My son is suddenly in love with the Handy Manny show. So I got to thinking about trying to get an ADR one day. We already have 2 other breakfast ADR's, so I thought about doing lunch. I spent all last night looking at the results that came up when I searched Hollywood and Vine. But everything I read up on was either for the breakfast or dinner. Anyone have anything to say about lunch there?? Or should I just try for breakfast? I know the reviews haven't been too good. Some were fine though. And we are not too picky at all, so I figured we would try it if I was able to get an ADR.
Also is this the only place DS would get an opportunity to meet Manny? I've read that he can see him at the Playhouse Disney show, but is there anywhere else besides this character meal where we can meet him?

We were at Hollywood and Vine for the character breakfast earlier in Dec. 2010, lunch in 2009, and dinner in 2008 (no characters at dinner).

Handy Manny was outside of Animation Studios with a photopass photographer during the day, not sure when he appears but the cast members can tell you when you are there.

Hollywood and Vine is the best place if you MUST greet Handy Manny. We like it there, every few minutes, a playhouse disney song plays and kids go up and dance with the characters. DS5 was thrilled to dance with Agent Oso. Was same in 2009 but only Little Einstein characters.

The breakfast was good. How hard is it to mess up bacon and eggs and mickey waffles anyway? The lunch I remember in 2009 was not exciting. The characters were great, the food not so much. The buffet was limited and not the best quality but we found stuff to eat. I'll give them credit though because our waitress brought two helpings of fresh strawberries for DS even though they were not on the buffet.

We went to Hollywood Studios for morning magic hours 8-9am, had breakfast at 9. You can also get into HS before it opens, like if you have an 8am breakfast but HS doesn't open until 9. Always makes for some good photos in an empty park.

We went for lunch back in 2008 and we will be going again for lunch on our upcoming trip in late January/early Febuary. We liked it. It's typical lunch fare nothing fancy. The characters were great except my daughter was only 1 and terrified. We videotaped her as it was hilarious to watch. She was in a high chair trying to hide under the table lol. She kept putting her head down so they wouldn't find her lol. This time she is 3 and is excited to see Handy Manny and June. They have replaced Jojo and the lion with Agent Oso so that will be new for us. If your son likes Handy Manny, he will really appreciate it and the food isn't bad at all.

Lunch is not bad at Hollywood and Vine. Like you said though, we are not picky eaters for the most part when especially when it comes to vacation (if I don't have to cook, I'm really happy). So, typical things for lunch include salads, mac and cheese for the kids, chicken nuggets for the kids, sandwich meats (turkey, ham, roast beef(?), cheeses, rolls, fruits, fish, rice, just to name a few. We found that everyone found something to eat and no one was starving at the end. The characters come around a lot so we saw them more than one time. Last year, Handy Manny fed my son his watermelon. It was cute. I think it a good meal and way better than standing in line in the parks to meet Handy Manny.

Thanks for the replies!! Guess I'll hop over to the Disney site to see what (if any) ADR's are available.

Also, I am looking for the prices of breakfast vs lunch? For 2 adults, 1 child. I am having trouble finding them.

I don't think there is a difference between the breakfast & lunch prices. I can tell you my son & husband loved the food at lunch and got ample amounts of time with all the characters. The chef also really took care of my food requests as well. We got more character pictures at that lunch then we did our whole 8 days combined with charcaters at other meals(we did one character meal a day)! It was sooo relaxing and laid back! :goodvibes

On the subject of H&V lunch, has anyone gotten one of the last ADR time slots for lunch? If so, how long were the characters around? H&V opens for dinner at 3:30, but the last available ADR for lunch is 2:15. If we take a lunch ADR @ 2:00 or 2:15, will I be shortchanging my kids' time with the characters? I would be making this ressie for the characters and not the food, so I want to make sure that the timing is right. This might be the lunch option for the day that we move from one resort to the next (moving from Pop to Dolphin for split stay) and we wouldn't be going to the park early that day. The later time would make us feel less rushed, I think. But, we could make the ressie earlier if it meant more character time.
