We arrived at the Lodge around 2pm and we were STARVING!!! So, we decided we would just grab a quick lunch at The Mara after check-in.

DH: Double bacon cheeseburger & fries, and mixed fruit.
Me: Cheeseburger & fries and zebra domes.

Both hamburgers were very good, but just plain old hamburgers - nothing really special, but it tasted wonderful because we were so hungry!!! The fruit DH had was great!! Very fresh and sweet. My Zebra domes were to die for!! They truly are as great as everyone here on the DIS says they are!! We enjoyed this meal over by the pool with all of the different birds that inhabit the grounds of the Lodge hanging out on the chairs near us begging for food
:) It was a pretty cool start to our magical honeymoon.

Next installment: The Crystal Palace

What a great way to start the day!! DH and I made a 9:20 ADR for the Crystal Palace mainly because I LOVE Pooh. When we arrived there were about 30-40 people outside waiting to be seated. Our name was called within 10 minutes. We were seated at a table by the window right in front of the castle which was nice. They had sprinkled mickey confetti in the shape of a heart on our table, which i was thrilled with (little things make all the difference to me!!). DH and I both ordered OJ and coffee and then headed off to get some food. I mainly got fruit and waffles and DH got EVERYTHING. Bacon, sausage, grits, pancakes, eggs, fruit, ect.... I must say the fruit was amazing. The strawberries were HUGE as were the grapes and everything was so sweet and juicy. Everything tasted wonderful. My favorite thing however was the breakfast lasagna. I can't tell exactly what all of the ingredients were, and it may not be the prettiest dish in the world, but it was delish!! Shortly after we sat down here came Pooh!! The family sitting near us offered to snap a pic of DH and I both with Pooh. Next came Eeyore and we got a pic with him as well. A few minutes later came our waitress along with Tigger. She brought us a celebration certificate for our honeymoon signed by all of the characters and a cupcake with candles. We also got a pic of all this. DH and I both enjoyed breakfast at the Crystal Palace and will certainly return!!

Next Installment: Boma

Isn't Crystal Palace wonderful. That is the one meal I must do every trip.

We love the CP for breakfast - the best meal that they serve, IMO.

I sooo agree with you on the quality and flavor of the fruit. I really dislike the "preserved" taste that a lot of restaurant fruit can have, never been a problem here !

Congrats on your nuptials ! Can't wait to hear more ! Heading over to read your trip report now . . . .

Love, Crystal Palace for breakfast. The food is great and it's so pretty inside. Plus nice bathrooms, which is a nice change fron the nasty theme park br's.

How did they find out it was your honeymoon? I think this would be cool for us too. Thanks:hippie:

When I called and made all of our ADR's we asked the CM to note that it was our honeymoon. We didn't say anything at the Crystal Palace, they already knew and had it done for us! We also wore our bride and groom ears the whole time we were there.

Great reviews so far! We bought a cookbook at WDW that has a recipe for the breakfast lasagna, it's sooo good! Also the puffed french toast, another of DH favorite.

DH and I decided we would be adventurous one morning and have breakfast at Boma. We did not have reservations, but were seated within 5 minutes. Our server was very friendly. DH and I both ordered coffee and jungle juice upon recommendation by our server. We loved the jungle juice, it was delish and the coffee was great too! As best I can remember, the jungle juice is a blend of papaya, orange juice, and mango juice. DH ate a variety of foods. He tried and enjoyed the bobotie (sp??), pap, bacon, sausages, eggs, fried potatoes, ect.... DH also asked if they had any biscuits (which they don't except on some kind of casserole) and the chef made some separate just for DH. I had alot of fresh fruits, pastries, and bacon which I enjoyed very much. DH and I both really enjoyed our breakfast at Boma and will definitely be returning.

Ok folks... I'm gonna back it up a bit... I like to do thinks in order and I should have done a breakfast review for Mara, not a lunch.... I know, I know... I'm weird.... But I like to do things as I had planned... So here's goes... My breakfast review of Mara.

It's 8am and I am SOUND asleep.... I hear the room door open and see DH coming in, so I close my eyes again. DH goes out to our balcony (savanna view at AKL) and calls me out about 10 minutes later. DH had gone down to Mara and gotten us breakfast to be enjoyed with the Zebra's :thumbsup2 Coffee was wonderful, of course. DH had a sausage, egg, and cheese croissant and I had a bacon, egg, and cheese croissant. Both were delish!!! Croissants were moist and buttery, steaming hot, melted cheese, and tasty meats. Pretty plain and simple, but good. If we stay at AKL again, i will definitely have DH grab breakfast from the mara again!!! The best part however was being able to eat breakfast with a zebra 30 feet away from you!!!

Great reviews! I can't wait to have breakfast with zebras and giraffes.

It was soooo warm that we decided to take the day to go to Typhoon Lagoon. We had lunch at the Leaning Palms Cafe and both had cheeseburgers, fries, and cokes. Typical burger and fries lunch - all was good - not greasy, and very tasty :thumbsup2

The first day we went to DHS we really wanted to have lunch at Mama Melrose, but didn't have a reservation and the wait was approximately 2 hours  We had planned to go back to DHS again the next day so I called and made a reservation for Mama Melrose for the next day. We arrived and sat at the counter while we waited. It was very cool because we got to sit and watch the chefs preparing the food. It even helped us decided what to eat!! We were seated within 20 minutes and ordered a tea for me and coke for DH. DH ordered the Artisan Breads and Spreads for his appetizer, and I ordered the Caesar Salad. DH's included a variety of fresh breads and 4-5 different types of spreads and dipping sauces such as pesto, veggie spread, roasted garlic, and marinara sauce. My salad was great - lettuce was crisp and fresh, dressing delicious, and the house-made crostini was wonderful! Right when our appetizers came we placed our entree order. DH and I both ordered chicken parmigiana. The chicken was moist and tender, the marinara sauce was wonderful, and the bed of spaghetti was wonderful also. After our entree dishes were cleared we ordered our dessert. DH ordered the Crema Limone - a lemon custard topped with fresh raspberries and raspberry sauce. I had the tiramisu which i was terribly disappointed in!! I am a LOVER of tiramisu and this didn't taste ANYTHING like tiramisu... I was sooo upset.

Overall I would recommend this restaurant, but we probably will try a different Italian restaurant during our next trip.

I'm loving this report! Such a cute honeymoon :lovestruc Me and my dbf were there the same time you were, the 4th til the 9th... wasn't the weather beautiful?! Can't wait to hear more about the food :goodvibes
