Home movie question

I was reading a thread on another board regarding whether or not to bring a Camcorder into the parks and it got me thinking about all the "old" video cassettes I have lying around. When I owned a camcorder I thought it was the coolest thing and I could tape all kinds of things and watch them later on. Well, I now have a stockpile of these old tapes and after looking at some, I can't for the life of me understand why I bothered to tape any of it.

So, the question is, do you use a camcorder and if so, how often do you watch the footage?

We do.

My DS9 will beg us to watch "family videos". Then DH will pull out one of those tapes and in no time everyone is bored to tears. Not that we don't like seeing them but hours and hours of the same thing does get a little......:yawn:

I have many tapes of our DS9 just doing nothing as a baby. I'd put the camera on a tripod and let it go. Most of the time, he was sleeping and just there in the picture. Those are the worst. We also have many tapes of our trips to WDW.

But, don't get me wrong, I wouldn't edit any of it out for the world. A couple Christmas' ago, my Mom had all of our old movies put into video. I don't look at them very often, but when I do, it's nice memories. Someday, I'm sure our "family videos" will have the same warmth to them.

We do.

Ok, well I do If I put one of the old movies in, he might watch it, but he would never say, "Hey throw that old home video in...." etc. I guess in the case of our "collection" there are many events that are worth rewatching. I taped many of my greatest memories through high school, and then I met DH and now our collection has expanded to videos of our families, vacations, and his "baseball star" moments LOL I should add that he doesn't mind watching those tapes....you know the ones where he gets to look like a star

Since we moved away from our family, we don't have as much to tape now, since we don't have kids. But I do take the camcorder on vacations and to special events, and I do enjoy watching the tapes, editing the footage with music and effects, and rewatching them later

I always watch our trip videos when I work out on the treadmill.
They are the best entertainment. Feels just like Im walking down Main St USA, or riding on the monorail.

I download all of our family videos to my computer and burn them onto CD-Rs that we can watch on our DVD player.
