I don't have a picture but I made these ornaments a few years ago. Get the clear glass ornaments, some sand (I collected mine from the beach when I went) and some very small assorted sea shells (also collected from the beach). Put a little of the sand in the ornament. Add shells and other tiny items (if desired). Hot glue the top on the ornament so the sand won't come out. I tied a light blue thin ribbon around the top of the ornament. They came out great!

Thanks for everyone's ideas!

Thanks for all the ideas!
I'm not super crafty, but you guys are an inspiration.

Please keep the ideas coming!

I'm going to attempt some photo coasters and scrapbook mugs this year. Also working on knitting some scarves as gifts.

Subscribing! I do plan on making mugs and mousepads with the kids pictures on them for grandparents this year. Does it count as homemade if Sam's Club does the work?

I make knit so I make scarves and other stuff. I also bake alot of traditional german christmas stuff. All in all it goes over very well I do buy some stuff but there are people I would never buy for and sometimes I've found people offended that I bought them something and didn't make them something.

Oh well what can you do.

I also make my own Christmas cards. I use photshop and buy paper at papersource.com

Last year for my employees I purchased small buckets, filled them with peanuts, stuck a Logan's Steakhouse gift card in it, and wrapped it all up in cellophane. Everyone loved it.

This year I'm buying small ceramic loaf pans, I'll bake a loaf of bread and wrap it in cellophane and attach a gift card to Panera Bread and call it a day. With 10 people to buy for, one is Jewish, one is diabetic and 1 is a man, it is hard to come up with a gift that fits everyone, so I have gone the way of gift cards.

Im really enjoying reading through these ideas and will be using some this year, so I better get started!

Last year I bought those little photo albums, you know the little "brag books", and I went through all my old photos and I filled each one with old old photos from years and years ago for each family member of their family and then for my mom and dad I did a mix of all of us. They were so tickled to see theirselves and their kids what they looked like back 15 years ago and were tickled to have the books. It made the day fun too because they all passed them around for everyone to see and when a new person would come in they would sit and wait for them to open theirs up so they could see it. I gave up a lot of pictures of my family but it made me feel good to give them to the people who really enjoyed them.

I love this idea! I actually have all of my family here this year, this would be a blast!!!!!!!!!!

I made these last year for little happy gifts. They were very inexpensive to make and so easy that it took very little time to do them. I found the fleece throws at Family Dollar for $3 each & the iron on appliques were on clearance at Hobby Lobby for $1 each. The packet of sequins was 50-cents which I put on using fabric glue. Total cost for each throw was $5 and some odd cents.

Great ideas here! We are on a really tight budget this year, so we are back to doing homemade Christmas. We haven't done this in years, but it has been lots of fun so far.

DD8 has been working on making beaded ribbon bookmarkers for everyone.
She is also making rice packs (hot/cold packs) for everyone in the family using up scraps of material. She has been learning to sew this year, so it is a great project for her.

I am making shrugs for her friends, some I am knitting, some I am sewing.

Then everyone in the family is getting an exploding box or an exploding book, I am doing both and each person will get one.
I am also putting together a DVD of our family highlights over the last six years. I did VHS six Christmas's ago for everyone and they were well received.

I posted a similar thread on the Community Board. I do FAUX stained glass by Gallery Glass. Every year I made another one for my parents. After they died I inherited them back.

Here are a few of the "gallery". I'll be making more for my family this year!

From the wife of a teacher------any office supplies you can find on clearance!! DH spends alot on extra supplies each year from our own $$

When you see pens, encils erasers pencls etc on clearance, make yourself a stash and then put the together in a cello bag for xmas w/ a note saying thanks. It will be very very much appreciated!!!

Great idea!! I'm ultra practical and want to give my son's teachers presents they can use!! This is his last year at this school and he's done 180 degrees better than he did in elementary school, I really just want to THANK them.

:thumbsup2

I was looking at the Disney Store and saw the outrageous price they wanted for a Mickey Wreath! I decided to make my own and for $4.00 plus tax, it actually looks better than the DS, if I do say so myself! :)

The Dollar Tree!

2 Packages Green Garland
1 Spool Christmas Ribbon
1 package small toys (packages, horn, candy cane)
1 set of Bells with ribbon.

I used 2 hangers (1 for head and 1 cut in half for ears) wired them together and kept the hanger hook to hang the wreath. I wrapped the large wire tight, pushing the garland up each time I wrapped. Did the same with the ears. Added the ribbon and bells at the top and hot glued the little toys throughout the wreath! I made mine with all gold.

I plan on giving one to my niece who will be hosting Thanksgiving this year.

:)

Hi, I didn't read any other of theses pages but Dec's issue of Family Fun magazine has home made gift ideas. I want to try the candles and you use ice to make the candle have holes in it. This year I am scrapbooking some pictures for my mom and then give them to her for christmas. She knows about them too. I also want to cross stitch my neices first initial on cute little frilly pillows for them.
