I will be taking my wife and daughter on their first trip to disney world in May. I feel really confident about all of our ADRs except ohana. I felt really good about it in the beginning but have recently been reading a lot of negative reviews. I'm looking for some honest input. I want this trip to be as perfect as I can get it and this is honestly one of the bigger struggles I've been having. It seems like a really cool experience, but it's expensive, especially if the food is subpar. What do you guys think? Help me make up my mind and thanks in advance.

We could have been there on an off night, but I found the chicken dry and without alot of flavor. The meat was chewy. With so many other choices, I have no desire to go back.

The food has been good both times we've been there for dinner. Service the second time seemed very rushed, which is tough with the amount of food they give you. I think it's worth doing. Just plan on leaving stuffed!

It depends on what your expectations are. As for me i expect good food for the amount of money i spend in a restaurant. I feel that the meat are very salty and the shrimp and chicken were dry and also salty. As for the salad and dessert they were ok. And i can get the same or better salad or dessert for less money somewhere else. The wait is too long and i feel like we were hurried to keep the herd moving.
I stayed a few times in the resort but i skipped going to the restaurant after 2 tries. I can get a better meal for my money at chick-fil-a.
You can go ahead and try O’hanna restaurant and have a “ what the heck” experience.

We enjoyed dinner at Ohana a lot. Fun atmosphere and plentiful, tasty food.

If you are paying OOP, I would avoid it. You are already feeling iffy about it. It is very expensive, you can have a good Hawaiian inspired meal at Kona Cafe.

Personally, we stopped going to 'Ohana. Couldn't justify the price.

I see it as comfort food. While tasty and filling... and it certainly hits the right "spot" I often cannot justify the price of it nor the time you always have to wait because of people "parking" waiting for the fireworks.

this might sound like a dumb question, but what's OOP

I’ve only been once. We went with a group of 12 and we all thought it was the best meal of our ten day trip. That’s the only place my DH said we MUST book next trip.

OP, not sure if you're thinking of dinner or breakfast, but I would skip it. I've been three times for dinner. The first time a few years ago was good, but the other two more recently, including this month, I was very disappointed in terms of both service and food. It was actually the only meal on our recent trip that we didn't like. I see that even on this thread, you're getting comments on both sides. It may be that you're curious enough that you'll have to try it once for yourself.

I thoroughly enjoy 'Ohana. I have dined there for dinner multiple times and have never had bad food. Sometimes the steak may not be cooked to your liking, but if you tell your server, they will get you what you need. My mom also has some dietary restrictions and the chef had no problems accommodating them. I did feel that some of the skewered foods arrived fast on ONE particular trip, but our server did not kick us out of our table and we could eat at our own pace. I have read about long waits and fortunately never had it happen. It is very fun and if you have kids, they would definitely appreciate the activities.

We have eaten at Ohana over a dozen times and enjoy it every time. We eat there at least once on every trip. The kids loved the games when they were younger and now love it even though they don't play the games anymore. We have a lot of fun there. My husband loves the shrimp. The appetizers are great. We love the noodles, wings and the dumplings. Then of course we love the dessert.

I would go - Enjoy!

We ate dinner there at the beginning of January and then again just over a week ago. Our server in January was great and the food was decent. It was definitely greasy, but our family enjoyed the experience.

Last Saturday our server was terrible, and the food was pretty bad minus dessert. My hubby said he never wants to go back, and that it’s a waste of money. YMMV, but truthfully I’d save the splurge for something like California Grill brunch. :thumbsup2

'Ohana used to be on our list of Must Do meals, however after the last meal it is off our list entirely. I will say that our experience is not necessarily what your will be, and like any other dining experience, it is personal. If you have wanted to give it a try, I would suggest keeping your ADR. Give yourself plenty of time though, 'Ohana generally runs behind

We ate there last August and it was the best meal of our trip. Sadly, my husband missed out on the meal as he was sick (had pneumonia). We have planned to go back in October so he can experience it but these latest reviews are putting me off.

We try to go each trip. It's a favorite and we've always had really good food. Service is definitely rushed, but the waitstaff have always been very friendly. That being said, it is pricey and we're usually on the dining plan. I'm not sure I could stomach paying out of pocket with the way my kids eat and my husbands dietary restrictions.

I totally agree, my 4yo will literally sniff something and say she’s full. In restaurants with a complimentary bread service sometimes that is all she’ll eat!
