must do for our trip this year.

Love that the beer and sangria are included, as well as the tip.

I was in the Ft Wilderness bar/restaurant back in September around 5pm and the cast enters from there..I followed em in and looked at a nearly empty 5pm show…maybe 30 guests in the whole place! Wow! love the last of the off season weeks!

We went this past October with a group of eight - and my son (who was 8) got picked to be in the show! We all enjoyed the evening, I don't know if I would do it again (though hubby said yes for sure). The food was very good. I didn't see it on the menu, but they did bring out mac & cheese. The service was excellent. We were on the main floor, right in the center - but I imagine most seats would be good. I think you guys will like it!
