Honeymoon Tips

Hello fellow Disney fans! I am going to Disneyworld for my honeymoon on Jan 7 - Jan 12 and I was wondering what your opinions were on various things.

1) First, what would be the best option for tickets? Should I buy them at the park or should I buy them in advance from a broker here on the site? Just trying to figure out which would be less of a hassle.

2) If I am staying at the Swan, what are some of the best places to eat that aren't too expensive? We have a limited budget so we have to make the best of it!

3) I haven't been to Disneyworld since 1986! What are some of the rides/shows that I must see while I am there?

4) If I am not renting a car, what options do I have in getting from the Airport to the Swan and vice versa?

5) Lastly, what advice do you all have for me to do while at Disneyworld?

welcome to the boards and congrats. One thing you will want to do is get the honeymoon(anniversay) pins from guest services from any park this may give you a little extra magic, but no gaurentees. i cant really give any advice on tickets because i always get mine at the military tickets....sorry. one place that isnt too bad of a price and has a awesome, awesome breakfast is ohanas at the polynesian. And make sure you get lots and lots of pics by the photopass people. they are all over the park, and at the end of your trip if you want you can get all the pictures with copyright on a cd for $99 bucks. they also do sell bride groom ears the bride is a headband and the guys is a top hat but it doesnt fit most guys. we made our own tee shirts that had bride and groom and stuff like that and the buttons and we got so so so much magic. we wore the bride groom ears for a few pics but that was it. if i think of anything else ill let you know.............best wishes

As far as your answer to number 4:

I am not sure if the Swan is included on the Magical Express shuttle from the airport or not.

If not, we always use Tiffany Town Car Service. (We stay at Shades of Green and they are not included in Magical Express.) They meet you at the baggage claim and carry all your bags to the car, a nice town car. (you can get a limo too!) On your way to the hotel they stop at the grocery store for a 20-30 minute stop for no extra charge and then they take you on to the hotel. This is nice because if your room has a fridge you can get some quick breakfast items and snacks, and that saves you some money for nicer dinners and character meals. We have always had a VERY good experience with Tiffany Town Car, and the drivers have been very helpful and friendly. I know for a fact that last time we were in that grocery store for at least 40-45 mins and he never said a word or charged us extra.

There are other car services too. We are using Mear's Towncar for a small portion of time for our upcoming trip. We are doing a hotel transfer and I think we are getting charged about $17.00.

I highly recommend getting a car service! In my experience they have been MUCH cheaper than a taxi. And you can book most online ahead of time.

As for getting tickets...

I recommend paying the basic $45 dollars and becoming a AAA member. You will save far more than $45 dollars by doing so. Only one person going needs to be a member. They will get you the absolute best rates on hotel and tickets, airfare, etc. Not to mention that with your membership you get tons of other things- and they help you with all of your travelling needs. With AAA we saved atleast $600.00 dollars in November. I know our travel agent well (we have used her since I was a child)... and she lets us know our savings. Look into it!

I second Maggimus' opinion--Triple A is wonderful! You can save money on airline tickets, Disney tickets, and Lord knows what else! I also saved some money getting my passport photos taken there, as well.

We used Triple A also and just a break down for our trip (hope this helps!)


We are staying at POFQ 3/18/07-3/26/07 Which works out to 8 nights/9 days.We got the dining plan it is just easier for us and I am a good planner and were it is our honeymoon I wanted to be able to eat at the places I liked and at something like $40/daypp you can do just that.Anyway......
The total for our trip is $2486.40 hotel/park/dining. Flight Boston to Orlando is somewhere along the line of $420 (Gas Prices ) This was much better then we could do anywhere else or by ourselves.They also put everything together for you and let the hotel know it's your honeymoon etc... I hope this helps ( When I talked to our TA they had deals for the Swan/Dolphin.

I agree 100% with using the dining plan. We have done it on our last 3 trips, and have broken even by about the third day of the trip. I believe you can add it when you check in. It's close to $38 per day, but it's WELL worth it. Have fun and congratulations!

i will be honeymooning there at the same time! when you make your dining reserations, tell them to make a note on each one that it is your honeymoon, you have a better chance of getting some pixie dust if they know ahead of time IMO. good luck!

We will be honeymooning in Disney World in October 2007! Congratulations! I cannot wait. My fiance and I go to Disney very often (we have been together 4 years and have been to Disney World and Disney Land about 6 times!!) We are going to do the Disney dining plan since it seems like a pretty good deal because it includes all taxes and gratuities and you get your choice of some of the nicest restaurants that Disney has to offer! Some of my favorite rides that you DEFINITELY need to check out are Soarin' and Test Track at Epcot, the Mexico boat ride (also Epcot) is very romantic, Rock N Roller Coaster & Tower of Terror at MGM, Space/Splash and Thunder Mts at Magic Kingdom, and Dinosaur, Festival of the Lion King, Kali River Rapids, Expedition Everest and Kiliminjaro Safaris at Animal Kingdom. The Boardwalk is not too far from the Swan I believe and it is also a very romantic place to walk around!

I will have to comment on food since this is one of my favorite things at Disney.
It always amazes me how much the prices go up from lunch to dinner on Disney property, so I would make it a point to eat at some of the restaurants for lunch to save money, but still get the experience.
California Grill- I have gone up there for just dessert or appetizers (saves money) to enjoy the view. I would definitly plan it around MK fireworks time.
O'Hana's- Love it! Great deal and even more special if you can get a table by the window during the fireworks.
Sci Fi Drive-in Basic burgers and fries, but so much fun to eat in a car and watch a drive-in movie. It has also got to be one of the quietest restaurants on property! With the movie playing no one really talks! It is my Zen/need some inner tranquility choice!
