I am getting married and having my honeymoon at Disney mid-May 2015. I was wondering which resorts yall thought would be the best for a newlywed couple? And if the prices of the Deluxe resorts are worth it or if we should just stay at a moderate? We are going for 8 nights!

Which resorts would yall suggest?

I would go with the Polynesian. If you can't afford to stay deluxe, the Swan and Dolphin are much better choices than the moderates.

Knowing how the costs can explode when planning weddings and honeymoons, I'd keep a firm grasp on your budget. IF your budget allows, then any of the deluxe resorts would be lovely. But many, many people (including both of my DDs) have wonderful honeymoons at the mods. Or you could do a split stay with the majority of your stay at a mod and a day or 2 at a deluxe.

I'm not sure that the Poly will be finished its construction before your wedding, so I won't recommend it. But the GF is very beautiful. Many people loooove the theming of BC/YC and their proximity to Epcot. And many love the quiet and truly unique nature of AKL.

All of the mods have their own unique theme. You really can't go wrong with any of them. Just pick the one that appeals to you the most.

We are considering splitting time at one of the Port Orleans then deciding between Poly and Beach Club. I just can't decide between the two

I would avoid Poly until the construction is over. Aside from Poly, I think the most romantic deluxe is BWI!

I would look at YC or BW for the location. Epcot World Showcase is a nice place to end evenings, having a few drinks, snacking, walking, chatting, etc. And then you can just walk back to YC or BW. (Those two seem a little more sophisticated than BC to me, but BC would definitely work if you prefer the theme.) And there are so many restaurants!

I'd recommend CSR for a mod, & AKL for a deluxe....Both are very romantic and adult friendly..

CSR at night is very romantic, & the vibe and fell you'll get while at AKL is like no other...

The Grand Floridian with a theme park or bay lake view ((( swoon ))) Congratulations : )

Unless something changed during the last reno, the Poly doesn't have King sized beds in standard rooms. You have to go for a suite. This fact (and the prohibitive cost) kept me from considering the Poly for my honeymoon. Most of the other Deluxes only have the option of requesting a King, but at least it's an option.
It's a reservable category at the moderates.

Considering that information, I'd go with the Beach Club. I can also see the appeal of being able to walk to Epcot and Hollywood Studios.

As for the moderates, I didn't particularly care for POFQ. I know a lot of people love it, but it felt congested to me. I preferred the rambling nature of CBR and POR. That said, the only thing we didn't like about AKL was the confined nature of it. We like our resorts spread out, because we're weirdos who sometimes like going on walks in the evenings after a day in the parks. We like to feel "away from it all."

DH and I stayed at Boardwalk this past October for our honeymoon. It ended up being perfect for us. It was a splurge and we stayed for 5 nights but we made it work into our budget. I think for a honeymoon the EPCOT area resorts can't be beat. You can walk around to 4 other resorts for meals and can walk or boat to HS or EPCOT. My favorite moderate is Riverside. It is so relaxing and even though people say rooms can be a far walk, for 2 adults not having to worry about kids it's not bad at all. I would put in a request for the Mansion Buildings just because they're 'more romantic' on the inside than the bayou buildings. The grounds can't be beat though. If you want to stay at a Deluxe and not spend as much I would choose Wilderness Lodge. It's closer to everything than AKL and you don't feel like you're in Florida because of the ambiance of the resort. You can also take a boat over to Magic Kingdom. Anything you choose will be great because you will be a newlywed and that's what it's really all about! I would just think about your budget and see what you can make work!

Congrats!! I'm getting married May 23rd, and we're going on our honeymoon to Disney as well June 1st. We have decided to stay at CSR. We have never stayed at any Disney property before but from recommendations we decided it was perfect for what we need. We are staying 6 nights, and the price wasn't much more compared to a value resort so we decided to splurge a little. Have fun with all your planning :)

Congrats on getting married! pixiedust: I would stay at the GF or BWI if you can afford it. I know weddings are expensive! POR is beautiful and moderate. I felt that it was very romantic.

Definitely an Epcot resort for a honeymoon IMO. It's just so lovely over there, strolling back and forth to Epcot. Very romantic!

Like everyone's saying, the POLY is amazing, but would stay away with all of the construction.

BC would be a great choice, the location puts you minutes away from EPCOT and HS. The pool is also AMAZING!!!

Contemporary or GF wouldn't be a bad choice either because you would be right on the monorail.

Any of these would be a great choice. :thumbsup2

Congratulations on your marriage and have a great trip! :goodvibes

Thanks for all the tips, we are staying 8 nights and we have narrowed it down to Poly and Beach Club. The construction doesn't bother us as long as most of the amenities are still available. My fiance only cares about the pool to be honest, but I care about the romance and getting my moneys worth...They are both so beautiful I just cant decide!

ps This is my fiance first time to Disney! I want him to be amazed

Beach club! That's where we just dated for our HM. It was wonderful. Great to be so close to Epcot and boardwalk (where we had most Of our dinners)

Better check about the amenities at Poly. Isn't the GCH going through major reno? :confused3

We stayed at the Grand Floridian on our honeymoon (many years ago!!) and we couldn't of asked for a more beautiful and convenient place to spend it.

It is such a beautiful resort and it offers great dining options as well as monorail access, views of the MK fireworks, great pools etc.

We are older now and have children (16 year old DS and 12 year old DD) so we are Beach Club people now (our favorite resort) but the Floridian will always hold a special place in my heart because of our honeymoon.

Expensive but worth it!
